For me it's also the Super400 and the L4. I'm always a sucker for Super400s, but the L4 was exceptional to me. I don't know if it's 90 years of aging or the Virzi tone, but It was so lush and warm. Not what expected.
@@ThatRhythmMan Thanks for pointing that out. I was unaware. The L4 is so sweet it's nudging out the Super 400 as my favorite. Thanks for posting these great comparisons.
I know the price ranges for these vary widely, but that aside I gotta vote for Sky and L4 a close second. The B sounds a little nasally. Like the 1k band on the equalizer is pumped up a bit.
Can't beat that '23 Snake Head Gibson L4... sweet as honey
Tonally, for me its ol' L-4 snakehead baby! Ain't nothing like the real thing, baby!

The L4 is also a 12 fret guitar, as an additional different characteristic from most acoustic archtops.

The L4 smoked the benedetto at about 1/10 the cost. I've heard some of the names of the Gibson luthiers, but most will remain forever unknown.
Benedetto for sure! Gorgeous. The L4 was close and beautiful in its own way.
Looks like the mic distance/position is substantially different (closer) for the L4…which probably affected the tone quite a bit.
The mic placement is the same, but the camera is closer. That skews the appearance of the mic placement.
Grimes Kula Rose, followed by the Benedetto; which surprised me as I thought I'd prefer the Gibsons
The L4, followed by the Super 400, then the Grimes and the Benedetto. All sound great, but that L4 is special.
L-4 all the way. The Benedetto is a beautiful guitar but sonically disappointing.

That may not be a bad thing if you need to cut in an ensemble.
How wide is the Benedetto? It has just enough raspy edge to remind me of my 1925 L Jr., which is a bit more than 13” at the lower bout.
Wow
