I ordered the 128 and they sent me the 512. Being able to install every single game and app I own with over 250gb left feels so amazing. That said I’m not sure it’s worth the $150 premium especially if you’re like me and own most of your games on PC
I've got the 512 GB variant. Which you should get depends on your use case just as the video says. I primarily use it almost exclusively for PCVR at home, but also travel a fair bit so I keep Quest 3 versions of a lot of games on the internal storage. Plus, it's nice to have those standalone games when the kids in my family come to visit, as they don't usually visit my home, but my mother's and we meet up there.
I have the 512 just for future longevity as the games will probably end up increasing in size in the future. Its nice to just not have to worry about running out of space.
I am also usually one to future-proof my purchases but for this one I don't think its worth it at the current stage of standalone VR. I do not see standalone VR games getting large enough to not have plenty of games installed at once in the next 3-4 years. And with VR still rapidly developing and improving I will be replacing this headset ASAP anyways. $150 dollar difference is a hard pill to swallow. @@VRCauldron
I got the 128GB because I only had Eleven Table Tennis and Walkabout Golf on my Q2. Meta are crazy, making the same mistakes they did with the Q2, small storage puts people off spending money in the store. The strap is still horrible, so most people wont get a nice VR experience out of the box. The facial interface absorbs sweat again, how stupid is that? Why not throw in a silicon cover? The weight is similar to the Q2, I'm sure a little less weight would make it more comfortable. I love the Q3, but I don't think it will be as much of a game changer as it could've been, if Meta had just fixed a few problems that the Q2 has. While I'll spend extra fixing some of it, I can see a lot of people playing for a month, then getting fed up with it, like they did with the Q2. Argos is a good alternative to Amazon, they had free delivery. Don't know if they ran out of 512GB versions, but they probably have lower demand, so I use them whenever I can.
Get the 128gb. The games in the Meta store are not worth downloading, so you'll end up streaming PC VR from Steam anyway. You might download a game or two if you want something to kill a few minutes here and there (Edit: Dungeons of Eternity is actually pretty fun, although $30 is overpriced for what you get), but for the most part the quality of the stuff Meta sells is usually on par with browser games.
I have the 64Gb Quest2, have not had a space issue yet. Although I also have fast Internet so reinstalling is not a problem (not that I have needed to much) Still undecided on the Q3, ill probably get one when i can justify the cost.
Get the 128 GB unless somehow you are going to want to play many games at a time. I personally hope to find the awesome game that I rly like and stick to it for a long time.
I'm still trying to decide. The 512gb imo is just too much of a premium for what storage costs these days. I have the 256gb Q2 and I' had over 220 apps on it at one point. I think it is the ideal size for standalone VR use. Right now I'm attempting pair down my installed library to see if I can live with a 128gb quest 3, since I do use quite a bit of pcvr.. I'm just amazed meta didn't make the base storage space 256gb. I would upgraded on day one.
Agreed about 256gb. It would be an easy decision if the smaller one was 256gb. They've purposely made the smaller one way smaller to sell more 512s. Grrr lol
Hey, Al, great to see you again! When I looked at how many games I have on my Quest 2 (with only half of them loaded), then heard how big Asgard's Wrath 2 will be all by itself, then did a bit of math, re., the per-gigabyte cost of the 5123gb vs. the 128gb, THEN heard about some of the (possible) problems that may come up when the Quest 3's storage is mostly full... well, it was a no-brainer for me to grab the larger version of the Quest 3. And then, there's the fact that I originally bought the smaller versions of every Oculus/Meta headset I've owned, from the Go to the Quest 2--only to end up getting rid of it to buy the larger versions of the headsets. Yeah, the "larger" Quest is $150 USD more--but since I'm mostly using my Pico 4 for PCVR at the moment, have the bulk of my standalone games on the Quest, and am Very. Damned. Tired. of dealing with a Quest 2 that never did much like me, I think going with the larger Quest was my only comfortable option. NOT so comfortable for my credit card, but still... 🤣
My biggest concern is redundancy...like the video explained, as vr gaming improves games will get bigger and better on the quest it's self..especially within the next 1 to 2 years vr these types of units are going to take of with apples model being the next...it's not really that much more when your already paying that much...for peice of mind get tge 512gb storage...just like phones and everything else it will seem small in a few years and you will need to upgrade
In a short few year from quest 1 to quest 3 i upgraded the headset. I struggled with the quest 64gb . I will buy the 128gb now but a new quest is always on the horizon before you know it and perhaps i will or will not upgrade to 256gb.
How are you finding it? I currently have the Oculus 1 and hard to find reviews comparing the jump from 1 to 3. Is it worth it? I do like the Oculus 1 has OLED
@@markymoo22 actually I am disappointed. I managed to download all my games well beyond 64gb on to the 128gb quest 3 and after all that I only have 6gb left. Therefore 256gb would of been much better option. Secondly the quest 3 takes forever to fully charge. I think there maybe a factory fault I hope not . Thirdly when wearing the q3 headset there is a big gap of light coming through from the below nose area. It won't cover the nose flat for an immersive fit. I can actually see what's going on outside the set without the pass through. The good thing is it feels a bit lighter and gameplay is just the same and there isn't anything really to wow about. The controls are so light and it feels like you haven't got anything in your hand.

I would have liked a 256 gig option, but had to go with the 128 gig because I can't afford the 512 version. I could have afford a 256 gig option, I don't like Meta for doing this, it wouldn't be hard for them to include a 256 gig option as the drives are already available for the Quest 2, it was a purely psychopathic moneymaking decision from them.
