- During the college football game between Georgia and Missouri, Missouri kicker Harrison Mevis had arguably the best game of his career as he finished 5/5 with multiple kicks from 50+ yards. His big field goals helped Missouri lead top ranked Georgia for much of the game although Georgia ended up pulling out a close 26-22 win. The big performance by Mevis comes one week after he missed a potential game winning chip shot field goal against Auburn.

If I am a scout for the NFL I would rather have the kicker who can mentally regroup and then perform huge in the next game then the guy who was perfect his entire career because what happens during the time that perfect kicker fails? Does he have the mental fortitude to ever perform again? I don't want to find that out in the NFL level! Harrison Mevis will be a big talk of the draft if he can keep this going.

@@jmec75 true, but there’s been so many stories of kickers who just could not miss, until they did, and they weren’t the same after. A kicker with a strong mental game is arguably more important than a strong leg or accurate one
I'm leaning towards the kicker who hits the pressure kick at the end of the game to win it, myself. Which would probably include the guy who was perfect his entire career.
You should probably pass on that football scouting career.

It's really too bad they lost. Congrats to that kicker. Phenomenal example of overcoming adversity. His number was called 5 times, and 5 times he nailed it under pressure, with a long of 56. Hat is off to you, Mevis!
Always good to see a kicker regroup like this. They have bad days, and the good ones can refocus and get back to making field goals. With an ability to bounce back and a leg like that, I would be shocked if he wasn't playing on Sundays.

I met Mevis when I was 9 and he was 10. Always been a determined kid and watching his career so far has been something else.

It's cool to get to see the kicker shine. This dude put on an absolute clinic. Must have worked his tail off during the week.
He is a hell of a kicker. The dude put on a show and kept the pressure on my Dawgs with those great kicks.
I'm impressed how he bounced back after the Auburn game. One bad game doesn't define a player, he has been really good at Missouri in his career.

Reminds of 1992 Arkansas vs #4 Tennessee. Arkansas's kicker had FOUR 45+ yarder field goals (including a 51-yarder), one tackle, and one forced fumble. He also secured the win on a last-second 41-yard field goal. Dude won Player of the Game. Havent seen anything like that from a kicker until today.

The last kick was so hype watching it live.
As a dawgs fan we had no business winning this game. The past two games we have looked like an unranked team, not number one.
I was at this game had we won the fans would of torn down the goalposts that night. The energy was unlike anything o had seen at faurot.
As a kicker myself this shit makes me pumped. I know how hard it is to get back into the game especially when we only have 3 attempts most games.
