This saves so much more time! I’ve done 4 of these before I saw this video, but I would put a crap ton of books after it’s completed to flatten the canvas out. I pulled one out of storage and ironed it… COMPLETE GAME CHANGER, thank you so much for making this video because I’d still be working on a canvas that keeps folding up.
Thank you so much ! All but 1 that I have received from China were creased like this. I finished one thinking they would settle and they didn’t. So glad I found your video to save my others. Thanks again.
Wow this really worked ! Thank you so much. I just got a new diamond painting in today and it was horribly wrinkled. Using your method, it is now wrinkle free. Thank you so much !!😊😊💕
Thank you. I just received my very first picture today. Also from China. It had the same type of wrinkles. My picture is real big, but it’s a partial. I cannot wait to try this craft! Ty so much from a beginner.
I have yet to try this since I recently got into diamond painting and brought a few of the poster ones (at least that's what I call them). So I'm hoping it works
I know my sister Elizabeth does lots more than me and she was the same. She said I was mad to iron it but I tested it out on a small one. I had when I didn't check the size and got several A4 sizes which were rubbish as the smaller they are the less detail. Have you ever had a personal one done? If so where did you get it? I would love to do one of Muttley my dog. Also of my 2 children.
I got a diamond painting yesterday and the packaging was about 6inches so I was surprise to see it was a diamond painting inside folder all up.The canvas was very very bad, but thanks to your method it was saved!!! 😀😀
You are so welcome, and say Hi to your daughter for me. Remember have a measuring tape and see the size before you order diamond art. sometimes thay are smaller than you think they are. They always advertise them big
Thank you very much. I just got my first diamond painting from Amazon and couldn’t figure out what to do. I ironed very lightly. It’s still more rumpled than yours but at least not re-folding itself.
Glad I could help! my sister does these all the time. She bought an old heavy picture about A3 size took the wooden plywood back off it and when she is finishes a diamond picture. she puts a black bin bag over it, then a towel and puts the backing board over it like a weight and leaves it a few days to flatten those stubborn creases.
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel I got a different idea the day after I ironed my first diamond canvas. Tried it on a fresh one and it worked great. Take the canvas and roll it in the opposite/perpendicular direction from how it arrived. Then stick it in a mailing tube. Just forget about it for a few hours and the creases vanish. I suppose a gift box for liquor would work too.
I haven’t even finished my first dp and I already have three more waiting for me plus one for my great niece. It’s all Amazon’s fault for having a two pack of autumn moons on clearance for five dollars. Yeah that, not my addictive personality or giving up cigarettes.
Ok, I commented below. I cannot get all the creases out. Most came out. But there are two creases that are hard creases!! No matter how much I ironed those areas, they are not coming out. I sure hope they do indeed come out. I ironed mine, it seems forever, they did not come out so quickly as is in your video. I think you got lucky or something. But like I said, it did get some out. Some part of the creases came out or partial creases. Anyway, didn’t take any out completely!! I used steam and steam settings on the lowest. Nope it didn’t hurt it at all. I used towels to just want to add that.
The ones you can't get out should come out once you have finished the picture. I used my iron to get the biggest ones out. It works well for a lot of people but it wont take every single crease out but it will go a long way to keep it more flat.
This works well as long as your iron is not hot. Iron on the reverse and sandwich it between 2 towels big enough to cover it all. (So funny the icon down the bottom says iron but do not wear it)
Can you use this method once the picture is finished? Newbie here just finished my first kit. It's fairly curled and creased in a couple of places. Wish I'd thought to flatten before I began drilling! Live and learn right? ;) Thank you for sharing your tips on TH-cam!
I only did that once to one that already had the stones on. I sandwiched it between greaseproof paper as the one I had was round diamontes so some of the sticky residues were visible ( I recommend square drill as no glue is left around the stones) don't keep the iron on too long don't burn it. You could try putting some heavy books on top of it first to see if that helps to flatten it if it is just a few creases.
I would lay it between 2 boards and put books on it and leave it a few days see if that works or put it into a frame bu gluing it down onto the back of the picture frame. Its more difficult because you have already made it up usually this helps flatten it for most pictures.
Better to remove them before you add the diamonds. If you have made it already place grease proof paper over the diamond side then cover with a towel then put something heavy over the top of it then leave it for a few days, see if that helps.
try laying it flat and put a towel over it then lay something havey on it for a few days this might flatten it. Most bubbles and wrinkles come out if you peel back the clear film or paper then rub ith a soft dry cloth over the paper as you smooth it back into place. Do not touch the sticky surface with your cloth or you will ruin it
Thank you .Once the picture is finished there's going to be an area not covered by diamontees .How do you deal with the area that's still sticky before you frame it.
this one is sticky all over so none should be left. The peacock one only the bird is sticky. It is best to frame them under glass to stop dust settling in between the diamontes as yes there is still tiny sticky areas around the diamonds. If you use a frame with a picture board frame inside this will keep the glass up off the diamontes. (But saying all that my sister just cut around the picture and pinned them to her wall she had not said anything about bits falling off or dust settling on the tiny uncovered sticky parts)
aww we all find things out a bit too late at one point or another. You can put 2 layers of greaseproof paper and a towel over your project and give it a light iron even with the diamontes on. the greaseproof paper will not stick to any glue that is uncovered. But make sure you use greaseproof paper if you put a towel over it and iron the towel fibres will stick all over your picture.
In many cases you needn't do this... I've found that simplly lifting up each corner of the overlay covering the sticky layer and then laying it back over smoothing it flat as you go will flatten back out the project.
yes, that will work, but on mine, it didn't work on a few of them so I did the iron trick. sometimes when you get a few the seller just crames them into the same parcel to save on postage and some of mine were very badly wrinkled.
Yes, it is so nice to be able to hear you so clearly. Sometimes I have trouble hearing what someone is saying especially if they move at all. Nice video.
YES..... or it will stick to your towel. Keep the plastic on and make sure it all well covered with a big towel and don't keep it on long at all just to warm it to release the bad creases.
This saves so much more time! I’ve done 4 of these before I saw this video, but I would put a crap ton of books after it’s completed to flatten the canvas out. omg I haven't even watched yet but your accent is so adorable!
Oh thank you!
Oh my god, I can listen to you talking for hours,,,I love your accent,,
I love the video too,,,
Many people do, I get asked all the time to remove the irritating gingle so they can close their eyes and just listen to me talk,,,

I iron straight on the backing on synthetic setting, works amazing!
Yes, it does, especially good for very wrinkled canvases. Thank you, Katherine.
Thank you!!! Quick and informative!!!!
Hi Allison! I follow you as well on your crochet channel :) thank you for this help, I'm a beginner and received mine today, all creased and bent. 😊👍
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much! I have the worse smooshed dp today. And this one, Autumn, was my first Diamond painting! 💖
Thank you

Sometimes the weight of the dimontes will sort out the wrinkles but I smooth out the biggest ones.

I have been fighting with these rolling for 3 years...THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Great tip will deffo be doing this when mine arrive x

Even if it doesn't flatten well it will help a lot. Once you have your diamonds on the weight will flatten it out even more.
Thanks so much for this tip. I have one happy daughter :)
You are so welcome, and say Hi to your daughter for me. Remember have a measuring tape and see the size before you order diamond art. sometimes thay are smaller than you think they are. They always advertise them big

No problem 👍

Does IT work If u started IT a bit?
What you put iron cotton or what for this ?
i didnt straighten my pic good eough, now it has waves and its complete what can i do.
Put it between 2 layers of cardboard and weigh it down with books hopefully that will flatten it after a few days left to press flat.
Thank you. I may just want to give this craft a try!

Thank you for watching my channel I appreciate it
Thank you. That definitely helps. There's no danger of melting the glue though, right?
Not if you keep the iron on cool.
First timer here. How do I remove creases after I finished.
Better to remove them before you add the diamonds. If you have made it already place grease proof paper over the diamond side then cover with a towel then put something heavy over the top of it then leave it for a few days, see if that helps.
But I don't have a iron

Think my iron was too hot. The plastic stuck to the sticky
did it stick tight so you couldn't peel it off?
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel Not completely but really had to pull it

What I do is cover that sticky area on the sides of the picture with making tape so the sticky parts on the sides don't get dirty
I just used my iron on a canvas that I had applied some of the beads. This process still worked great, beads stayed and canvas is much smoother. 👌😘
Wonderful!
Brilliant!
thank you
I wish I would have known this before I applied all the diamonds..I know better the next time
