  • **Edit: I’m so glad this video is making rounds so that everyone can see just how amazing both Soken and the Dev team are! If you’d like something a bit more lighthearted and to see Soken in all his glory, I managed to post some other videos from the weekend as well:
    Soken’s La HEE: • Soken's LA HEE (FFXIV ...
    Soken dancing: • Soken's Dance (FFXIV F...
Dancing Devs! (A long fall): • A Long Fall - The Prim...
Also, I apologize for the odd glitch at the start of the video. Not sure what happened with the stream there.
    -----
I honestly wasn't sure if I should record and post this, but I figured it'd be good to do so for now for anyone who missed the Livestream.
Warning: This video is very emotional and has mentions of cancer as well.

Their willingness to show themselves as themselves and not just a faceless corporation is why I'm so passionate about the game, beyond it being so good. Their passion is infused into the game, even in the smallest ways and its prevalent throughout, from ARR to the end of Shadowbringers. Endwalker will certainly be a continuation of their passion and I cannot wait to experience it all, from the near areas down to the new music tracks. I'm with you. they pour so much money into it and probably a lot better if tabata in charge from the very start
as for 1.0, the fundamental of core game mechanic is already old and dusty and its all tanaka vision

@Daniolaut Studio I love Uematsu and Sakaguchi and I still think they did great things (and still do) with Square and Mistwalker, I don't know Tanaka this much as I wasn't into FFXIV until 3.0, but 1.0's story look dope, I would've loved to try it out even if it wasn't that great gameplay-wise.
Despite all this, no one can deny the fact that today's FFXIV is a success, with great music and story, and that it brings a lot of money to Square.
I have no doubt that if they were still at Square, we would see Uematsu, Sakaguchi and Tanaka being as caring to the community as Yoshida and Soken, but that's not the case, so people judge what they see. Moreover, the fact that Yoshida and Soken are so passionate about their game and its community does not prevent Sakaguchi and Uematsu to be the same about what they do.

Right? For Yoshi-P to break down on stage like that and sob in front of thousands of people, when he is both a man and someone who comes from a culture where that sort of thing just doesn't happen in front of others, was incredibly touching and so very human of him.
To him, I say: Don't be ashamed of your emotions, they are a part of who you are, and it truly is OK for you to show them to others. It doesn't make you weak; it makes you human, and a kind and caring individual.
Also, don't feel bad about not being able to tell your staff. Here in the US a law referred to as HIPPA prevents managers from disclosing the health information of any employee. Even if they are just out with a cold. US employees are familiar with this situation as well. Your team will understand Yoshi-P.

I’m kind of surprised Square Enix had an event like this that was 100% consecutive translated, but after how everything went down I’m so glad. It’s really wonderful to hear everything, especially information like this, directly from the people who are enriching our lives so significantly.
I understand Japanese so it’s nice in that respect of course, but I guarantee all native English speakers benefit from hearing Soken directly share all his thoughts and sentiments. My brother is currently dealing with this same fight, it’s such a struggle, but stories like this and his amazing strength to push through with all our love for his work… it’s the answer. Caring for each other and supporting everyone and ultimately living your life to the fullest. To The Edge was already a favorite FFXIV song, but god now it’s just a favorite song all around.

Soken battling such a devastating disease while a pandemic sweeps across the world, meaning he's not allowed to have visitors during his most trying time... I can only imagine how tough this time must've been, or how much he wholeheartedly enjoyed this fanfest in spite of it all. #WelcomeBackSoken

    "世界中光の戦士のおかげで私の盟友帰ってこれたのでほんとにお礼を言いたいです。ありがとございます。
Thanks to the Warriors of Light around the world, my sworn friend has been brought back and I truly wish to thank you. Thank you very much."
You can tell from his voice. Yoshi-P really believes that everyone brought Soken back from the brink by loving the game and sending him their energy.
    This team is a blessing.

Considering SHB is all about dealing with finalities, doing the score for that while having an existential crisis must have been rough

Dealing with my mother cancer right now this hit really close to home. I'm going to listen to the Edge in a much different light knowing its circumstances and hopefully as a way to keep myself going and being there for her from now on.

I know that doesn't do much, but I'm rooting for y'all!!!

Damn, I usually don't get emotional for how headstrong I am, for how cold blooded I am but this... I ain't gonna lie I did cry for this Hero, even in battle with death, this man still did his best to bring the best and My God... Did he bring the best!

This is a once in a life time kind of team. The passion they have for each other, the care. You don't see this anymore nowadays, even in regular people for the better part. But these people, they're like family. This is the kind of company that I would gladly support, it has legendary and most of all skilled talents, but the most important thing of them all is, that they're all people.
You can see the passion flowing through them. They're not there for the money, they're there because they want to be there. They want to deliver us the best, no matter if the world burns around them and such dedication is worth all the respect in the world.
I'm truly glad that Soken's on the path to be well and I wish him great speed in his recovery, he is a living legend amongst people.
