  • Hello guys and gals, it's me Mutahar again! This time with me talking about your computer safety once again. With Android being the largest platform in the world it's a shame some of the signing keys have been leaked. Signing keys allow malware to stay hidden and installed on software without a passing glance. Why is this a bad thing? Let's find out! Thanks for watching!

I have personally seen many, and I mean many hacked/stolen files taken from both Apple devices and Android devices. The idea that one has better security than the other is ridiculous to me. At the end of the day, it all comes down to how you personally manage your own data because if you rely on any of these companies to secure your data they will fail you many times over.

The best security you can have is caution. You can't trust any company to be secure, as a lot of companies don't invest enough into security. Android is way better if you like tinkering with stuff, but for some people, the enclosed system is a necessity. I've seen what sht my uncle downloaded, he uses android and he just likes to click on everything he sees. He told me that his phone is doing unusual stuff, if i could look at it. He had somehow gotten pop up adds all over his his home screen so they were covering everything and the phone was incredibly laggy, he got bombarded with notifications for shady sites literally 1-2 times a second and way more stuff he did to it, the touchscreen was unresponsive and it didn't even want to turn off. It was the first time i ever saw anyone (in person) to completely brick their phone like that. (I fixed it in the end, but i was dumbfounded how that happened, he told me that he was clicking on popups on porn sites to see those hot milfs in his neighbourhood xd)
On android, you have to not be dumb with installing stuff, but for some people, no matter what security you give them, they will overcome it to brick their own devices.
The biggest threat to security of a device is the owner.

Even with Androids not being as safe, I still prefer it. I've always had iphones and switched to android back in late 2020 (S20 FE) and it's been the best phone decision I've made. I know muta makes the weird complaint of using your phone for candy crush or some other game. But that's the thing, If I'm getting an oil change, at the doctors, or any other place I'm waiting and have downtime, why not bust out my phone and play some mobile games. I specifically got android so I can use emulators. You can use emulators on ios but you have to jump through some hoops to get it to work and allow permissions from some shady sellers and even then after 5 minutes Apple will lock you out of the app. If I get a virus or whatever on my android, it's my own fault but that's also why I like it. It keeps me accountable and to do my due diligence and research everything I can about certain apps. I've gotten more android and ios savvy after making the switch than if I just stayed with ios.

@@KopfdesRiesen The problem with iphones is that repairs and replacements are much more expensive. Important applications also tend to support Android smartphones much longer. for example Whatsapp is still supported on phones running Android 4.1 (released mid 2012) while you need ios 12 (released late 2018) to run whatsapp. Old android phones remain functional for longer even if not being nearly as secure or as performant as old iPhones. (A phone running android 4.1 in 2022 is probably a ticking bomb of malware, but hey you may be able to avoid it by being very careful).

Interesting. Didn't read about this before.
For play store (and other Android app stores) it should be easy to verify (by google) that APK was signed with Samung's keys, but wasn't uploaded by Samsung.
I don't install random APKs from internet, but I was assuming people that do this (some of them might be a bit reckless), don't check that APK was signed by Samsung and is therefore "trustworthy". And the malware doesn't need a system signing key to access some data/resources (or can use some kernel vulnerability to elevate privileges)

I use my phone for specific games, and both have advantages. I don't know what they are for IOS, but for Android, it lets you explore the root files a bit more freely.

You can de-Google an Android as it is an open source software. Also Apple has been giving in when it comes to their privacy claims. No phone is safe from vulnerabilities and prying eyes.

My phone is actively trying forcing me to delete what few files I want to make room for more forced updates. It’s over six years old at this point. I keep getting a no space warning even though its got like 30 MBs left. Even though I’ve made space for it to get rid of the warning it keeps coming back. I think it’s trying to cue up a new update but it can’t force update because there isn’t enough space.

    • @alex15095

I believe with some ROMs you'll have the issue where it's not an update at all, but rather a system log file that keeps growing infinitely. It could also be an app that's growing infinitely, I had this issue with DuckDuckGo browser where it'd just eat 9GB of space and beyond. If your phone isn't rooted and it's not an app then the only way to fix it might be to do a factory reset

1:40, I don't think it was them saying that I-Phones can't be hacked, but more along the lines of them marketing their phones saying that what happens on your iphones, stays on your iphones, then it get hacked a couple months after and some celebrity nudes got leaked. I think that was the story.
