I did this down in Texas a lot over the last four years. I fished small lakes and ponds. Bandit crank baits work the best. All you had to do was find the first break off the bank and troll it. I have caught hundreds of 14" and up crappie doing this. Nice video!
Excellent fishing video, very entertaining and instructional. Never thought about trolling/pulling crank baits like you did. Thanks a lot for sharing your skill with us.
Another good one. I noticed you had your head swiveling this time, lookin for those bites. That 13.5 incher was NICE. Wish you hadn't lost those 2 pounders.
Thanks for explaining how you knew the lures were running around 20' deep (about the 13:30 min mark). I was curious about your method at the start of video and I'm glad you brought it back up. New sub. Thanks for the video!
Mike, just discovered your videos and they really good. I want to try cranks for crappie here in on Lake Martin in Alabama. What time of year, or what water temp is best for pulling cranks for crappie?
You can start pulling them with water in the upper 50’s if you pull them slow. The warmer the water the better it gets! 70’s and 80’s are best. Thanks for watching.
Your videos are very instructive--among the best I've seen. Very clear, concise and with sufficient detail. Thanks. Can't wait to try it. By the way, in one of your videos you mentioned the Bass Pro Graphite series rods--it may have been in the one on pulling cranks behind planer boards. Anyway, I bought several and found them quite stiff. Will they work for straight pulling of the Bandits with no planer boards?
You mentioned that your lure was running about 20' down. How are you getting the bait down so deep? I thought the running depth for bandit 300 was 10-12'. I really enjoy your crappie trolling videos!
These are Berkeley Cherrywood rods. A very nice inexpensive rod. St. Croix crankbait rods are much nicer but more expensive. I use the St. Croixs when tournament fishing.I generally use Diawa reels.

Truly
Enjoy all your video's !!!! Thank you
Nice set up, I am a big Bandit crankbait fan as well but never have used them for crappie so I am going to try them on Chickamauga in Tennessee.
Thanks for the video. Your tips help me catch more fish.
I stand corrected on the number of rods an angler can use in Missouri. You can use 33 rods per angler when crankbait trolling. You need several more.
Another awesome informative video Sir. Thank you very much.
Must be a catfish boat
Great video! Looks like you really got those big crappies dialed in..

Thanks for watching.
Very nice video. I will be using your techniques on my home lake. Thanks!!
Good luck! Thanks for watching.
I wish I could have that many lines in. Minnesota's dnr is very restrictive.
Right
Great video Mike! Btw, what kind of boat/model/year is that and did it come equipped with the chairs and waffle hole flooring? TYSM!
Sea Ark Pro Cat. Can't remember the year. I added the seats and flooring.
Great videos.. Keep them coming.
What is shallowest you will pull the bandit 300 through, before going to the 200?
20 ft.
Very, very good, fisher! Congratulation ...
I have already signed up. Greetings from a Brazilian.
Thank you.
What rod holders are you using? Is the support bar a custom unit?
Driftmaster rod holders on a custom bar.
Mike, what speed do you troll at Spring, Summer , Fall?
1.6 is my confidence speed but I will speed up or slow down depending on water conditions and temp. Slower in colder water.
Cant teel for sure but the orange bandit may be UT orange.
Another excellent video. I believe the bandit color is Orange Crush.

They are great for planer boards but I think they are a little stiff for flat lining. They will work but probably not ideal for that application.
nice video what brand of boat do you have
Sea Ark Procat 240.
You mentioned that your lure was running about 20' down. How are you getting the bait down so deep? I thought the running depth for bandit 300 was 10-12'. I really enjoy your crappie trolling videos!
8 lb. line and a long cast. I know from experience and tests that they will get down that deep.
@@MikeBakerVideos Thanks Mike! I really enjoy your trolling videos!
Excellent!
Awesome video. Like to go with you sometime.
Can someone who is a pro crappie fishing pro request a Abu Garcia 25oo with line count er
"I searched world over and I thought I found true love, but"... I can't find those seats. My back just cant take the standard boat seats. Where?
They look like they came out of a Van...
What length of rods do you use for pulling cranks like this?
7’.
What would you charge for a trip down to lake ozarks to show me the ropes I would really like to get a better idea before I get started solo?
Sorry, but I don't do guide trips.
What kind of boat are you running
That boat is a Sea Ark Pro Cat 240.
What type of reels and rods do you recommend?
These are Berkeley Cherrywood rods. A very nice inexpensive rod. St. Croix crankbait rods are much nicer but more expensive. I use the St. Croixs when tournament fishing.I generally use Diawa reels.
Will white and black Crappie hit crank baits
Yes!
I just got into cranking a few years ago. Love it!!!! Check out my setup on TH-cam , how we pull crank baits. You'll see a totally different setup.
what we need? another f pole lmao
Mike, how can I contact you?
Dave Holzner send me a private message on Facebook.
Are the 7’ Cabela Cherywood (medium weight) a better choice?
For just general flat lining I would say yes.
How deep do the crankbaits your using run?
15 to 20 ft.
