you say its the fosters of the stout world but it'll still be here when all those craft stouts have been and gone. you can throw all the dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla notes you want into it im not drinking ten pints of it.

@Steve Harris I think you'll find it does. Some flagship beers are being phased out. Guinness will never. Craft stout is nice for two or three or at home. Sessionable stout is a massive market and no one as it stands does it better than Guinness. Go have a pint in Ireland and see the difference compared to UK.

I've said this numerous times but living in Ireland I drink Guinness regularly in the pubs and if this machine is used properly it's a better pint than a some of the bars are serving up. It's a great device.

That pint was butchered, Please god read the instruction, you have to tip the can right up so you get no bubbles in the head your can was level and spitting and spluttering the beer out! 2 part pour and the second part turns off the nitrosurge to finish the pint perfectly with no bubbles and a creamier head! Great device if used correctly 👍🏼

Simon, for me you've hit the nail.on the head and I share your opinion. I sat and watched the 6 nations a few weeks a go with the usual Guiness can, and I got the same "syrupy" taste. I bought the nitrosurger today with nitrosurger cans and it tastes a lot creamier and smoother than the standard cans.

If you want to be taken seriously as a Broadcast 'beer' Journalist (you've expressed that you do), you need to use the device as per its design. You've technically invalidated your review because you were to lazy to read the instructions. Otherwise, this will remain a beer-banter channel (which is also fine). To treat the product with such disrespect does you no favours.

The original Surger plates weren't for using directly on the can: you poured the Surger Guinness into a glass, put that on the (wet) Surger plate, then zapped it with ultrasonic for a few seconds. Still got one, works pretty well and, unlike the Nitrosurge, no cleanup.

I have the original guinness surger ( the disk u mentioned ) the issue with that it u had to buy a tray of 24 cans and they often wouldn't be a long date , once they went past the date they didn't activate as well. Whereas this you'll be buying them in 4 cans at a time. I used this my mate fetched it over , very decent guinness . U need to tilt it nearly upside down towards the end and still do a 2 part pour , but on the second part do not press the button much like when it's poured in a pub.

Hi Simon you may not see this as vid is a year old but thanks for a great channel....just subscribed and am binging on all your content.
Just wanted to say I remember getting the original surger as a present from my daughters many years ago...round about 2006/7 ...it was like the one you described in pubs..it plugged into the mains and you put the pint glass of the special surger Guinness on it and pressed a button to energise it.
It was very effective but there seemed to be only one supermarket sold the cans (can't remember which one...think it was also Tesco) and eventually even they stopped selling them.
So I ended up just throwing it away
Anyway keep up the great reviews 😊

One thing about nitro-Stout. Other than Creamy Beamy (can you get it on tap on the U.K.?) or Murphy’s, Guinness in my view has never been bettered. It’s too complex for the craft beer crew. Although I admit I haven’t yet tried the Aspnach (sp) London Black.
Ps. Dublin Guineas for its price isn’t any better than a good U.K. pub. The Brit’s keep the Protestant Porter just as well.
