Nah I think they were right about the mother opening the first portal because the time she died, was like 20 years before Vecna and 011 fight, and as we know, when vecna kills someone a portal opens

The whole reason for the portal opening is so that vecna could escape upside down and capture the real world. If what you're saying is true then so many portals would have been opened in the lab when 001 killed all those children.
