I love flying. Spirit is awesome for day trips where you dont need anything other than a personal item. Just make sure you're fine with the mask mandate.
Wow look at all the old liveries. ...and Air Tran. Never realized how much the pilots actually go through, to get us from A to B. They are much appreciated. Nice Video.
Fascinating. I’m always so impressed by the professionalism and discipline of the people who fly these planes and of those who direct them from the ground. It takes a level of attention I doubt many of us could ever muster.
@@aberaj2761 "Cactus" was the callsign for US Airways, actually inherited from America West Airlines post-merger with US Airways. The callsign for Air Tran was "Citrus", I guess from being headquartered in Orlando, FL.
They earn that paycheck for sure !.... I have trouble remembering to release that parking brake before I back out of my drive (lol)...... Thank You for the fun flight.
Great job inside the cockpit, was able to read most of the controls and switches... Something that you don't always get to really see that clearly. 👍👍👍👍
I flew the Air Canada E190 for many years and now I’m on the B787. It’s all coming back to me here. Haha. Miss the Mexican restaurant in the terminal and the gong show when taxing. ;) Flew with Gordon also. Hi Gordo
Runway 13 is such a better departure to see the sights of Manhattan and NYC. You take a nice gradual right turn over Flushing and you get to see Laguardia and the runway you just left after about 1 min in the air. Very cool departure. Just make sure you sit on the right side of the plane for a runway 13 departure!
Loved this video! About to fly down to Orlando from Newark in JetBlue’s E-190 (a bit bigger than this model). Still nervous, as I get claustrophobic easily. I flew on Spirit’s A320 in the past and was fine because it’s much bigger than an Embraer E-190. Wish me luck haha
If people knew all the work a pilot has to go thru to ready a plane before take off and flight they would be impressed. My father was a commercial airline pilot and over my life I had to listen to not so intelligent people make remarks like being a pilot was only one step up from a bus driver. My dad and all pilots were and are one step below an astronaut. Great video!
Yeah you can see the US Air cleared for takeoff. I know some AA had some US air livery for a bit after the merger but he's still using a Cactus callsign in the takeoff clearance readback
@@derekrohan9619 You're really going to nitpick that? US Air was simply renamed US Airways and many people still called it US air for short. You know what I was talking about man
Very nice flight, used to work for American airlines aka us airways, saw a Boeing 757 land on that runway, was very surprised. But very nice flight. Please show more vlogs.
JP, yes this may be dated, but I really enjoyed the fine details and videography you presented on a RJ, since we see mostly the larger aircraft in all AV geek videos. Seeing the plane I have spent many a hours in and on was a great change of pace. Please do some other RJs as well!
Very interesting video. Thank you for sharing it with the rest of us!! I've one question though that I hope you can answer for me!! I understand it's a procedural requirement for airlines to perform safety checks before each take off to ensure all is in good operating and working condition. If that is so, then how does one explain recent PIA disaster in Karachi, India??The crew should have found out during their safety inspection, provided one was performed, if there was a problem with the main landing gear?? Over 90 people had perished because the main landing gear had failed!!!
When there is an accident...there is always a reason or multiple reasons. That is why they are called accidents. In hindsight..virtually all accidents are preventable. But that is hindsight. Negligence...bad decisions...wrong decisions and mechanical failures are some of the reasons. We are human.
Thanks very much Suzanne, glad you enjoyed it. On the one hand I'll say that anything can fail on a plane during the flight so its not something you will necessarily find before the flight... things happen during the flight.... on the other hand while I would never speculate about a crash before the official report is in it does appear there was no problem with the landing gear as it was lowered just before landing and then for some reason raised.... but it also appears they were too high and fast and not by a bit.... you can read more about it on the websites that cover accident crashes. If you google the accident I'm sure you'll find more details.
Thanks very much Alex. We used to film US airlines until 9/11. That essentially ended our cockpit access in the USA but back in the days we did film United Airlines, Continental, Alaska Airlines and about 10 others.
Lol the e175 "don't wanna blind people" phenomenon with the strobes. You aren't going to blind anyone. You're on the active runway. Turn the strobes on.
Indeed the 2 responses are correct. We sometimes post brand new videos but we also post older ones. Keep in mind we have been filming for 30 years now so we have a huge library and we like to show our older work too sometimes ;)
Been a minute since i’ve seen Air Tran on the tarmac. I know it’s an old video but I used to fly airtran all the time Edit: Holy old american and united livery’s hahaha
I always love to look outside my house at the LGA plane line and see an air Canada and then I calmly and peacefully and quietly say… “ *THAT PLANE IS FROM TORONTO NO WAY AIR CANADAAAA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!* “
Embraer really made a good plane, and I think it's a lot to do with not having a bunch of boomers they had to satisfy per se. The task was "make an awesome aircraft" and they win.
I'm sure this is in one of the 154 comments below, but if not, the "Mask Deployed" annunciation on the overhead is a "positive indication only" of a successful deployment of the PAX oxygen on the overhead. It's similar to your "Parking Brake" indicator light. An unsuccessful deployment of the oxygen masks will result in an amber "PAX OXY NOT DEPLOYED" CAS message on your EICAS and no light on the "Mask Deployed" indication. This is not a "pushbutton" type switch.

Im an aircraft mechanic and I love working on the ERJ series. Super easy to troubleshoot and diagnose.
How about them CRjs? lol
Just flew to and back from Washington DC on an Embraer 175. Kind of cool to see the cockpit! Haven't flown in 20 years before that.
Watching these videos and witnessing the professionalism of the pilots, I'm beginning to be more open to flying. I haven't flown since 2007. Thanks.
That’s great. Hopefully you get back to flying soon 👍
Same I recently went to Florida. Marking my record as the farthest I’ve traveled by air. The past has been to only one destination, Dominican Republic

I loved flying the E170...it was the perfect balance between a plane you could hand fly and an automatic jet.

As well as US airways....and the old united before the contintental acquisition
I just fly little Cessna's, but the cockpit looks relatively clean compared to the size of the plane. A lot fewer knobs and switches than I expected.
I flew two times on this aircraft last week. Feels like a sports car, even in the cabin.

About and hour and 15 if that

Just an explanation for this neophyte: is that control stick shape normal in the aviation industry or it's just an Embraer thing?
That’s just with embraers for the most part. Boeings and CRJs have yokes and airbuses have side sticks
