  • The fiddle leaf fig tree was kept in a darker environment for a few weeks. It started showing brown patches on the tips of the lower leaves. After some research, I came to the conclusion that it was suffering from root rot. This was likely due to the environment change (lower water consumption in darker environment). Before I started taking actions, it dropped most of its lower leaves. It's not looking good.
I cut the top of the tree off to encourage growth from lower nodes. I also moved it to a sunnier spot in the house. In a few weeks, new growth buds started forming from the top few nodes. It has now recovered from the root rot and it is looking fuller and happier again.

I would've air layered the cutting, then when it had roots cut it off the mother plant and repot. It would've been the same result you got from your mother fiddle leaf except you could have saved the cutting you tried to propagate. Did you give it any rooting hormone when you propagated it?

I have some rooting hormone just didn’t try it on the cutting. I will try it next time.

What kind of lighting are you using for your indoor plants? Thanks 😊

I have a few. The biggest one is a 50W LED Plant Grow Lights
