  • Max Planck made significant contributions to theoretical physics, particularly as the originator of the quantum theory. His groundbreaking work in this field revolutionized our understanding of the behavior of energy at the atomic and subatomic levels. Planck's quantum theory introduced the concept of energy quantization, stating that energy is emitted or absorbed in discrete packets called "quanta." This theory laid the foundation for the development of quantum mechanics, which has since become a fundamental framework in modern physics. Planck's contributions to science extended beyond quantum theory, as he also made notable advancements in thermodynamics and other fields. His work continues to shape our understanding of the fundamental laws governing the universe. This is a biography of his life and a brief overview of his largest contribution to science.

    It should be a criminal offense that this channel only has 600 subs. Fantastic video quality, and very interesting content. I really appreciate you keeping it relatively short too.
    Keep it up, your time will come!

      2 weeks ago I had 20 subs, my two latest vids have gone crazy 😅 things are looking up I think. Thank you for the support!

      @@RationalThinker118 yeah looks like the algorithm must have finally picked up your videos and started recommending them to folks…that’s how I found your channel earlier this week…so I guess your time is now! And it’s well deserved :)

    Very well made video, all the information are correct and precise.
    I don't understand why TH-cam don't push it to a wider audience.
    Thank you

    Planck's approach was to analyze the entropy of blackbody radiation as a function of energy. To make both Wein's Law and Rayleigh-Jeans Law consistent with the Second Law of Thermodynamics, he included a "guess" term proportional to the frequency.
    A paper titled "Planck’s Route to the Black Body Radiation Formula and Quantization" by Michael Fowler (7/25/08) gives a nice discussion.

    Lord Kelvin and a few other Physics Honchos at the end of the 19th Century stated that Physics seemed complete, except for a few open questions: (1) "What causes discrete spectral lines?"; and (2) "What makes the Sun shine?"
    Kelvin conjectured that solving these problems would require "something new". (His statement is more elegant.)

    Very nice content! It is the information like these that make understanding a topic and making further research much easier. As a feedback, I'd prefer seeing more math, at least the crucial parts. For example, I would prefer to see the derivation of Rayleigh-Jeans law, how discretization of energy solves the problem at small wavelengths (even if it is another video), and why Planck considered that as a solution in the first place.

      @RationalThinker118  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment! The reason I didn't derive the Rayleigh-Jeans law is because there's already a video on YT that does it way better than I ever could. I linked it in the description if you are interested!
