This is a great guide on shottypes! The Flops, Pick, Spinner are my bread and butter in this game. Greens are very unforgiving, so new players get that accuracy and controle up before anything else! (this also solves most of your "putting problems" ;-)

I think a small missed opportunity was not having mulligans turned on. When you're describing what would have happened had you not done X or Y, you could actually prove it immediately. Not a criticism, just some constructive feedback. I'm new to the game and appreciate your insights.
My biggest pet peeve so far about this game is how to use the stick for topspin and backspin. Moving the dot left or right on the ball causes the ball to spin as if it were a cue ball, and you struck it with the cue at that spot. For topspin and backspin, it's the opposite, so it seems counterintuitive. But I suppose I can't blame YOU for that.
This video will definitely help people just starting 10000% I’ve played about 30hr so far and got a good feel for most of these and found my go-to’s. But wish I had this info starting fresh. Great video

Spot on tutorial! Agree on your highlighted shots. The spinner & knock down are excellent! I recommend folks go play Wolf Creek to learn the type of shot type are necessary.
=> IF someone asked me which course I'd like to see added to this game? Merion! It is one of the shortest PGA course, but one of the most difficulty because of the severe sloping greens {#5 for example.} Course management and putting are at a premium. In fact, the greens are more like those found at Augusta! BTW ~> WGT has Merion in the line up of their courses.

I have just got the game (a PC golf veteran) for my Series X and really loving it. Out of interest, how do you get the black line on your swing meter to tell you where to stop your backswing? I don't seem to have it at the moment? Thanks for the great video introductions.
Love that! So you can change the power meter in the HUD settings to classic which will add the black line on the swing meter. Hope this helps! Have fun!

Hi mate! Greetings from the UK! Great video thankyou. I am confused a little though and wondering if you can clear something up with the finesse shots. Mine always land near and roll away backwards so should I be adding the loft or the deloft? I want it to stop as dead as possible like the flop! Thankyou
I generally hit it low. I still sometimes roll backwards though. It's a dart sometimes.
Dude this is the most helpful video out about this game. Just got it, it was fun but just like real golf was so frustrating because I couldn’t do well. After this my shots r so much better and it’s so much more fun. I know u explained it in the video, but how does the loft thing on the right work, because I never really use it and you kept talking about it. Last y when I try to use it can I only move the left stick down a little and not as far as u can. Thanks sm.
Thank you for the kind words! Glad it was helpful! So as you increase your control stat you can add more loft or deloft on the shot. So if you move the stick up it adds loft to the shot which will add more backspin as well. That is why I do it on almost every shot to help get more back spin. If you move the stick down it delofts the shot hitting the ball lower in the air which will lead to more roll outs. Hope this helps!

Glad it was helpful! So you actually divide the feet shown by 3 to get how many yards the elevation will affect the shot. So uphill will take off that many yards and downhill will add that many yards to the carry distance. Hope this helps!
What’s the best bag setup for general career gameplay? I noticed you have a number of different hybrids.
Hi pal, quick question,could you tell me if I can buy a putter shaft in the game because it really isn't clear which shaft for which club
Man , I went from +2 and more, to making almost pure birdies, after watching your videos!
I still have to learn a bit about dialing in when the slops raises or falls (math wise and placement wise) but... yeah..also getting a bit confused about when to use loft or deloft haha :D
Edit: And I just went and made a tiny hole in one from 150yards with a finesse shot....
My only problem is - I can't figure out when the finesse shot will do a backspin or not. Usually when I use my 3 iron, it just keeps rolling straight ahead when landing - no back roll or anything. It has made me miss quite a few birds. :/
Love to hear that!!! Glad the videos have been helpful! So this may help with the finesse shot. So hitting a finesse shot even with full loft on woods, hybrids, and 3-6 irons basically cannot generate backspin. So in those ranges use the approach shot with full loft for more spin. Now when hitting a 7 iron and above with loft that is when you can generate a lot more backspin and spin the ball back with a finesse shot. Now with wedges you have to be very careful with loft, because you can get a lot of backspin with finesse shots with wedges. Sometime I fully deloft wedge shots into the green when i want less back spin. Hope this helps! Have fun!

Regarding wind comming from two angles (NE, SE etc) - do you then adjust 1yd pr mph in both directions? Like 5mph from SE is 5yd S and then 5yd E?

Here's something I realize today goes along with tips and tricks if you create a new golfer by clicking on the bottom-right tab you start from scratch what's your name your golfer and create them if you go to your clubs. You get all the VC that you have in your other character plus all of the attributes you've bought in for the clubs legendary and such. Check it out.. Your new creative character starts off amazing because they get all the specs
Another tip is the money you earned is for all golfers so you can boost the cash if you don't already have the clubs yet with your added characters.
Game is too easy vs AI unless you restrict yourself to never unlock certain shot types like spinner and pick shot for example.
Also you really can't use any specs if you want the game to be realistically challenging. Cool part is you can install specs for online play only quickly.
Is the finesse shot only for certain distances or for certain clubs, sometimes when I use the finesse shot with like a 3 iron it goes too far
Could you please explain how to calculate elevation and how much further/closer to land the ball?
It peaked my interest when you were talking about the spinner shot and you said “it’s 6ft uphill, 6 divided by 3 is 2, add 2 yards”. How is this calculated and why is it divided by 3? Thanks!
So every 3 feet uphill takes off around 1 yard from the shot, and for downhill it will add 1 yard to the shot. So easiest way to do it is just divide the feet shown on elevation by 3 and that will give you how many yards to compensate. Now this works for most shots, but for extreme examples like at wolf creek it will not be exact. Hope this helps!
Could you make a video on wind multipliers like you did for 2k23?
Weird how the graphics for changing loft make it look like you're hitting the ball lower, which should add more loft instead of less. Seems opposite to me.
I know your comment is 6 months old, but I just got this on sale yesterday. Thought the same thing. I was wondering why all of my shots were rolling out so much and going “imagine how much worse my shot would’ve been if I didn’t hit it lower on the ball”
I think it’s because the UI has the stick on the center of the ball, so going “low” would be low on the ball. But it’s actually saying you want a lower trajectory

Just bought the game few days ago. Not a fan of having to unlock these types of shots. In 2k23 you can adjust your shot to get these types, but having them from the start. I was really surprised I had to unlock putting off the green.. come on..
Just got the game and was wondering how you got that line on your back swing
So in the Hud settings you can change the shot meter to classic which should add the line/notch at the end. Now if you are referring to the power meter/shot meter itself, that can be turned on in the difficulty settings.

I don’t believe the pick shot is a meta, having blast on uphill bunker shots and long bunker shots is great because it doesn’t have as much dispersion at least thats what i feel

Help!! I can’t figure out how to get out of deep bunkers. Trying either blast or pick shots and neither can get me out, so what’s the secret??
So make sure to move the non-swing stick all the way up to add full loft on the shot which will help. I have actually not ran into a bunker that I could not carry the lip yet using full loft.
@@GamerAbility I believe I was using full loft in one of the deep bunkers at PGA West, La Quinta course, but I'll be sure to try again and make sure. I've actually struggled with the same scenario a couple of times when I've found myself on the wrong side of a steep hill as well near the green, and found it frustrating that I literally had no way to get a shot option to get me on. So basically you're saying 'Pick' shot type with full loft should do it? I shall keep trying when I get in that situation again. Thanks!

Hey Ryan. I’m playing on tournaments and hard swing. Don’t you find this game a little bit too easy? Especially now with the three click swing as well. I find that everything just goes in the fairway. And second shots are beyond easy. And then you hit 2K 23. I know a game is good when my dentist says are you grinding your teeth. And that’s what I do with 2K 23. I’m on the edge on every shot and in control in every shot. Yes the presentation lacks in 2K 23 but I do have to say the gameplay for me is far superior.
Power drive is handy for the sponsorship challenges where they want you to strike a 300+yd drive and is good for courses with huge, wide fairways (like St Andrews, etc) You can grab the driver, go power drive and send that ball. I have the steam achievement for a 400+yd drive all thanks to power drive.

I feel like the lies dont really affect the shot as much as it should. What is your opinion on that? Like if you have a 6.4 degree below your feet, and it's going to shoot to the right. That is a pretty significant lie. I feel like it is not penalizing you like it should.
Yeah lie angles do not affect the ball very much in this game in most cases. They definitely play more with woods and hybrids. But you do not have to compensate very much with them at all.
Just my honest opinion but I think you wasted points doing the extra after gold. Idk if that’s due to not having anything else to put those on but I’d go to what unlocks the gold and stop at that
