    Thanks so much for joining me on the journey! I've finally been going through past BB videos lately to see your thoughts since I've finished the series and it's been cool to see all your great comments and facts about the episodes/series, it's definitely been fun sharing this all with you! Don't forget we've still got El Camino coming up, and Better Call Saul after that if you'd like to join along for that journey as well!

    fun facts:
    - in Ozymandias while rolling the remaining barrel of cash, Walt passes the same pair of pants that he lost in the pilot;
    - Felina is an anagram for finale and "Felina" is the name of the woman in Marty Robbins' song "El Paso," which is played in the car Walt steals from New Hampshire;
    - The apparel Walt wears when he arrives at the compound is identical to what he wore in the pilot episode. He begins and ends the series in the same clothes;
    - Jack died the exact same way Hank died, a mid sentence bullet to the head;
    - Walter died the day of his 52nd birthday, exactly 2 years after the beginning of the plot, when the doctor said he had 2 years left;
    - After Walter falls to the ground at the very end, you can see on the tank where his hand was a "W" left in blood;
    - Walter never saw the inside of a prison cell;
    - After binge-watching the entire show in a span of two weeks, Anthony Hopkins wrote a letter to Cranston and said he considered Cranston’s performance as Walter White to be the greatest acting he had ever seen.

Both are in the same position after the murder. (Laying on the ground, on their side). Both Walt and Gus come up with a plan to take out their enemy. Gus negotiates with the Cartel, offering them his distribution system. Walt negotiates with the Neo-Nazis, offering them a way to cook without any Methylamine. When Gus arrives to Mexico he betrays the Cartel and kills them. When Walt arrives to Jack’s compound he betrays the Neo-Nazis and kills them. Both Walt and Gus were pretending to negotiate a deal to find a way inside.

      Now that makes me want a Malcolm/Breaking Bad crossover where Walt is married to Lois who is horrified at first by her husband’s meth cooking but then gleefully joins in on it and even takes over the meth business once she learns how much money there is to be made. Essentially, Lois herself would become the Heisenberg drug queenpin, and there would be no way that any rival dealer would be willing to cross Lois. Tuco, the twins, Gus, uncle Jack, etc. would all be too intimidated by Lois. Jesse would just call her “bitch” behind her back all the time because Lois would just treat him like a super strict mom. I think such a crossover would be a really interesting (and hilarious) portrayal of a strong female character in a traditionally male-dominated subculture. (Come to think of it, how come there weren’t any female drug dealers in Breaking Bad?)

      Constantly coerced and manipulated, he finally broke free from Walter. But it wasn't exactly that black and white, because Jesse deep down admired his teacher and surrogate father despite everything. The Gretchen and Elliot scene was added by Vince Gilligan as a way to pay homage to a fan of the show who unfortunately passed away from cancer. Vince asked the kid what he wanted to see in the series to which he responded that he wanted to know what had happened to the Gretchen and Elliot characters. Hence this amazing scene was added to the finale.

    People normally talk about how amazing the writing/acting is, and while that is true, I think one of the things that makes Breaking Bad so amazing is how all the technical aspects of what went in to these decisions like camera work, use of color, editing, etc., is that they do them creatively without trying to look like they're showing off or distracting the viewer, you know? Like they do these clever shots, cuts, lighting tricks, whatever to help convey context but they do it subtly that most viewers usually don't catch these little details. It's like the show rides that perfect line between not being too artsy-fartsy and when to just have fun and be creative with it. Seeing your reactions to these little details and giving great commentary about them gave me something to really look forward to twice a week throughout all of 2020 so thank you for that!

    Walter leaves Jesse's watch on the payphone for some reason. This can really be interpreted in many ways.
    The behind the scenes reason was that they shot the "future scenes" from the pilot before they filmed the episode where he gets the watch.
    When they were filming the final episode, they realized that Walter doesn't have a watch in the pilot because of the order they shot the episodes in.
    So they included the little scene in here where he leaves the watch.
    It still works as it can be read as Walter still blaming Jesse for Hank's demise and everything going to shit. He thought Jesse to be dead. When he found out he's alive, walt considers killing him but has a change of heart and saved Jesse at the end.

    Felina is strong and I rise where I've fallen,
    Though I am weary I can't stop to rest."
    Walt's injury and his love for his true love is what is pushing him on, then the final lines of the song:
    From out of nowhere Felina has found me,
    Kissing my cheek as she kneels by my side.
    Cradled by two loving arms that I'll die for,
    One little kiss and Felina, good-bye.
    His true love is the lab of his criminal empire and he dies in its arms.
    There is a whole lot more, seriously listen to that whole song and think about this episode. It is dope as shit how they used a song to communicate the subtext of the episode and somehow found this song more relevant to Breaking Bad that Crystal Blue Persuasion which I never thought they could top in terms of fitting the show.

      Marty Robbins...That song is epic...It's not my favorite style of music at all, but it's still a really good tune, worth at least a couple full length listens, especially in the context of the show..

    Man, It was a gift to follow Brandon's journey through this show. His comments and reactions made me appreciate Breaking Bad even more and also gave me the best nostalgia trip I ever had, what a honor.

    Wanna hear an interesting fan theory that was thought up by Norm MacDonald? He thought that from Walt died in the car, since everything went PERFECTLY after that moment. And everything that happened was just his dying fantasy. With El camino, that's obviously not true, but it made me think when he said it

    Man, fucking "Baby Blue" and the shot of Walt dying gets me every time. I always end up crying my eyes out. Can't help but love Walt, even after everything. Fuck...

    You did it man. And yeah that is ABSOLUTELY the ONLY way to end such a great series. Bittersweet, dark and light, but oh so satisfying. Glad to have vicariously relived it all with you 😊 great job.

    22:03 I love how Todds reaction to Walts truck gun was of appreciation.
    He doesn't freak out about his family dying he just looks out the window amazed and says
    "Mr White someone put a gun in your trunk!"

      Yea I noticed that too. I never considered Todd to be a cruel person or evil at all. He was just legit some guy who so happened to not feel remorse when killing people. He doesn't feel joy or happiness, but he doesn't feel remorse either. And from what it looks like that applies to his family too, instead he appreciates how smart Walt is. Even refers to him by Mr White.

    I just started chemotherapy. I'm sitting in the hospital hooked up to an IV right now. I watched Breaking Bad hoping to learn to make meth and get rich, but they never actually showed the recipe.
