I had a yamaha yzf 600 thundercat as my first bike!! They are brilliant if just starting out and keep up with most bikes. 0-60 is 3.5 sec and top speed 159mph so plenty to play with!! Also perform just as good when restricted to 36bhp (usually 101 bhp) get a thundercat!!!!!!!

Turbo just made the highest speed come faster, yet not too far from an original R1. The other guy made it in Saanich but many idiots were scared and started calling up 911. In this country, they can have an accident even driving at 50 Km/h. I will have an accident too because my car is too slow until I fall asleep behind the steering wheel.

Nope, It's an Honda VTR SP-1, or RC-51 as it's called outside Europe. The R1 is an "line-4" and the SP-1 is a twin, therefore the difference in sound. But yes, both are 4-stroke.

have you ever ridden an R1? i had one and they are so powerful, short and light that even without a turbo taking off in first gear she wants to point her nose at the sky, and doing a 1km wheelie inst particularly fast, once he get the front wheel to stay planted over 200kph he reels in the v-twin easy as. this is the reason turbo R1's are rare, they're way too insane. Ride a 1000cc bike at any stage without a turbo and they are insane, adding a turbo is crazy, crazy awesome tho. :)

@LordDiablo, going 180 mph does not involve much skill at all. If you have ever ridden a bike-boy bike, all one has to do is put the bike in 6th gear at 50mph and roll on the throttle while tucking in. 180 feels no different than 160mph. Its pretty clear you must ride one of those little 600cc beginner bikes. It looks like that SV1000 gave that turbo bike a run for its money though. Not bad for a V-twin 1000cc bike. Those SV1000s are loaded with low end torque.
@MustangMan427 Considering its a VTR wich is a twin and in turn not really meant for high speeds at the top end , yeah it did great. Love twins, great torque ect, not so fantastic at the top end up its a good trade off in most cases.,
@elliotmotoX and what do you propose they wear? leathers? like it'll matter at those speeds. it's just going to prolong the agony until blackout. are leathers going to prevent the broken bones? no. the broke neck? no. the shattered spine? no. maybe a solid iron suit would be best? that fast, not even the helmet is much help, it's just going to mke it easier to identify the person. that sounds bad i know, but it's the truth. these dudes were clipping, kph or mph. fast is fast.
