Light the World Giving Machines Debut in NYC's Rockefeller Center

- Light the World Giving Machines made their debut Tuesday, November 30, at New York City’s Rockefeller Center near its iconic Christmas tree. Since 2017, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has organized the annual effort to help those in need around the world.
“We are delighted to once again partner with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on their Giving Machines project,” said Monsignor Kevin Sullivan, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York. “This is an opportunity for Catholic Charities to promote many of our programs and giving opportunities as we embark on the Christmas season.”

Would you believe that our heavenly father said to me that there are going to be machine's for the homeless while i was in the car by myself while my second oldest sister was working her Uber Eats Job 😇 🌟 i think I was overwhelmed.

Me and my husband had the opportunity to experience the giving machine it’s a wonderful opportunity to give back and to share

Lovely idea, and a great way to give. My mum and I bought a goat and three chickens. We love that this is a long term solution to an ongoing problem. We were wondering if an online version of the Giving machines would be made available? We would love to pass on the link so those who aren’t near a machine, can still give and contribute light.

Where the City of NY is one of the scariest places to work & live these Machines give you a starting point during the Christmas Season to stop & deliberate in the middle of your Fasttrack, Fastlane, Conspicuous Consumption is what makes me successful, he / she who dies with the Most possessions Wins focus in Life...

Hi Marie, thank you for your question. These are Giving Machines that provide a way for people to instantly think of others and generously give. Each Giving Machine includes items from global and local charities, such as food, clean water, health care services, shelter, bedding, skills training and educational supplies. The Giving Machines are a seasonal experience that runs during Christmas time as part of #LightTheWorld. Matt 6:1-4
1 take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

What could be more like sounding a trumpet than this?!
For all you who will reflexively quote Matt 5 (let your light so shine), can you answer why Jesus would say do good works to glorify God in Chapter five and then proceed immediately to warn about doing good works to be seen of men? Try thinking before reflexively typing a meme-level rebuttal.
I feel like the point of Matt 6 is about not to do good works to boast, or brag like “ look how much I donated to charity” but that others should still see our good works not to brag boast or show how good we are, but help set examples for others and in doing so spreading our light
So they made donation machine so people can show others how generous they are?
or they made the donations machines so that people who don't necessarily know how their charitable donations are used can know exactly what kind of impact they will be able to make 🙂

I hope a bunch of ppl want to show off at the giving machine. 🙏 (I really want ppl to share online when they do it also because then it will spread like wildfire.)
