This filter is of the economy type, sadly it is not built as well as many of the other filters in the Economy class. I was hoping for a better filter but got this filter instead.
Thought I'd add some thoughts. -the x4615 is used on subarus which have a higher bypass pressure. -I find ecogard to use higher gauge steel than most name brand economy filters. (fram, mann, purolator, etc) Which is why they're hard to cut open. -I don't doubt the calibration of your hands, but a rip test probably isn't a good representation of filtering capabilities :)
I use the EcoGard model no. x2500 oil filter on my 14 Impala 3.6L VVT with Quaker State Full Synthetic Dexos oil. Never an issue. They are looked down upon because they are "Made in China" but lets face it, what oil filter isn't?
Seems like China may now be the biggest supplier of oil filters to almost all oil filter makers. If it works and no problems then it's good, more expensive oil filters are made worse than EcoGard.
@@crazybillsgarage ... Baldwin is labeled Baldwin. Champion, I've read some filters are/were made by Champion but I've never seen a filter labeled as such. And so many manufacturers have changed... I was loyal to Purolator until I recently discovered they're made by someone else and the quality is way down. Today I had to buy an Ecogard, never heard of that name before. With oil filters these days it's like Russian roulett... you never know what you're getting or who actually made it!
@hmdwn you are exactly right, to many oil filters have offshoot names for the same filter. Many are the same that you do not like to use. I still prefer the Baldwin product though.
@@crazybillsgarage I’ve seen what the bottoms of their storage tanks for the oil looks like ain’t no way I’m taking a chance with any of that contamination ending up in my motor bottled oil only for me to

Thank you I agree, and am trying to figure out something different.

K&N
@TalonBugs K&N for the win.👍
Bought a 2020 Mazda cx5 from EchoPark and it had this filter, sadly I ran it for 4500 miles since I never thought they would use such a cheap filter.
Hopefully it filtered for at least 4500 miles. Thanks
Ecogard is better than Mobil 1 through another review ripped it open. This one is good value.
I agree it had a few good quality moments. I will look at another Mobil 1 soon.
Another great review 🤗👍
Thanks Looney
And due tell, what's a "better cheaper filter"?
I would say Baldwin but its more mid grade filter. So I will say Champion filters work out well.

Ecoguard is Take 5 oil change’s shop filter brand so if you get your oil changed there you’re getting one of these garbage filters
Yeah those quick change places try not to spend money on decent filters. Plus the oil they use is kinda garbage also.
