Its funny how people hate that FF7Rb won Narrative at Joystick and was nominated for Narrative at TGA. Rebirth has a great story and I am glad to see it get recognized
Or maybe it is because people keep telling them that they can't judge the remake series story because "the story is not done yet"/"wait for part 3"/etc, yet people can throw all the praise and all the glory they can muster at the story. Rebirth is such a mess in its story telling that people can't even understand what is happening, and the developers want that. Rebirth is just a way worse way to experience the events of the OG, but at the same time with the best fidelity. The characters have amazing graphics and voices, but things like Dyne is completely watered down, Reds arc is disrupted by a story about the Gi, and not to mention Zack, which is on the cover but is so insignificant that you can even turn off his story parts in the menu after you have completed the game. Aeriths death in Rebirth is the worst "retake" of a famous scene in gaming history, even Cait Siths death was 100 times better. Other than such things, amazing game.
Pretty sure they’re mad because it completely changed so much of what was important in the og. I’m glad it won, cause square needs a win, and it did everything else fantastically, but they didn’t need to try to change/pretend to change stuff like: whispers, fates, remembering the og, Zak, multiverse, ruining aeriths death etc
Rebirth doesnt have a great story . Its literally failed the most famous death in gaming . Im didnt feel anything when Aerith died in Rebirth , even when she is my favourite character .
I'm so happy I'm crying! FFVII Rebirth is FINALLY getting the recognition it truly deserves! Square Enix is on a roll this year and I'm STILL waiting in anticipation for what Part 3 for the finale will deliver to us! Too bad we have to wait 3-4 years to find out what REALLY happened during that shocking ending! The wait is KILLING me! My brain is coming up with all kinds of crazy scenarios for it!

@@haileeraestout5567 Those are REALLY good theories! I did NOT notice the blood on Cloud's hand when I first watched that cutscene, though, so I'm thankful I found this channel's video: th-cam.com/video/dlpHzriNJxQ/w-d-xo.html So...after watching that video and it slowing down to show us what REALLY happened, I came up with this: 1. Aerith REALLY did die 2. You can actually see BLOOD on Cloud's glove, meaning that Aerith really is dead! 3. Sephiroth's sword is stuck in the ground. But reality switches this up, where we see blood pooling from the side of the screen, telling us Aerith did get killed for real. Sephiroth's Masamune has her blood coating it 4. The 'rainbow lights' is Cloud's imagination trying to block out what REALLY happened! So okay, by watching that video in slow motion, step-by-step, it's obvious that Cloud did NOT arrive on time to save Aerith and block the blade. His head is sending him images showing us that he DID save her, but in reality, it's all in his head, because in reality, he actually did fail. Watch the video and you'll know what I'm talking about! It took me YEARS to figure out what actually happened in that part!
I still think 2027 will be the release (30th anniversary) Remember... they mentioned that a team was already working on Part 3 back when they announced the fact that it'll be a trilogy, and that was back in 2022! So taking into consideration how quick Rebirth was made, which was about 4-5 years... Imagine Part 3 started in 2022, 5 years from then would be 2027 and would line up with the time it took Rebirth to be made. They also already have the world built and all of the assets, so that helps! (edit: This is also pure copium, that I thought you might like to indulge in with me haha)
Come on John... this is fantastic!! The Game Awards snub pissed me off, so I'm really pulling for him to make the shortlist. He truly deserves it and personally for me, he stole both Remake and Rebirth with his performances!
Idk about the song being for the whole party bc if you listen PTK at the very end during the credits it’s longer than the one Aerith performs and it talks about meeting for the first time on worn cobblestones and how they will meet again in our place. Our place is the Church where Aerith takes Cloud in the dream date. Where he fell through the roof in Remake. None of the other party members have even ever been to the church with Aerith. You could say Zach was and some folks think the song is for him. But worn cobblestones is Loveless St. where Cloud and Aerith met the very first time. Zach never met Aerith on Loveless St even once and neither has the rest of the party. I know the devs said the song is for everyone but if you listen to all of the lyrics there’s no way she’s not talking about Cloud. Especially when she’s glancing at him the entire time she’s singing it on stage giving him the in love eyes. I get that some people think the song is for Zach so they have to please everyone and I could see how she is also saying goodbye to the rest of the squad but the song very much seems primarily for Cloud 🤷🏻♀️
@ definitely not. I’m actually a brand new fan just got into ff7 this year. I think Cloud loves both the girls from the looks of things but there’s no way the song wasn’t for Cloud. And you seem slightly savage btw.
@ But isn’t there like some 30 year old war between the fans about Zach and Aerith being together and not with Cloud? I found out this year about it so I don’t know much about it but I saw when I started researching the story so I could understand what was happening. It’s like they have to say that stuff bc won’t the fans freak out if they confirm it one way or another? I see people say it’s for Zach and idgi bc the lyrics are so plain. Like who else met Aerith on Loveless St? Literally no one else. But then when I see people say it’s obvious it’s for Zach and plain to them that it’s for Zach and it’s so confusing.
Nojima wrote the song in Japanese. The English translators had to change the lyrics to fit the melody. The direct translation for the lyrics is more vague. It doesn't say cobblestones and our street in the Japanese version. People can say the one word street is specific to Cloud. Nojima probably didn't think the word street was towards Cloud but more of an umbrella term for the places Aerith has met by chance instead of fate. She met most of the people she cared about in Midgar. I think it kind of bite them in the butt for trying to get an English singer instead of a Japanese singer because people are too hyper focus on the English version of the song instead of the Japanese lyrics. Zack and Aerith have been to the church a dozen times. Zack fell through the church's roof as well. Cloud and Aerith have only been to the church once. They were mainly trying to get out of there from Reno. The English lyrics say oir street, not our spot. If Aerith wanted Cloud to meet in their street, they would have gone to that street. The church is a magical place. It is most likely Aerith wanted Cloud to go there to get back into the main world. The same portal and spot where Zack fell into whatever world he is at the end of the game. Aerith was not looking at Cloud/the person he was next to the whole time while she was singing, maybe once or twice. She is mainly looking at the audience in front of her. Aerith was crying after her performance. The friends she met throughout her journey came to support her. People are over analyzing the lyrics way too much to the point, especially the shipping side to disagreeing and discounting the person like Nojima, who wrote the song.

Most likely, those who are hating the game are mainly posting it on Twitter, so it's not really that surprising and noticeable
Don't know why, even if the overall plot was weaker than remake, the character work is by far the most enjoyable of rebirths narrative.
Or maybe it is because people keep telling them that they can't judge the remake series story because "the story is not done yet"/"wait for part 3"/etc, yet people can throw all the praise and all the glory they can muster at the story. BAFTAs are the only awards I respect. They really favour talent over politics. It's a massive sign of FF7's quality that they have been nominated.
Good to hear that they are considered for the Baftas, if anything it will raise the profile of the game in the entertainment industry if anything!
So happy JB got a nom! And of course Cody as well, but JB was being criminally overlooked by other award shows.
