How To Install A JcrOffroad Rear Bumper for the XJ

  • In this video I'll be installing the JcrOffroad rear bumper on the zombie jeep. This bumper is heavy duty, has a 2" receiver built in, and looks right at home on the Jeep Cherokee. These instructions are step by step and should be everything you need to install your own JcrOffroad bumper on your own Jeep Cherokee. What I like about this bumper is that the XJ retains its towing capacity and since the zombie Jeep didn't come with a receiver, I just made out with 2 in 1!

    Nice! Put that one on my '98 with the side tie-in armor panels not too long ago as well:). Just picked up their front deluxe bumper for Christmas to complete the package. Definitely dig JCR. Good quality and decent prices.

    H, I know this is an old video, however no one has a solid example of how those rear tie in brackets go. Even the JCR Offroad site is lame. Any how another win for you in my book!! Thank you for sharing this video with us. P.S. once my XJ is finished I will send you a video link and point out what I learned from your videos that I put in place in my jeep. It may be fun for you to share a real life example of what a regular guy with little skills can do over time.

    i completed my DYI JCR rear bumper. for the most part it looks great. 1 problem. the end caps do not reach all the way to left and right. They are short about 1/8 - 1/4 inch!! Not terrible but not that happy. Also it took a lot of work and re-work to adjust the length of the mount shafts so the bumper fit in tight. initially it was over 1 inch away from the back sides of the jeep. I can live with what i have for now and i will make minor adjustments later. :)

    I'm assuming this will still be the same since JCR modernized their bumpers.

    looks good. i want something like this but i think i want it to be less rounded and more square.

    • @johnpadilla480
      @johnpadilla480 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If u get the DYI bumper, you can make the edges square. you don't have to round off the welds if you don't want to.

    Great video as usual. Quick question though, I notice on their website they say in the description the following-
    "OEM and Aftermarket receivers will not fit with our Crusader rear bumper without trimming the bumper for clearance"
    I thought the receiver was built in to the bumper? If I'm wrong what exactly would I need to trim in order to tow the full rating?
    Thanks for the info

      In the pass they offered this bumper without the hitch included. Now it seems like they offer less customization as in the past.

    Just ordered this bumper. I have a hitch on my Xj. I'm not able to use the nutstrips from that?

    • @johnpadilla480
      @johnpadilla480 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should be able to use the factory nut strips or the ones from JCR to mount the unibody tie in brackets. You will not need the nut strips to mount the bumper.

  • @MrGalaxieman
    @MrGalaxieman 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    the factory tow package comes with a nut strip already? Can I use that instead of buying the 60 dollar strip from jcr?

    How do ypu anchor a hitch to the bumper, is there a hole for a pin?

    • @MothBird
      @MothBird 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      thats kinda wierd, would suck if it was a cold day and your hitch was frozen in there

    • @johnpadilla480
      @johnpadilla480 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The hitch has a hole and you cannot see it as it is on the back side of the bumper back wall that it sticks out of.

    What exactly are the purposes of the nut strips and unibody brackets?

    Oye amigo yo quisiera saber q tan caro m sale ponerle un bumper de metal a mi toyota rav4 m gusta mucho tu trabajo y quisiera saber si m puede aconsejar

    • @johnpadilla480
      @johnpadilla480 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usted va a tener que hacer uno proque no venden para tu Rav 4. Tambien va tener que usar metal que no es tan guerso proque el peso no va a ser buen para tu rav 4. Mas guerso, mas peso y menos millas por el tanque de gas. vende tu rav 4 y compra un jeep cherokee.
