For all her hostility to.Darrin, Endora has a kind side too. She really wants what is best for Samantha.
Yes, I wish there were more episodes with Endora's kind side. They were few and far between.
True - Wow - I never saw this side of Endora. Her delivery was hilarious - when Maurice said I'll try and she responds Whadda mean I'll try.
Apparently, Agnes Moorhead was very fond of Dick York.
A bit overblown acting on Maurice's part.He was a powerful warlock and hardly would have this much trouble bringing Darrin back.This was all for comedy but the premise didn't work
@@markwhitman9029your own comment shows you're wrong - the fact that Maurice is so powerful - and Maurice himself said he gave him a terrible jolt - meant Darrin was so thoroughly gotten rid of, that bringing him back was a Herculean labor.
After years of watching this show, this is the first time I have noticed that Endora admitted to having a conscience. Oh, she teases Darren, tortures him, harasses him, and the like to prove he isn’t worth her daughter’s love; but she won’t kill him outright.
I know. This was a good episode.

That's true, even though Endora doesn't like Darrin because he's mortal and Samantha chose to live a mortal life with him, she accepts him because she wants Samantha to have a happy life with whoever she chooses to love.
Endora also tried to save Darrin from Maurice seasons later when they were in Paris.
Endora: You bring him back or I'll make your life miserable for you, and you know that I can do it. I'll move in with you!
He does not accept Darrin. He accepts the love his daughter has. Big difference

Once he got past the initial meeting, I felt Maurice always had a fondness for Darrin deep down, even if he did struggle to get past it being a "mixed marriage."
Sometimes a "mixed marriage" makes life more interesting. You'll never get bored.
Maurice unlike Endora ends up respecting his daughters choices.
@Draper Scott incorrect, Maurice unlike Endora never took an active role in attempting to sabotage his daughters relationship with her husband, Maurice says the following on a number of occasions "you are looking radiant and happy and it seems dobbin is responsible for your happiness".Maurice prevented Endora Hagatha and Enchantra from kidnapping their grandchild in season 3 episode 3
@@eijiniizuma6184 I thought Maurice was rather unkind to Darrin in that scene. After Maurice saves Tabitha, he says to Samantha, "For you, anything."
Then when Darrin quite politely says, "Thank you, sir."
Maurice responds dryly, "For you, nothing. You simply exist in the fallout of my love for my daughter."

They wouldn't have done that then lol. It would have been considered too indecent, not to mention it probably would have gotten their show canceled. But I also wondered the same thing; which led to me researching it hence what I wrote above lol

I'm on the last series of my boxset and it's so interesting to see just how much fashion changed throughout the series.
Season in the USA. And the early years were horrible to women.
Where did you get that “Boxset?!”. I want to watch all episodes in a sequence. Would you be kk d enough to tell me where or how can I get it?. I grew up with this awesome show which brings me very fun memories of my childhood, home and parents…
It was the beginning of the seventies, you could see it in the fashion, and Samantha's hair, IAM so lucky to grow up in that decade.

That was funny. This was an excerpt I hadn't seen. Hmm. Endora threatening Maurice was hilarious. Like she was the only one who was allowed to threaten Darrin, Ha!
And yet Darrin's mom never really accepted Sam!
Darrins mom accepted Sam but she had her faults, Sam was never tested and tortured by her in-laws to the extent Darrin was throughout the series. Mrs Stephens was rarely at the household and never actively tried to sabotage their relationship was contacting Darrins exgfs and blackmailing them into attempting to court him away from Sam. Sam was never turned into any number of werewolves chimps elephants mules or birds. Mrs Stephens never decided to start altering Sam's facial features without consent while she slept on her couch.
I still crack up from the time Maurice called Darren: Dustbin ….😂

A fav of mine since childhood. Maurice played Hutch in Rosemary's Baby, a movie about witches.

I thought a witch could not undo a spell of another witch. Endora did it and Sam undoes it
Right? But Endora was in the room at the time, so perhaps permission was granted!

I believe there are different spells that witch’s can and can’t undo.
And a witch can take a spell off from another witch if she knows the incantation spell that was cast.
@@viktorgadany7595 they were never consistent. And without words by endora, Samantha would not know the spell
Oh I love ❤ episodes where one of Samantha's family (other than Clara) helps Darrin. The reason I say other than Clara is because she was always for Darrin. It's the other relatives I am referring to. Sadly, those episodes are few and far between.
Poor Darrin took so much flack just for being a normal human being.
I know this was the 1st Season, and the change wasn't until the 3rd, but I liked it when they replaced "Father" with "Daddy". "Father" sounds too stuffy for Maurice.
Well, I think that they both suit him. Maurice is an old-fashioned sort of pater, and both his daughter and he are old enough to have been around when "Dad" and "Daddy" were strictly baby-talk. But "Daddy" is more affectionate and a little more modern. I can live with both, personally.

Maurice is so powerful. Samantha tried to banish him and it didn't even affect him 1%
I wouldn't be afraid to stand up to Maurice but I'd try it in a calm manner. I'd say lets talk man to man. I'd tell maybe Sam's marriage doesn't fit his idea of normal but assure him that we mortals aren't so different from witches and warlocks. I'd show him that I don't think witches and warlocks are bad people. We aren't so different from them because people still frown upon interracial marriages like they frown upon mixed marriages. In fact I'd get Sam to try and get me a meeting with the witches Council so I can tell my statement to them so they'd be more understanding.
You are a brave soul to take on not only Maurice but the dreaded witches council. But I like it.

Inspite of everything retaining Samantha, the family bond and love for her is very strong and protected. Making sure any harm comes to her, Endora or any other family member always have her back. My question to everyone is if you are in a relationship or married someone who is mortal, would you give up your powers, your breed and background in order to live a normal life? Let me know your answer🔮🐈⬛

Maurice blew Darrin up again in PARIS WITCHES STYLE. This time Endora changes him into a bust of Napoleon. Maurice, blows it up and changes him back, after Endora threatens to move back in with him. Sam asks if he's alright. Darrin says, "Of course. I always get blown up this time of day." 🙂

Love between Samantha and this Darren was very believable. But the smart mouthed bean pole I absolutely hated. He was far from being a likable person.
