I love going back to these videos and seeing what problems we had back then vs what we have now. And a lot of them are still the same. I also love looking at the improvements.

Got my IPhone X 2 weeks ago. Loved it, until the screen went unresponsive outta no where. I hard reset it about 50 times. Still no signs of it working. Went to AT&T and they gave me a new one. Hope it doesn’t break.
Same thing happened to my iPhone x. Apple care insisted that I go to a apple store (the closest one to me is 250 miles away) or wait 2-3 days for a mailed replacement. Needless to say I switched out of it after a hard reset.
I’ve had the X since it came out, I have the same issues with Face ID as Marques, it’s good but not as convenient as Touch ID was but otherwise I’m happy with my purchase however, you won’t see me buying a new phone anytime soon, I’ll only upgrade when Apple stops supporting this one. I’d say I’ve got a healthy 5 to 6 years left in this phone and I’m more than happy to carry it for that long.

If there’s one thing you can’t fault Apple for it’s the fact that they continue to support their devices for a respectable amount of time. My iPhone 5 from 2012 only now stopped getting updates on iOS 10, everything still works with this phone and it’s still got a few more years left in it before it starts to become obsolete, when apps stop supporting iOS 10. My iPhone 6 Plus from 2014 is still getting updates and I recon it will continue for at least another 2 - 3 years. I know sometimes it’s not always such a good thing, Apple ruined the iPhone 4 with iOS 8, but that was back when phones were a lot less powerful to begin with. At least for me my iPhone 5 still runs perfectly on iOS 10 and the same with my 6 Plus on iOS 11. This is part of the reason I stick with Apple, I’ve thought about trying other phones but I really don’t care what the name is on the back of the phone as long as it serves its purpose. I don’t buy the latest and greatest every year as soon as it comes out, I use my device until I see a real need to upgrade and I like the fact that I will receive updates for a good chunk of time. The price of the iPhone X is still ridiculous but the fact that it will be supported for many years to come sort of justified my decision to purchase it, I bought it knowing I’m going to be using it for at least 4 years maybe more before I even think about upgrading again. I just wouldn’t buy another phone for that price if I knew it would only be supported for a year or two after purchase, that’s pretty much the case with other phones.
Erick Coffee another most sensible comment. I have the space gray X and I admit it is obviously slower than fingerprint scanner. But oh boy what you mentioned was true - the after shower/sweaty fingers when unlocking using touch id issue. After 2 months using the X, I can honestly tell you I can accept the trade offs between face id and finger print. In some situation i really like the face id, while others I prefer finger print. You can’t have everything can’t you. I would be really absurd to sya its not worth the money kust because it is a split second slower than fingerprint scanner.
Its seriously overpriced. Great phone, not worth 1000$. I miss the days when iPhones were in the 600 - 700$ price range, it seemed alot more reasonable. But then ever since the "plus" models came out they started bumping up the prices ever since
I sold mine and got an S9 Plus instead. It's not the phone, it's the OS. I've been using iOS for 5 years and realized that I need to change to spice up my smartphone experience. I'm happy I did. The switch wasn't hard for me since I used to have an Android phone before
Chelsea Home and Away You can flash anything you want on Android. Even windows lol. It is not hard to get any OS or version on Android. Apple also collects all your info. Also, I'd bet $10 you use Google as your browser, while also having atleast one form of social media.
Chelsea Home and Away Samsung gets updates but later because it doesn't need updates since its ahead of the game. Its the others that need constant updates in order to even try and catch up. For example Samsung had mutlitask screens years before Google even knew it existed!
I only bought the latest iPhone's for the better cameras. But with the $1,100+ price tag of a decent iPhone X, I've instead decided to stick with my 7 Plus and buy an actual camera, a Sony A6300.
I've used a friend's iPhone X next to my 7Plus. The camera on the X is slightly better but only slightly. The main benefit would be the faster processors which make portrait mode shoot and focus faster. It wasn't worth the $1,100+ upgrade though.
Theodore Frazier I still use the X on latest iOS 12 and its still really fast. But I don’t think I will update to iOS 13 because I think it might slow down the X a little. But like I said right now it’s still a great phone.
Honestly. The best iPhone I’ve ever had. The speed is unreal and the camera is just amazing. I got it a month after realise and it’s holding up well. My only issue is FaceID with Apple Pay. The best thing about Touch ID is you could reach out and pay. Now you have to move your face to pay

Upgrading to an xs from an 8 😅 last year after my samsung s7 edge was stolen (was planning to get an iphone anyways) i got an 8 because i didn’t had enough money for the x and now i have enough for the xs :D
Great review! As an owner of the X, everything you said is spot on. My biggest frustration is the split second longer in face id from fingerprint. That, and the notch is pretty big. Also, you’re so right about it being slippery. Mine stays in a case permanently due to this. Had a close call on day 1. If those are all that we find frustrating, I’d say that’s great! I personally bought the X for a few reasons. One, I’m an iOS guy. With my Apple TV, family plan with the wife, and our iPads, I wasn’t going to go any other way. I understand why Android guy stays with those OS. It’s the same reason I stay with mine. I personally like it better. Two, when comparing the X to the 8+, the increased price was worrying. But since I’m on a plan thru my provider, it wasn’t a $1000 hit on the day I bought it. I liked that it was a smaller phone and had a bigger screen. All the other details are nice (camera, display, speed, Animoji’s). But, I won’t be purchasing the next one. When I got this phone, I had a 2-3 year plan in my head. One year is almost gone. I’ll keep it thru 2019. Depending on what happens in September of ‘19, will make my decision for me. Great review as always!!
Same can be said for a lot of Apple products (with a few exceptions). None of them are inherently horrible, in fact a lot of them are actually quite capable and really good! It's just for the price they're asking, I can get devices that offer 80% of what Apple devices have for considerably less. And more often than not I'm able to live without having that 20% Though I have to say no shade to people who buy Apple products, if it has something they need then all power to them. Nothing wrong with buying what works for you
TechPassion yeah agree a lot, some strange design decisions maybe and a more closed ecosystem but Apple products are a-okay and they usually look pretty good, but most of their products are noticeably more expensive than others.

I still feel that the XR is better for less the price. Sure the screen isn’t as good, it’s a Liquid Retina instead of a Super Retina, has but you wouldn’t notice it from a normal viewing distance. The Xr has a bigger screen and can come in more colours too. And again, it’s a lot cheaper
I got the iPhone 8 a few months ago. Upgraded from the iPhone 6, which was down to a crawl with a dying battery. Really happy with the 8 - still loving Touch ID and wireless charging. Not missing the lack of headphone jack after getting the AirPods. Looking forward to seeing what iPhones Apple launches in Sep 2018.
Thought I’d left a comment but can’t find it! I’ve had my iPhone X since Day1. Love, love, love it and didn’t think of upgrading till I couldn’t get IOS 17. What am I missing if I don’t upgrade? My X does everything I need. It doesn’t have a single scratch on it because it’s had a full case - back and front - since I bought it and I don’t drop it ! Why upgrade? I’ll check battery life next! Yep I just got my X. I love it the notch doesn’t bother me. The battery life is excellent. The build quality is a premium luxury feel. Which is what apples known for. I’m good for a couple of years now. It’s a perfect size not to big. Fits in your pocket perfectly yet it’s a full screen. Tired of the big bulky phones. They need to leave it this size. The camera is excellent quality. The price is a 1000.00 it’s worth but not worth upgrading in a year. They come out with phones to often. Lol

Martin Schmidt really. Apple claims that it’s the strongest glass in any smartphone. The camera lens is also made out of Sapphire Crystal. The iPhone X also has Stainless Steel and all iPhones have plastic bumpers between the metal and each glass panel. The home button on older iPhones are also made out of Sapphire Crystal. And there is no better Android smart phone than the iPhone X.

a lot of it was the folding oled. to avoid having a chin like a lot of other manufacturers, they folded the oled into the phone so it can connect to the motherboard without creating a chin. he even made a video about it, “let’s talk about smartphone chins”
The one thing that strikes me, which I never had with my other iPhones for 6 years now, is that every time I hold it in my hand it still feels really premium. When I switched from the 5s to the 6s, I quickly forget about the price and didn't take care of it that well. But now with the X, I ALWAYS keep it in a case. I really don't understand how you use it without one. Maybe it's just for the videos :D
Shubham Pawar I have an iPhone X. It’s lasts me from 7am to midnight. I do play Fortnite on mobile usually 5 full games and th battery goes down around 10%. Overall it’s really good for battery a massive improvement from my old iPhone 7
someone did a test on youtube where the s8+ lasted 3 mins longer , but it has a 30% larger battery. So it would have better battery life than the note 8.
I wish I could get the x but it’s just not worth 1k and then the 8 hasn’t improved much apple pricing is just too expensive gotta stick with the IPhone 7
Still using the iPhone X 256 GB. The notch doesn't seem to bother me, Face ID is very fast, still not as fast as Touch ID, battery gets me through the day, gaming is a delight, get consistent 55-60 FPS in heavy titles, back glass is weak, had to get it replaced from a third party shop. I would give it a 7/10. The things I want in newer iPhones 1. Higher resolution display 2. Higher megapixel count

I hate my iPhone X. I wish I would’ve brought the 8 Plus. I wear glasses with transition lenses, and it is hard to use Face ID 75% of the time. I have to hold my phone at a certain angle so it recognizes my face. If I take my glasses off it works a little faster but I can’t see much without my glasses so I wear them most the time, so it’s a glasses on and off thing to open my phone.
Spe T Yes, it's cheaper and the only difference is it's not all glass and that's a good thing because if you break a iPhone x you have to replace the whole phone. The iPhone X is so overpriced, honestly I can't even really notice anything different about my X from my iPhone 7s.
Actually the iPhone 8 is all glass too. The only differences besides the screen, is the FaceID and the front facing camera. And iPhone 7s does not exist. There's 7 or 7 Plus.

No Way That’s never happened for me. My iPhone 6 (2014) and iPhone SE (2016) are still snappy with no lag on iOS 12. My mom’s iPhone 5s (2013) is still going along and has only slowed down a bit. iOS 12 has definitely improved the lag from iOS 11.

When your battery degrades In IOS 12, the OS informs you about what it will do to your phone to prevent the unexpected shutdowns. But if you don't like it, the OS will tell you how to disable the feature. Apple was slowing down phones before without informing their customers but it really wasn't because of the reasons most fandroids have come to believe. If an iPhone slows down right now, it is probably because of hardware, and really not because of a software update from apple to force you to buy a new phone. This is the honest truth.

3:36 almost 6 years later, iPhone X is still receiving updates nowadays, still usable (with moderation of course, but still works) and still looks great design wise. It held up perfectly fine, better than the other flagships from 2017 or even 2018.

Lot of good content but I have a problem with one of his complaints, and that’s his Face ID example. He says it’s annoying to have to get you face in view to unlock the phone if it’s just laying in the table, but don’t all the android phones with fingerprint scanners have them in the back of the phone requiring you to pick up the phone to open it if laying on a table? I would think that’s more work and more annoying?
Partially true yes, my OP2 has the FP sensor on the front which I very much prefer because of the 'table unlock'. Which is why both the FP sensor and face unlock is ideal and needed imo, like the OP5t.
Naveen MN yes ultimately you will pick up the phone to use it, and then Face ID is a non-issue. His example was purely about looking at something on your phone quickly while laying on the table without picking it up. My point was you can’t even do what his example complains about on an android with fingerprint scanner at all because you MUST pick it up, hence getting rid of the convenience he is docking the iPhone for not having.
I do not play games as many other customers who bought this phone. This gaming pc argument is stupid because every gamer that i know owns an android anyway. Most of us like me arent interested in that shit.

If there’s one thing you can’t fault Apple for it’s the fact that they continue to support their devices for a respectable amount of time.
My iPhone 5 from 2012 only now stopped getting updates on iOS 10, everything still works with this phone and it’s still got a few more years left in it before it starts to become obsolete, when apps stop supporting iOS 10.
My iPhone 6 Plus from 2014 is still getting updates and I recon it will continue for at least another 2 - 3 years.
I know sometimes it’s not always such a good thing, Apple ruined the iPhone 4 with iOS 8, but that was back when phones were a lot less powerful to begin with. At least for me my iPhone 5 still runs perfectly on iOS 10 and the same with my 6 Plus on iOS 11.
This is part of the reason I stick with Apple, I’ve thought about trying other phones but I really don’t care what the name is on the back of the phone as long as it serves its purpose. I don’t buy the latest and greatest every year as soon as it comes out, I use my device until I see a real need to upgrade and I like the fact that I will receive updates for a good chunk of time.
The price of the iPhone X is still ridiculous but the fact that it will be supported for many years to come sort of justified my decision to purchase it, I bought it knowing I’m going to be using it for at least 4 years maybe more before I even think about upgrading again. I just wouldn’t buy another phone for that price if I knew it would only be supported for a year or two after purchase, that’s pretty much the case with other phones.
Erick Coffee another most sensible comment. I have the space gray X and I admit it is obviously slower than fingerprint scanner. But oh boy what you mentioned was true - the after shower/sweaty fingers when unlocking using touch id issue. After 2 months using the X, I can honestly tell you I can accept the trade offs between face id and finger print. In some situation i really like the face id, while others I prefer finger print. You can’t have everything can’t you.
I would be really absurd to sya its not worth the money kust because it is a split second slower than fingerprint scanner.
Its seriously overpriced. Great phone, not worth 1000$. I miss the days when iPhones were in the 600 - 700$ price range, it seemed alot more reasonable. But then ever since the "plus" models came out they started bumping up the prices ever since

I sold mine and got an S9 Plus instead. It's not the phone, it's the OS. I've been using iOS for 5 years and realized that I need to change to spice up my smartphone experience. I'm happy I did. The switch wasn't hard for me since I used to have an Android phone before

Chelsea Home and Away Samsung gets updates but later because it doesn't need updates since its ahead of the game. Its the others that need constant updates in order to even try and catch up. For example Samsung had mutlitask screens years before Google even knew it existed!
I only bought the latest iPhone's for the better cameras. But with the $1,100+ price tag of a decent iPhone X, I've instead decided to stick with my 7 Plus and buy an actual camera, a Sony A6300.

I've used a friend's iPhone X next to my 7Plus. The camera on the X is slightly better but only slightly. The main benefit would be the faster processors which make portrait mode shoot and focus faster. It wasn't worth the $1,100+ upgrade though.

Honestly. The best iPhone I’ve ever had. The speed is unreal and the camera is just amazing. I got it a month after realise and it’s holding up well. My only issue is FaceID with Apple Pay. The best thing about Touch ID is you could reach out and pay. Now you have to move your face to pay

Great review! As an owner of the X, everything you said is spot on. My biggest frustration is the split second longer in face id from fingerprint. That, and the notch is pretty big. Also, you’re so right about it being slippery. Mine stays in a case permanently due to this. Had a close call on day 1.
If those are all that we find frustrating, I’d say that’s great!
I personally bought the X for a few reasons. One, I’m an iOS guy. With my Apple TV, family plan with the wife, and our iPads, I wasn’t going to go any other way. I understand why Android guy stays with those OS. It’s the same reason I stay with mine. I personally like it better.
Two, when comparing the X to the 8+, the increased price was worrying. But since I’m on a plan thru my provider, it wasn’t a $1000 hit on the day I bought it. I liked that it was a smaller phone and had a bigger screen.
All the other details are nice (camera, display, speed, Animoji’s). But, I won’t be purchasing the next one. When I got this phone, I had a 2-3 year plan in my head. One year is almost gone. I’ll keep it thru 2019. Depending on what happens in September of ‘19, will make my decision for me.

Same can be said for a lot of Apple products (with a few exceptions). None of them are inherently horrible, in fact a lot of them are actually quite capable and really good!
It's just for the price they're asking, I can get devices that offer 80% of what Apple devices have for considerably less. And more often than not I'm able to live without having that 20%

I still feel that the XR is better for less the price. Sure the screen isn’t as good, it’s a Liquid Retina instead of a Super Retina, has but you wouldn’t notice it from a normal viewing distance. The Xr has a bigger screen and can come in more colours too. And again, it’s a lot cheaper

I got the iPhone 8 a few months ago. Upgraded from the iPhone 6, which was down to a crawl with a dying battery. Really happy with the 8 - still loving Touch ID and wireless charging. Not missing the lack of headphone jack after getting the AirPods. Looking forward to seeing what iPhones Apple launches in Sep 2018.

Yep I just got my X. I love it the notch doesn’t bother me. The battery life is excellent. The build quality is a premium luxury feel. Which is what apples known for. I’m good for a couple of years now. It’s a perfect size not to big. Fits in your pocket perfectly yet it’s a full screen. Tired of the big bulky phones. They need to leave it this size. The camera is excellent quality. The price is a 1000.00 it’s worth but not worth upgrading in a year. They come out with phones to often. Lol

Martin Schmidt really. Apple claims that it’s the strongest glass in any smartphone. The camera lens is also made out of Sapphire Crystal. The iPhone X also has Stainless Steel and all iPhones have plastic bumpers between the metal and each glass panel. The home button on older iPhones are also made out of Sapphire Crystal.
And there is no better Android smart phone than the iPhone X.

a lot of it was the folding oled. to avoid having a chin like a lot of other manufacturers, they folded the oled into the phone so it can connect to the motherboard without creating a chin. he even made a video about it, “let’s talk about smartphone chins”

The one thing that strikes me, which I never had with my other iPhones for 6 years now, is that every time I hold it in my hand it still feels really premium. When I switched from the 5s to the 6s, I quickly forget about the price and didn't take care of it that well. But now with the X, I ALWAYS keep it in a case. I really don't understand how you use it without one. Maybe it's just for the videos :D

someone did a test on youtube where the s8+ lasted 3 mins longer , but it has a 30% larger battery. So it would have better battery life than the note 8.

Still using the iPhone X 256 GB. The notch doesn't seem to bother me, Face ID is very fast, still not as fast as Touch ID, battery gets me through the day, gaming is a delight, get consistent 55-60 FPS in heavy titles, back glass is weak, had to get it replaced from a third party shop. I would give it a 7/10.
The things I want in newer iPhones
1. Higher resolution display
2. Higher megapixel count
Had the X since launch and I haven’t regretted buying it once

I hate my iPhone X. I wish I would’ve brought the 8 Plus. I wear glasses with transition lenses, and it is hard to use Face ID 75% of the time. I have to hold my phone at a certain angle so it recognizes my face. If I take my glasses off it works a little faster but I can’t see much without my glasses so I wear them most the time, so it’s a glasses on and off thing to open my phone.

Yes, it's cheaper and the only difference is it's not all glass and that's a good thing because if you break a iPhone x you have to replace the whole phone. The iPhone X is so overpriced, honestly I can't even really notice anything different about my X from my iPhone 7s.

No Way That’s never happened for me. My iPhone 6 (2014) and iPhone SE (2016) are still snappy with no lag on iOS 12. My mom’s iPhone 5s (2013) is still going along and has only slowed down a bit. iOS 12 has definitely improved the lag from iOS 11.

When your battery degrades In IOS 12, the OS informs you about what it will do to your phone to prevent the unexpected shutdowns. But if you don't like it, the OS will tell you how to disable the feature. Apple was slowing down phones before without informing their customers but it really wasn't because of the reasons most fandroids have come to believe. If an iPhone slows down right now, it is probably because of hardware, and really not because of a software update from apple to force you to buy a new phone. This is the honest truth.

3:36 almost 6 years later, iPhone X is still receiving updates nowadays, still usable (with moderation of course, but still works) and still looks great design wise. It held up perfectly fine, better than the other flagships from 2017 or even 2018.

Lot of good content but I have a problem with one of his complaints, and that’s his Face ID example. He says it’s annoying to have to get you face in view to unlock the phone if it’s just laying in the table, but don’t all the android phones with fingerprint scanners have them in the back of the phone requiring you to pick up the phone to open it if laying on a table? I would think that’s more work and more annoying?

Partially true yes, my OP2 has the FP sensor on the front which I very much prefer because of the 'table unlock'. Which is why both the FP sensor and face unlock is ideal and needed imo, like the OP5t.
Naveen MN yes ultimately you will pick up the phone to use it, and then Face ID is a non-issue. His example was purely about looking at something on your phone quickly while laying on the table without picking it up. My point was you can’t even do what his example complains about on an android with fingerprint scanner at all because you MUST pick it up, hence getting rid of the convenience he is docking the iPhone for not having.
You do realize that there are multiple ways of unlocking a phone in android, it isn't limited to fingerprint scanner.
