It's true- you can't think too far ahead or it leaves you feeling incapable of doing anything at all!! One job at a time- and I'm glad the sun finally found you!!👍 🌞

I will do my best to heed my own advice and not get overwhelmed 😉

Oh the weeds, that’s what I worked on yesterday. I weeded my path to the garden and lower yard and my chickens and rabbits enjoyed the “fruits” of my labor.
I also found a new forage, bugle-herb. It was abundant in my son’s overgrown yard. I got a whole bag to try and share. I’ll most likely use it in a tincture or salve instead of eating it.
I had to giggle at the Pepper clip. Good luck on getting it all weeded.

Wouldn't it be so much easier if you could just make them weed it for you. But on a path, that's not as simple, I know. It's like when I take my freshly weeded couch grass over to the fence to feed the sheep. They love it, and I really don't want it in my beds. They'll get to eat a lot of it directly out of my beds over the next weeks. Their owner and I both got mobile fences, so we can have his animals weed some of my garden.
I have a vague memory of having heard bugle herb before but it isn't on the list of ones I know. I do have a lot of dead nettles and henbit which are both purple-flowered but don't think I've encountered this one.

Glad to seeing you making good progress weeding your potato bed. The soil looks fertile and capable of producing an abundant crop of potatoes. My fingers are crossed for you! I've never heard of woodland strawberries, but I assume they belong to the same family as Alpine strawberries. They self-seed here and my vegetable plot is scattered with these tiny strawberry plants. Some scientists say the berries are good for digestive disorders. I don't know, but love picking these sweet little fruits. Take care & happy gardening!

Doing my best. The weather outside is horrible at the moment. A few degrees above freezing with night frosts again. And the sun doesn't show its face. But I'll get the potatoes into the ground very soon.
Yes, Alpine strawberries and woodland strawberries are the same thing. I remember them fondly from the garden behind my childhood home where they grew wild. Last year, we collected some on the paths here in our local forest. Their sweet taste is enough for me but I'll take some digestive benefits ;)

At least pansies are edible. Apparently they are good in salads.

I will have to look into that. The whole plant or just the flowers?

@@RootsandCalluses I know the flowers are edible but I don’t know about the rest of the plant. If you decide to keep them at least they serve as both pretty and functional. 😊

Do they have strong, thick roots like that? I would have thought they'd be in bloom now. But my plant knowledge is still pretty limited.

@@RootsandCalluses yes. And a similar rosette of leaves at ground level. Buggers are soo hard to get out once established.

Hello there, just found you and would like to know where you are in which country and you like a new sarter at gardening as you have a lot to learn from what I have seen so far. Don't panic, if you need helpful advice just ask as I have decades of experience as have been at it nearly all my life, so I like to think I know a little about it.

@@RootsandCalluses Just remember, advice and help is there if you need it. I know what it's like in the beginning as we all go through that stage. So if my knowledge of geography is right then you have fairly cold winters there and should now be starting to warm through, yes. I am in Portugal so we are well on the way and I am expecting to start harvesting by the end of next week and I am 2,164 ft 600 mts up in the mountains.

@robertlee6479 our winters are mild because I am also near the coast but dark because I am far North. I hope your harvest goes well 🙂
