Bake at the same temperature 180C but baking time depends on the size of your pan, keep checking for doneness after 30 mins of Baking by inserting a toothpick in the centre
I made it last week after seeing an old video. Thank you for sharing this.. its 100% better than any plum cake i had. Blog was helpful to double check the recipe when needed. Stored it for a week by adding rum. And most toughest part was to hide it from kids 😂. Can i store it for more days without adding more rum? I want to keep it for 2,3 weeks
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I would recommend brushing with rum once a week for a longer storage time to prevent it from drying out. Maybe keep it refrigerated just to be safe.
Pls check this on how to soak th-cam.com/video/QWadJnBVkHs/w-d-xo.html Also Written Recipe with step by step instructions in my blog theartisticcook.com/how-to-soak-fruits-for-christmas-plum-cake/
Storing instructions are shown in the video from 8:29 Due to alcohol, it has a long shelf life. Feed with the strained juices from the soaked dry fruits or Rum every once a week, lasts several months. I usually keep it at room temperature for a day to soak the rum and then refrigerated airtight.
Thanks, not much idea as I don't sell but it depends on what dry fruits were used. Since I used expensive ones like cranberries, black raisins etc this should be between 800-1K maybe 🤔
Yes, definitely But please weigh all the ingredients in grams using a weighing scale to get perfect results as when we use measuring cups we tend to put either more or less resulting in a wrong texture
Yes you can but do not soak more than a Day as orange juice spoils fast. Also after baking, keep the cake refrigerated airtight if not serving within two three days.
Also can i use 5 inch tin round for exact half recipe? Will loaf tin work for this recipe ?? Baked half recipe twice..got around 350g cake each time.... i used 6 and 5 inch pan , i got a thin cake both times
I used a 6 inch tin for this recipe, so if you use the same recipe for a 5 inch tin without halfing you will get more height but dividing into half will result in thin cake as less batter. If you need more height you need to put more batter. You can check out my 1 Kg Plum Cake Recipe if you need a bigger cake th-cam.com/video/8Aeo-Ne9Eg0/w-d-xo.html
Also do weigh all the ingredients using a weighing scale as shown in grams to get accurate result. Written Recipe with step by step pics also in my blog 📝theartisticcook.com/chocolate-plum-cake-using-rum/
Brushing the cake with Rum helps to preserve the Cake for a long time but you can skip this if you don't want to. Cake should not be too moist if followed all the measurements using a weighing scale in grams
I think you have overcooked the Caramel to a burnt stage which makes it bitter. Cook the caramel always on Lowest heat to avoid bitterness. Do Check out my video and also my blog with step by step pics carefully theartisticcook.com/chocolate-plum-cake-using-rum/
Yes Bake at 180 degree C for 1 hour plus 10-15 mins. Pls note this is time for a 6 inch tin, if you use a bigger Tin like 7 or 8 inch the time will be shorter. Use a toothpick to check if cake is done when top looks set
Place the fruits halfway through the baking once the top looks almost set as shown in the video. I have tried coating with flour but they will still be half immersed on top
I Baked @180C for 1 hour plus 10-15 mins i.e Total time only 70-75 mins. After 20 mins of Baking I pull it out to place the nuts on top and again continue baking till baked. Pls note baking time can vary based on your tin size or material used.

Bake at the same temperature 180C but baking time depends on the size of your pan, keep checking for doneness after 30 mins of Baking by inserting a toothpick in the centre

What have you used in the top in black colour is it black raisin or some berries??
Black Raisin & Dried Blueberries, Reddish ones Dried Cranberries.
What is dry ingredients batches
It means to add the Sifted Flour mix in two parts folding it into the batter. If we mix all at once, it gets difficult to get incorporated
Any option if brown sugar is not available?
You can use white sugar instead same quantity
Instead of sugar can we use jaggery powder and if so how much
Yes you can though since Jaggery is less sweeter than Sugar, you may need to add bit more than the Sugar qty mentioned in the recipe
This looks so good! I will be using a convection oven. Will the temperature and duration be the same?
Depends on which size and material you will be using to Bake? I used a 6 inch Aluminum tin
Mam shall i use oil instead of butter
Yes, you can use oil instead of butter, but it might change the texture a bit.
Can we replace muscovado sugar with regular white or brown sugar?
Yes you can
Can we avoid oil and use butter instead?
Yes you can,1 Tablespoon oil was added to make the cake moist as cocoa powder tends to make it dry
Hi. Will adding white sugar change the dark color of the cake ? As brown sugar helps in darker colour of the cake
Yes it might change the color
Can I use brown sugar or powdered jaggery?
Yes you can
How to soak dry fruits
Pls check this on how to soak th-cam.com/video/QWadJnBVkHs/w-d-xo.html Also Written Recipe with step by step instructions in my blog theartisticcook.com/how-to-soak-fruits-for-christmas-plum-cake/
Hi how to store it and what is the shelf life for this

Awesome rich mouthwatering moist plum cake😍👌🏻Any idea how much wud this one sell for??
Thanks, not much idea as I don't sell but it depends on what dry fruits were used. Since I used expensive ones like cranberries, black raisins etc this should be between 800-1K maybe 🤔
Plz share a fruit cake recipe with egg
This Recipe does contain Eggs
Please guide if made with 2 large cups of flour at the same time , will all the ingredients get doubled?
Yes, definitely But please weigh all the ingredients in grams using a weighing scale to get perfect results as when we use measuring cups we tend to put either more or less resulting in a wrong texture
@theartisticcook much appreciated, thank you.
Can i soak the nuts in orange juice rather than rum ?
Yes you can but do not soak more than a Day as orange juice spoils fast. Also after baking, keep the cake refrigerated airtight if not serving within two three days.
Instead brown sugar, how much white sugar can i use?
You can use same amount 3/4 Cup | 150g
Without egg is it possible to bake
Yes Do Check out the Eggless recipe th-cam.com/video/EzP8XjtDdws/w-d-xo.html
Also can i use 5 inch tin round for exact half recipe? Will loaf tin work for this recipe ??
Baked half recipe twice..got around 350g cake each time.... i used 6 and 5 inch pan , i got a thin cake both times

If the cake it already too moist, should i still feed it with the juices on top, will it make it soggy or too moist ?
Brushing the cake with Rum helps to preserve the Cake for a long time but you can skip this if you don't want to. Cake should not be too moist if followed all the measurements using a weighing scale in grams
Could you share the ingredients in grams thanks in advance
It's mentioned In the description as well as the video, Written Recipe in my blog too theartisticcook.com/chocolate-plum-cake-using-rum/
Haiii....can you please tell me the 1/2 kg measurements ...... because I have so many orders in 1/2 kg weight
You can double this recipe and distribute the batter into 3 small 5 inch Tins to get 500g each
Theres a slight (very little) bitter taste to my cake i followed this recipe.. is it cz of cocoa or caramel or the lime juice? How do i fix it ?
I think you have overcooked the Caramel to a burnt stage which makes it bitter. Cook the caramel always on Lowest heat to avoid bitterness. Do Check out my video and also my blog with step by step pics carefully theartisticcook.com/chocolate-plum-cake-using-rum/
Sister 180c 1hr 10-15 mins means
180 degree 1 hr 10 mins?
Yes Bake at 180 degree C for 1 hour plus 10-15 mins. Pls note this is time for a 6 inch tin, if you use a bigger Tin like 7 or 8 inch the time will be shorter. Use a toothpick to check if cake is done when top looks set
@ in my life time first time im trying a cake. All measurements as said in video. Cake output was so good.
A very nice cake but I want to make it for an 8 inch cake tin
Ok then try this 1 kg recipe which I made in an 8 inch tin th-cam.com/video/8Aeo-Ne9Eg0/w-d-xo.html
The cake taste amazing, my only issue is the fruits still sink to the bottom.... too much moisture in the fruit or should i coat with abit of flour?
Place the fruits halfway through the baking once the top looks almost set as shown in the video. I have tried coating with flour but they will still be half immersed on top
Toll🎉🎉🎉
Like 7 Nice one
Thank you! Cheers!
Why do you bake first for 50mins first and then for 45mins again when the tooth pick comes out clean in the very first 50mins ??
I Baked @180C for 1 hour plus 10-15 mins i.e Total time only 70-75 mins. After 20 mins of Baking I pull it out to place the nuts on top and again continue baking till baked. Pls note baking time can vary based on your tin size or material used.
What will be the cake weight in ths recipe?
755grams
Can I use salted butter??
Yes you can just skip the extra salt added in the dry ingredients
