  • My Ryobi 8" pruning chainsaw works great but I wanted a little more reach. I found the Oregon 14" bar and chain on sale at Princess Auto and put it on my Ryobi saw. Very simple swap and works great to get a little more reach. I didn't expect to be chopping down giant cedars or anything and I wasn't disappointed. It's now a great saw for removing fallen trees from a trail or trimming trees around the yard.

    Nice 14 inch bar upgrade would be interesting to see if it takes power away from the saw with a bigger bar

      It would bc of using nearly double the length. the Hp 10in saw has enough to use it in wet wood, not sure of the type tho.

    Just bought the 8in saw little over a week ago, and I was wondering if a larger bar could be fitted to it. Glad you made the video. Going to have to try this in the future...

    Awesome B🎸《☆》Nice upgrade Brother👍🏾An Electric saw would be nice to have. Even if you already have a gas powered saw. Who wants to go thru the hassle of premix & getting the saw fired up to hack off a limb or 2😁U can be proud in company of Lumberjacks with a 14" Bar✌😎🤳

      Exactly! I’ll never be running this saw for more than five minutes

    Chain needs to be tighter its jumping because chain is loose but nice mod 9:53

    How's she goin'? The longer bar is certainly a lot more useable than an 8 inch bar eh!! A nice mod. Take care!!!

      Hey Mike. The 8” was nearly useless, so this is a definite improvement. I chopped up our Christmas tree to test it 😂

    Hi Bruce,... I thought this was going to be "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", the miniseries, but, it looks more like "Texas Chainsaw", the Epic Movie, on a large scale, hehe...😁

    I didn’t know this but u can do this with the Hp 10in saw and it’s able to use the whole bar with ease, try it on a downed tree the was soaked at our job site for storm cleanup and it did quite well. Not sure if the pruning saw would have enough power to do it but I was impressed. Other ppl probably did it before me tho, lol.

      @@BruceLyeg hopefully! It’s going to be a mental few months but looking forward to it 😉 I’m not looking forward to packing the tools though 🫣 A friend is going to mind the drum kit for a few days too so they will be safely out of the way. Another drum exam coming up for him so I hope there’s not too much disruption! 🤞

    i have an older model ryobi 18v chainsaw, looks like they changed the design but still an 18v... i like to take it camping as a backup for firewood gathering... Now you should try a 5 foot bar!

    • @BruceLyeg
      @BruceLyeg  ปีที่แล้ว

      I dunno man, the 5’ bar might be a little much lol

  • @TheGreasyShopRag
    @TheGreasyShopRag ปีที่แล้ว

    That bar has a small hole on the side up near the nose sprocket. You might want to consider getting a needle grease gun and lubing that nose bearing. I'm not familiar with the design of the ryobi but I know the oregon bar was not designed to run dry.

      I did not cut the vise. Not to say that I haven’t cut it before or won’t cut it again in the e future. But at the time of filming there was no cutting of the vise

    I am not a fan of non-automatic oiling saws. Bar oil is really sticky compared to 3 in 1 oil. By the time you realize the chain needs oil it is usually too late!

    • @BruceLyeg
      @BruceLyeg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with you 100%, but this saw will never be run for more than five minutes at a time. I was still thinking of adding an oiler though. A gravity dripper, maybe rig something up from a drill press or saw oiler
