  • Sungai Nibong is an area on the eastern side of Penang Island. The name refers to Sungai Nibong Besar, one of two rivers by that name. On this walking tour, we will get to know the area past and present.

    Another very informative tour of Penang, thank you. I do enjoy these. However I am very disappointed that everyone around the market was still wearing face masks. How long will this continue? In London we abandoned masks ages ago (except possibly in hospitals). Even in the middle of the pandemic you rarely saw people in the street wearing masks.

      Wearing the facemask has become a way of life over here, even when the authorities have relaxed the rules.

      @@discoverwithtimothy Yes, I understand that. However as a photographer I find this extremely frustrating. On my last visit to Penang at the end of 2019 my street photography yielded many happy smiling faces. But who wants to photograph people wearing facemasks? In addition my hotel (Bayview Georgetown) still insists on facemasks in the hotel and this wretched Malaysian app on my phone (which isn't "smart" so it won't work!). None of this is conducive to me returning to Penang which I long to do. It's so sad. However, do keep up your good work; it's much appreciated.
