It´s always nice to watch group of guys working around old truck. Somewhere on old scrap yard or middle in the woods. You can hear voices of different tools, a compressor or aggregat keep noise on the back round. Everyone has a waiting moody, they joke with each other. Then it starts to make smoke signals from the pipes and starts, that´s a amazing feeling. After that you even get it move by own power, thats always an awesome feeling. It’s a moment when a man who loves old trucks and machines knows he’s alive.
How's it guys, thank you for bringing back to life that beast. I live in Zambia Africa and used to watch BJ and the bear and we had a few of those Kenworths running around. I must say, they were head turners. I ended up driving trucks in in southern Africa then in Australia. I've had a soft spot for the American truck engine since I could remember. Nothing comes close to the Jake brake. Keep up the good work and keep the old school truck alive. Cheers from Africa.
Great to see it running wonderful video Mike. You do realize that you had about 150 years of combined truck experience hanging around helping you great to see the boys giving you a hand.
First big step is all done. Getting her running and having her move under her own power and holding air like she's doing congratulations on that. As far as a frame when you got to fix it, I would stretch it a little but not overboard. Hope to see more videos of the rebuild coming soon, good luck, congratulations
Nothing makes me so happier than to see a bunch of old buddies and thier camaraderie attempting to give life to an old iron girl..Truck Gods must be smiling in the heavens..
I really enjoyed watching the video so amazed to see the old truck from America. this truck is a legend that revives the economy in America .best truck automotive education i have seen
You can get a hold of Day Cab and they have the inside Stock color or any color interior to completely replace all of your interior They do Pete's and KW Truck's
'''''''''' that's diamond uncut,, sueprized of no air leaks '''''' keep on recording ,,,,, loving it. david dickey from virginiam usa an old school trucker aka '' bonecrusher ''
You seemed really surprised that it started and had good oil pressure and holds air You have to remember that this is a KW Truck what else is there to say that they are Thee Best Truck can't wait untill you start working on it again Good Luck
I like that you have nice long videos and completed stages. Watching a bunch of guys crawling all over it smiling like jackasses chewing briers, reminds me of when my friends and I work on projects like this and I tell them , if our wives saw us doing things like this, they would think we were nuts. It's testosterone fulled action-packed great time.
A lot of love & sentimental soft spot for a KW COE Aerodyne from my heart! Great to see another survivor come back to life for a 2nd chance restoration...💜💚👏👏
I come from Germany and Like old Trucks! This is a great Job! My dream is a Peterbilt 359. Have a good Time Boys. Thank you verry much for a good Video.
I love old trucks. That Cummins still sounded pretty good for how long it's been sitting. Amazed how little smoke came out. Envious of your find. Hope you do vids on your resto.
I love watching these old truck videos the older truck had a soul unlike like these new ones the 855 Cummings what the best diesel engine ever built in my opinion
GONNA HAVE TO CUT THAT FRAME OFF TIE IN NEW MIGHT THINK ABOUT ALSO STRETCHING IT IF IT'S GONNA BE YOUR SHOW RIG OR GROCERY GETTER. SO HAPPY SHE'S ALIVE...
keeping it the same length, flat bedding it, and turning into an RV hauler or something would be cool, with the short wheel base it would make turning quite easy.
That’s a real K-whopper. That’s what dad a grandpa called those when I started in 79’ It’s still a cab over. Your gonna be the first one to an accident. I spent to much time in them to wax nostalgic but I do get it. Back when you could turn in one screw and get’em home.
Yes,yes, this truck want to come home to pappa like a happy child. The Engine sound so sweet,it respond to each touch of the acclerator happily.I love this machine, let it live, its alive and well.
Thats a beautiful truck. I love the old cab overs. Trucks today don't have the class that this ole girl has got. Definetly worth the time and effort to get back to new again.
I live in Illinois and I know it not feasible to drive to Illinois to get the frame fixed but there is a place called LINCO in El peso Illinois that will rebuild doubles frames. They take the frame apart clean out the rust and put the frame back together.
Have to say originally I wasn't in favor of this project... But in retrospect I have to say....beauty is in the eye of the beholder....any old truck is worth saving..... especially if it's a KW or a Pete.
congratulations on your purchase, 1997 get my cdl, first my truck was cabover Freightliner, I have good memories of the old days, when there were many cabovers on the roads.
Very cool mike she started relatively easy for you sounds a bit rattle everything probably needs adjusting Good luck 😉 60 oil pressure 👍 Good advice mate We all can thank our dads for a lot 👍💯
I’m sitting here chuckling, I’ve overhauled many of these engines over the years, and see no one really is familiar with the engine. When rad troubles happen, and not very many people are familiar with the low flow cooling I switch the engine back to regular cooling. Easier to maintain, at 78 years of age still repair and overhaul these engines. Good luck on the fixer upper.
Interesting hearing the guys talking about the chassis having been shortened and here's me in Australia looking at it going "that's about the standard length for a cab over chassis here in Australia". Looking forward to the restoration.
as a kid I remember watching BJ & the Bear... lots of cool memories looking at your awesome rig. Cant wait to see the updates oh her. Oh and I love it when the "old " cars/trucks get a second chance to re - live there cruisin days ..Brad from Vernon B.C.
I saw the name of your channel and instantly subscribed! As an old farmer I have a love pre 2000 old iron. I want to thank you for saving this lovely machine!
Small story I was like 6 or seven when my dad worked for a horse feed company Down in Florida there was a big warehouse and behind it was old trailers and some trucks till I seen a cabover it was unusual I would just stare at it not knowing what it was at the time and now I hear they're rare beast it makes sad now cause they knocked the place down and took everything the company moved I have no clue about that white cabover with stripes and people ended making a church, gas stations they pretty much fucked up the country side it looks like it's overpopulated it's ugly now but all we can live by are the memories bless all of you truckers and truck fans stay hauling ass 💯
My landlord has an old Ford cabover with a flatbed trailer out in the woods behind my place. It has been sitting there at least ten years, probably twenty. I know all he wants is scrap value for it. He hasn't done anything with it because it's surrounded by trees and he's getting on up in age. Once it cools off and the mosquitoes die out for the winter, I might go give it a good look over and if I think I can save it, I might just get permission to try to get it going, and if so, buy it from him.
That is my favorite American truck. If I'd move to USA and get into trucking, I'd buy a relic like that, rebuild it with a Scania engine and transmission and insulate the cab from noise and heat from the engine. The short wheelbase it's perfect, don't need to be any longer. I'd probably change the fuel tanks to hold at least 300 gallons.

The frame rails are severely rusted, so cut and replace as a minimum.
the frame is in bad shape i would cut the old frame and weld in a new frame cut off

I love this tractor, guys, let's give it a second life, we have such a ride in Russia, I often meet them and I want to take one for myself
So awesome to see her pull out of there. Maybe stretch her back out with a replacement frame. Can’t wait to watch this project.
That was satisfying, i really think she deserves a rebuild
Nice truck I wish I could find one some day
Watched a few vids of yours now. Needless to say, you have a new subscriber now!

I love the old kw,s ..BJ and the Bear would be very proud..
Amazing video. You can't put Peterbilt badges on her now that she's proven already that she's a good girl. ^^
I was excited to see this video, wish I could find an old cab over and I wish I could try and succeed in getting it running
Those triple 4's were notorious for smoking like a bugger - that unit is like it rolled off the showroom floor - wicked!
Cabovers are my favorite trucks inward born in 88 amazing that's it's running.
As a first time viewer I really enjoyed the effort you guys put in to get that truck going. Thank you to all from the uk .👍🏼
