Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a child star? It may seem like a great way to get a jump start on your Hollywood career but in some cases it’s ways more trouble than it’s worth. Today we’re going to talk about some of the strict rules these kids are expected to follow and we’ll explain why twins like Mary Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen and Dylan Sprouse and Cole Sprouse have such an advantage over their peers. Disney stars often have their own rules to follow and actress Bella Thorne once found herself in hot water with the company as a result. We’ll also talk about some of the surprising challenges Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint faced on the set of the Harry Potter franchise. Not to mention Millie Bobby Brown and her co-stars on Stranger Things set.

Well some people like one of the Corey's from lost boys get into it because they're homeless or almost homeless and need the money. There's pros and cons to it, but I don't like that parents do it either. Especially pageant parents that force toddlers to strut around in makeup and hair extensions. Some people don't need to have kids.

Starr J I agree but I don’t think pageant parents do it for the money, from what I’ve heard the dresses the coaches the admission fees and flights to pageants all of that is more expensive than the prize not to mention all the time invested into it. It’s more of a way for the parent to live through the kid or to play doll, a horrible thing really

Proper countries have laws for stuff like this, where the kids money get put in a locked bank account which they get access to when they turn 18.
How about a law that forbids producers from auditioning children under 9 alone in his office?

There needs to be a male and female adult in the room for children under 18. That's all. If they don't want the parent there, I can understand. Parents can be overbearing. But definitely, these kids shouldn't be left alone with a strange man in a position of power.
Sky Dome Well it’s not really easy to find kids, and tbh, most good parents are going to have a lot of feelings when it comes to their kids being used for movie roles. Parents don’t need to constantly be constantly near their children for their own protection. They just need to make sure that protective measures are in place - maybe sessions with children should always be recorded, or maybe children should be interviewed in a room with a double mirror. There’s a lot of ways they can put a parent’s mind at ease without having them be constantly two feet from the kid at all times
Sky Dome personally though, I think you would find that if there’s a female adult in the room as a witness to the interview, you really wouldn’t have these problems. Yes, I know we can all fathom hypothetical situations where somehow both the male and female are in on it together and have this elaborate act worked out, but I think that’s incredibly unlikely.

@Chrissy Karika i wouldnt mind if i had the money and my parents spent the money for me...but most of those cases the parents stole the money for their own purposes and left nothing for the child for when they will actually need it....at the end of the day the kids are the ones who make the money in this case so they should have some for themselves too like you cant say that everything your kid does before 18 is yours just because you birthed them like thats not okay!!!! if the kid worked hard for the money when they didnt even have to they deserve every single penny for themselves when they come of age!
I understand them having some money because of the time and effort they have to spend for their child to make that money (so it's basically a job) but why wouldn't they be excited to have their child's life set up financially?!

I almost became a child star. I started with modeling jobs when my sister and I were babies, and the twin factor applies to us too. People constantly told us in childhood that having a twin is super beneficial in the industry. When our parents didn't send us on that path, on occasion (and I'm not kidding), agents have come up to my sister and I together in public and asked if we acted. The last time this happened was a few years ago when I was 16, and waiting with my sister at the DMV for our turns for the driving test. My parents didn't send us on this path, as both of them were in the industry in a way. My mom sang a lot, but my dad was the performer. He sung and acted in musicals, and was in his own barbershop group. He has friends in the industry, and one of his best friends is Dick Van Dyke. I would see Dick annually when I was younger at a show he hosted in the civics arts plaza that my dad also performed in. Because of this influence in the industry, they knew how bad it was for children. Even though we never went on that path, I still want to enter the industry. The Arts were a part of my whole childhood, and I'd love to be an actress. Except my passion actually lies behind the camera, working in props. I very much want to be able to design and build props on both a theater or film setting, and I'm currently on path to try and achieve that.

An example of good child acting parenting, I read somewhere that the naked brothers band was canceled because it used to be filmed in the summer time, but nickelodeon wanted to push episodes out faster, but nat & Alex wolff's parents said that they didn't want it to interfere with school so they said no.
And now it seems like they are both pretty successful, doing their thing in both music and acting, so seemed to work ok for them.

I was in a film when I was little (around 10 yrs old) and I was out of school for nearly three weeks for the filming of it. We had a teacher on set and were taught on double decker buses. They were long days but we got a lot of breaks

I’m sorry but these kids are doing the work, PERIOD‼️‼️ The Law MUST Recognize that simple fact. I believe that after basic costs, taxes, agents, publicist, a Child Actor should have 80% of the remainder put into a Trust that gives the $ X.00 depending how young they start, increasing until 18 when they get a reasonable lump sum, they want to go to college, get their own place, etc. But NO MORE than 20% of what remains in the Trust. They should be given basic Financial Planning classes, Budgeting Classes, Investing Classes, ALL STARTING AT 16 continuing until they get full control of all their Trust at 25.
I also believe parents should NEVER BE the Trustee‼️ And at 18, they have NO RIGHTS where there child’s money is concerned. It wouldn’t be a terrible idea, if they continued acting or sing, what have you, between 18-25, their stipend from their Trust would go up to match the Increased Wages they may command‼️ However, the majority of the money CONTINUE TO GO INTO A MILDLY CONSERVATIVE INVESTMENT TRUST UNTIL THEY TURN 21‼️‼️ The End‼️‼️✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼🎭🎭🎭♥️♥️♥️🎬🎬🎬🎞🎞🎞🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🥤🥤🥤

5:10 ~my favorite part of this whole video
im not a hollywood star actor but i am a sorta popular actor in my state, ive acted in 3 shows and one movie that are only showed in my state, but, yes some of these rules exist but they do kind of over react the acting career. it's not all bad. doing plays and musicals on stage is definitely easier, but acting in tv shows and movies aren't as bad as they make it. of course it gets a bit tiring but they make the producers and director seem like a nightmare. you actually get along VERY well with the production staff, and most of the time, the actors themselves. i worked 16 hours each day for 6 months (of shooting) but i did get little breaks. if we did excellent for 2 weeks, we earned 2 vacation days. they either take u somewhere great or let you do your own thing. i still get my phone, i facetime my friends on my own time, but of course, i still have some rules i have to follow by. i can't talk about the shows or movie, im allowed to dress however i feel (they believe expressing yourself is extremely important), and i am away from my family for some time besides my grandmother who is the person who stays with me on set. (mom isn't the best), and i can't wander away from the studio without an adult. mostly my assistant. who is also very, very nice. i get stopped in the streets and im not allowed to get pictures with anyone most of the time. i can't stay in my trailer for the fun of it and is only used for working purposes, and im only allowed to bring one electronic to set which is mostly my laptop or phone. it does get tiring but i do have a lot of GREAT friends and have met my boyfriend on set too. it's something fun to try. maybe it's because it's not hollywood so it's a bit more chill, but in my opinion acting is a great career, and not something that is a nightmare to kids, unless it's something they didn't want to do. and i do get payed (cant say, another rule) but my family respects that and i use the money to help them out and to treat myself. maybe i never struggled with the problem of hollywood fame but it did get a bit over exaggerative in this video.

My child wants to be an actor. There is a lot on a set that protects her. Granted she has only been on set once, she was well taken care of. It was a lot of play for the kids. As for the account, I like that 15% is set aside. But the rest is still hers. We are setting aside a portion for taxes, a portion for her expenses in her work and making sure she know how to spend and save by allowing her to budget for toys, trips and treats. It is awful how some parents take advantage of their kids.....
