Very happy for you to reach the 100k and even more so to see that you're still in it. Still remembering our lessons from years ago. Keep on going, Levi.
I am very intrigued and interested in your comment that you get inspiration from musicians who use a lot of triads. Could you recommend those pianists and guitarists (perhaps there are saxophone or trumpet players too?). Are there particular songs that you would suggest that are prime examples of using triads? Thanks in advance.
It's more than that. It's not about learning a song. It's about learning how these amazing musicians process complex harmony. Charlie Parker popularized the idea of upper structure triads in his improvisation. You say to a pianist 13b9 and they might think 1 3 5 b7 b9 13... but they're more likely to think a major triad from the 6th over a dominant shell. C9#11? nah... that's a D triad over a C7. Have you read Frank Gambale's two technique books? They're badly named because they're about theory, not technique, but they cover the concept extensively from from a guitarist perspective. Josh Smith and Ariel Posen talk about it a lot too.
