Prince did a interview on Larry King Live. He was talking about his first manager , Prince lied and said he could not remember his first managers name. But yet Prince lived with Owen for 3 and a half years. Prince and Owen must of had some type of falling out for Prince to pretend that he forgot Owens name. There is another interview of Owen and he mentions that Prince acted like he didn't remember him on Larry King. Owen acted like he was pissed about that. Owen said , HE REMEMBERS ME ! LOL ....Owen stumbled upon a Goldmine when he met young Prince and Owen knew it. But Prince was no fool even as a kid. Also in another interview Owen said , Prince stated to him that he no longer wanted him to manage him. Prince was determined that no one was going to control him or run his show even at a young age. The man was a genius at a very young age in more ways than one. It wasn't just music. Prince had great visions that he made happen even when big executives told him he couldn't do.certain things. Prince went beond his own means and made big things happen. I think if he had not done music. , he would had still been famous because of his great gifted mind. Prince was defiantly gifted.
April West YUPPERZ!!! These dayz, thangz r a whole lot different, 2. Hunsey can look back fondly & recall, bcause he still got sumthin, out of da deal. Nowadayz, xecutivez, want it all. They usually git it. If they don't..... Dat can b yo azz. ( & I'm being facetious. Sam Cooke, probably told da wrong xecutive no, & he came b4 Prince. )
April West I remember that interview.Your probably right they must of had a falling out. To be exact Prince said " My first manager who"s name escapes me" He sarcastically said that as if he did not want to remember him. I guess Prince didn"t like where Owen was going in terms of his career. None the less Prince made the right move.
b g You know that old saying. Money is the root of all evil ? I bet money and control had alot to do with it. Just like Warner brothers wanted the money and the control.. ,so did Warren. We never heard of this guy before. But now Prince is dead . All of a sudden Warren pops up talking about Prince In several interviews and now he is promoting a new book. .of course Prince is in his book. Warren is making money off dead Prince like the rest of them vultures.
b g I will say this much. Owen says interesting and positive things about young Prince. He keeps on the professional side of Prince. I actually enjoy hearing him speak about Prince. But I know he's speaking to make money.
wow this is a prince story...husney is smart ...the 45 min documentary worth it for hearing ...check this out so you can get that fucking 16 year old kid was a genious from start and a genious till nowadays ...
Why didn’t he say who brought the demo to him. Sounds like there was another player involved. Who was the artist in his band that produced the demo and went in to fame, Rivkin?

@@sweetpain67 Chris Moon was there for Prince's next steps toward his goal. Chris showed Prince how to use the soundboard and other recording equipment in his 8-track studio. He convinced Prince to use only his first name as his stage name. Chris gave Prince the lyrics to Prince's first hit song on Prince's first album and Prince's first demos were recorded in Chris's studio. That is the demo that he handed Owen Husney while Prince was out east trying to shop himself to record labels there. David Rivkin is the one who produced and engineered the demo that went out to LA.
His book was an interesting read .... u think P would have been more appreciative of Owen... but that’s Prince he answered to no one... he was an asshole to so many people... but so what ..he’s one of the greatest musicians that ever lived
Big dollar signs flash in his eyes when he says with a smile ".. I held on to a lot of rights which I settled later on, so everything turned out very nicely." Who knows how many millions Prince made for this guy while he sat back and counted the money in later years? That's what you call backing a winner :D
Well said, he backed a winner. Prince could have done a lot worse, Owen really believed in Prince and put in a lot of hard work getting him ready for the majors.
I'm glad that Pepe Willie fired his ass and Prince got rid of him cuz he wasn't doing what a manager was supposed to be doing for Prince but Husney left all of that out in his interviews.
Good to see you, OWEN!! Prince loves you!! So DO WE!!

I luv Prince , but yes he was a ass hole.
Yep, when you dance to the beat of your own drum you can come off as an asshole. And I agree.....so what?
Two sides. Perhaps this guy did some things also.

John Arundell Well put ; backing a winner.
John Arundell prince was tired of this guy getting large amounts of the purple pie that's why prince got away from him.
