Not only that, but when welcoming people on the ship or giving tactical advice, he's wrong pretty much all the time (spacing Legion isn't even an option), the only time he's right is when rushing to save the Normandy's crew, and that's only if you've done every loyalty mission because Miranda will agree.
My favorite thing about this ending with Joker looking at all the coffins is the implication that *they had to have the coffins on board.* Imagine you're on a team heading out for a dangerous mission and every time you go into storage to grab a new belt buckle or whatever you have to edge around the *giant stack of coffins.* That would *suck.*
Seeing Shepard bludgeoning Wrex to death and then firing a shotgun blank range, was actually hilarious, because how ridiculous it was. Dude, the guy is dead, if there was an option to kick him in the "quads" afterwards, it would just be an insult.
There are plenty of other videos of the unique lines where particular squad members die at particular points. One of the ones I always found the most moving was if you pick Mordin as the squad leader the second time, while Shep and the Biotic Specialist brave the Seeker Swarms. Mordin obviously dies for being a poor choice, but when he collapses on the other side of the door, his last words to Shep are, "tell them...I held the line." Especially moving for me because earlier in the game, when Shep and Mordin discuss Captain Kirrahe on the Normandy, Mordin was kind of dismissive about speech-making. "Personally preferred to get job done and go home. Probably military bravado, jargon, chest pounding." I like the idea that Mordin still sympathizes with his old STG comrade deep down.
Well, Miordin does tell us that he admires Kirrahe and likes him well enough, calling him "a good man", even though he thinks that Kirrahe can be "a bit of a cloaca", lol.

Precisely for this reason, conscientious preparation is essential. The whole game is mainly the preparation for this one mission. Recruiting the team members is just the first step. You need the unconditional loyalty of each individual. You must have upgraded armor, weapons and shields. Of course, every ME2 player knows this, but I'll say it anyway. For me, who always aims to not waste a single life if I can somehow avoid it, it's almost unbearable to see how beloved characters die in droves. The kidnapped crew needs to be completely rescued as well as every single member of the team and if there was any way to save the colonists of Horizon as well I wouldn't rest until I did it.
Yeah, same... I will replay a game as many times as necessary to ensure all my team-mates survive, even if I don't like them or care about them (looking at you, Jacob). The only deaths that I will very begrudgingly tolerate are the ones made unavoidable by the plot, such as ME1s Virmire mission, where you have to choose one team-mate to sacrifice, in order to save the other one. (looking at you, Sacrifice, er, I mean Kaidan...). (side-note; I could never decide whether Jacob is Kaidan 2.0, or Kaidan is Jacob 1.0 ... they are both extremely boring, annoying, and just about useless in a fight... but even given all that, I still don't want to sacrifice either one if it can be helped at all.)
First time I watched this I wondered, how the dead bodies magically make it back onto the Normandy to be put into the coffins, but I guess they are mostly empty and are just supposed to represent the fallen crewmembers, even if their bodies were lost on the collector base.

At first I was confused why it wasn't Jacob in the vents and then I realized it's death by rocket to the face and that's fitting given his re-debut mission
My first ever blind play of ME2, all my squadmates survived.. but I had no idea about the time constraint, so I arrived at the Collector base just in time to watch Kelly, Dr Chocolates, and my crew get turned into soup. One THOUSAND percent worse than just sending them back with no escort.. so this is only ALMOST the worst ending. 😭 (Also I've seen Tali take a headshot to the mask rather than Garrus, that REALLY hurt.)
It could’ve been worse, if you do missions before going through the omega 4 relay you get to watch Kelly get minced in the collector pod instead of Lilith.

That's the best part, you have to basically sabotage yourself to get this ending. It's kinda funny and sad at the same time. EDIT: There is no Mass Effect 3 if Shepard dies. :P The Reapers win if Shepard is dead.
Supposedly Bioware wanted to have some sort of special Cutscene at the beginning of ME3 if you imported an ME2 save in which Sheaprd had died at the end. One of the loading screens in ME2 actually hint at that. But that never happened. Also I've heard that you could play ME3 as James Vega with such an imported save but I am not sure if that is just a rumour.

@@stanzelot I think that's just a rumor. Tbh, they'd have to change so much of the story to support such an import that it doesn't seem like something they'd do. Which is why I'm mildly worried about the "Mass Effect 4" that's being made. But since our friend here hasn't seen much of ME3 yet, I'm just going to leave it at that.
@@stanzelot They actually thought about the Vega thing, before deciding to nix it. They also, at one time, were thinking about making the Virmire Survivor (Ash or Kaidan) the Dead Shep replacement.
When ME first came out I had to experience every different action, I created 9 Sheps using all the Classes and back then you had to play through 3 times, had to do every mission, not miss anything, unlock every crate and locker, to fully level up. That's 27 playthroughs. On ME2 I carried over all 9 Sheps, killed 3 of them and their crews just like this, again 27 playthroughs except in 1 case my Renegade Male Shep betrayed Samara and recruited Morinth in her place. My Renegade Fem-Shep also betrayed Samara but I carried her over with the 5 other Sheps, 1 from each Class, 2 Renegades, 2, Paragons and 2 Neutral, only 18 playthroughs for ME3. I got so good at remembering the outcome for every action I could customize who lives and dies in each game. All my Sheps had different partners, My Renegade Fem Shep slept with everyone, the slut. She was my favourite Shep, an Engineer, she could control enemy tech like Geth and battle mechs to make them fight each other and with Morinth's power she could turn organic enemies on each other, rarely ever had to fire a shot in battle.
This video doesn't even include my personal pick for most horrifying death: if you do any missions in between the crew getting kidnapped and the suicide mission, then you don't arrive in time to get all of them out of the tubes, and instead of watching that colonist get liquified you instead see Kelly, and half the crew dies with her. That one I actually got once or twice, and it was horrifying.
I manage to keep the whole squad thanks to directions alive and had every possible upgrade on the normandy, but I didn't knew that it was extremly important to rush into omega relay asap after activating the Reaper code, cuz still needed Legion loyalty mission. I had to witness Kelly being turned into some "Reaper-Smoothie". First time playing ME2 and Suicide Mission, lesson learned.
First playthrough I lost two members, Legion and Jack, looking back I made some awful decisions I’m surprised I didn’t lose more, I was shaking through the whole mission scared of every new decision and who would be next. I don’t think there’s another game that got me as emotionally involved as this one.
I can see one reason, aside from intentional sabotage, that someone might get this. And that is if they believe side quests and conversations are a distraction and follow the main quest line only. So, no upgrades and no loyalty missions, and no chatting with the crew to learn what their strengths and weaknesses are.
For shepard todie u need to take two people who are not loyal into the final fight so its deliberate stupidity as most even when nit thinking take their favourites and your favourites normaly end uo being the ones u do loyalty missions for if any
I would say it was a little hard for me to get them all through the other side, though after a few mishaps where I didn't know what I'm doing. but after a few practice runs and a bit of research I found a way to do so even if I had a few non loyal on occasion Shepard can only survive if at least one squad member lives, as to your other question you can't import a file to 3 if Shepard is dead
I had to watch all the clips like this because I absolutely could not do it in game. There was only one run where I let a few characters go, just to see. (Miranda, Jacob, Zaeed)
Not only you saw the worst possible to play Mass Effect 2 but you watched a cameo of Wrex being killed in Mass Effect 1. Mass Effect 3 features no Joker as protagonist. You must have at least 2 survivable fighters to have a decent suicide mission ending.

This is a very brutal ending that person really went out of their way to do the worst possible ending. Even if you do all the upgrades and get everyone's loyalty, you can still have people die, just by choosing the wrong people for certain jobs. For instance I believe if you chose Miranda or Jacob for the biotic bubble, I think they both die cause they are not powerful enough. only Samara and Jack are powerful enough. You really have to make the right decision to keep everyone alive.
On my first playthrough I chose Thane for the biotic bubble and it bursted too early, so the collectors' insects swarmed around Garrus and took him away and he died. Before starting the mission I had sworn the oath that I would keep on playing no matter who died on me. So after that I did the only reasonable thing and loaded an earlier save.
I lost Miranda on my first playthrough--the original release with no DLC characters. I sided with Jack against her (because Jack is awesome) and couldn't keep her loyal. She was left to hold the line with the group during the final battle, and she was shown lying dead on the ground at the end, where you see Mordin etc. in this video. And I was 100% fine with that result, since she was an untrustworthy Cerberus lackey who was mean to Jack. 🤬 My Shepard leaned Paragon, but had a lot of hard-bitten Renegade in her too. So I assume she had quietly asked someone to make sure Miranda met with a convenient 'accident' during the last firefight. 😈 🤐 The other thing that happened was much worse though. After the crew were abducted from the Normandy, I did some random minor sidequest, not realising it would affect anything. The delay meant that when I found the crew on the Collector base, only half were still alive ... and I had to watch Kelly get horribly killed in the tube. The scene is more graphic in the original than in the remaster too. That upset me so much I had to go back and restart from an earlier save. A while later I tried playing through the suicide mission again from the same save just to see what happened. I managed to keep Miranda alive even though she wasn't loyal by bringing weaker squadmates into the final battle, meaning that heavier hitters were left to hold the line. But Miranda dying is canon in my head. Never trust a bloody space Aussie! (I'm an Aussie so I'm allowed to say that. 😜) Really enjoying watching your playthroughs btw!
Ahahaha, the first time I played, I played ME3 because people keep telling me "you can just start in ME3" but then I keep failing to save both Quarians and Geth, either or both keep dying and I get the worst ending (destroy ending but the beam destroyed everything it touches) so I read on how to save them and the only solution is to play from ME2, so I started ME2 and rushed the main mission and get this ending for the first time 🤣🤣
@@LucyusMaximus Miranda is one of the hardest to kill in the mission. Even she's not loyal. I've tried to make a save like this once and like, 3 people survived without my wanting them to.
This is the only ending you _can't_ import into Mass Effect 3. Also, it was eaier to get before the DLC characters were added, as Tali dies in engineering if Kasumi isn't there, plus without Zaeed, it's easier to have a lot defense point squad to hold the door at the end (and therefore die).
Well, in ME3..... Reaper Tech, which I assume Collector tech is partially derivative of, has a weak point in the Weapon's firing chamber when the gun is priming. Maybe that applies here too?
@@GriffinPilgrim the normandy pre upgrades 8s using rail guns , the colectors ship is using a reaper cannon , which in lore is stated to be super heated magma metl shot as a beam to melt through the armor and shields of ship thats why normandies upgraded weapons is a giant beam not a muilti shot weapon
@@demonic_myst4503 That's not an actual Reaper cannon. Same sort of tech but way less powerful; even the SR1 could took multiple hits to fully destroy. The Collectors tech is deliberately meant to be different to the Reapers to prevent anyone figuring out the Reaper's existence from encounters with the Collectors. Besides, the question isn't about the Collector's weapons but their defences.
If you choose to skip recruiting a couple people you would leave Mordin behind to gaurd the door by himself. Personally for this ending id leave just Jacob lol
Eh, the problem with the game is that it doesn't factor in the fact that leaders delegate work for their underlings so naturally you should pick the worst guys to lead the more capable ones for a given job other than leadership. Then the others do the work of actually holding the barrier and all that until they get the job done, or they buy time for their superior to be the last ditch effort.
If BioWare weren’t so focused on Shepard being the Central Protagonist, it would be possible to play ME3 if this video was canon. Obviously, the Virmire Survivor would have to step up and take the lead helped by Liara, EDI & Joker. As the VS is still in the Systems Alliance, s/ he will be taking orders from Hackett and [SPOILERS!] Otherwise, the team will be made up of the various substitutes & stand-ins Shepard would have recruited. The Omega & Citadel DLC are still playable, but they won’t have the same impact especially the latter. Ultimately, I feel you would still be able to play the whole game, but with lowered War Assets and without those cutscenes specific to Shepard.
In my first walkthrough ten years ago I lost only Mordin, because I thought it was super smart to choose him as a tech expert. He is so tiny and talented, what can go wrong?
My first experience with ME2 was watching someone else's playthrough, but I remember thinking about the choices I'd have made had I been playing blind; Kasumi or Mordin through the vents, my logic being that they're a theif and a commando respectively, and both work with tech, so it should be right up their alleys, Garrus to lead the second fireteam the first time since the only other obvious choice is Miranda and that might cause problems with Jack. Since Jack is my barrier specialist, because her whole thing was that she was an absurdly powerful biotic, Miranda could lead the other team the second time, while Samara leads the crew back to the Normandy. That way, both other teams would have someone who could maintain a barrier as well (Or so I thought. Apparently Miranda can't) in case the swarms came for them, too. So yeah, I'd have probably been mostly okay, unless I picked Mordin over Kasumi for the vents. The real trouble would be whether or not I'd realize that I need to have all my affairs in order before doing the IFF mission, cause the game telegraphed pretty clearly that I needed everyone loyal before the _final_ mission, so if I had to spend time after the IFF getting all those done, I'd be looking at some deaths among the non-squad crew, at least.
Supposedly, there is an even worse version that was supposed to be available, but was scrapped at the last minute, and never included in any version of the game that exists. In it, Joker dies too, after being shot again several times by the Collectors. he tumbles out of the Normandy's airlock, and Shepard tries to grab him, but in doing so, Shep loses his/her own grip, and both Shep and Joker tumble into the chasm, Hitting bottom, Shepard lands on top of Joker, crushing what few bones were left unbroken inside Joker, and the last thing that Shep sees, before he/she dies, is Joker's life draining out of his eyes as he is trying to say something through a mouthful of blood and a crushed ribcage. EDI self-pilots the Normandy back to TIM, and reports on everything that happened. TIM then says, "Well, we've got what was important (referring to the Collector Base), everyone, and everything else was expendable", and then he orders EDI destroyed, as well, because he plans to fix up the Normandy with another crew, but doesn't want EDI around to tell anyone else what happened, or what his plans are. The last thing we see is the camera panning through the empty, destroyed inside of the Normandy, until the camera comes to rest on EDI's hologram at the helm. She says, "I'm sorry, Shep..." (ard), before we see the hologram flicker a few times and disappear with a couple of sparks, as EDI is "killed", as well. And the credits roll, in complete silence. No idea if this is real or just some rumor, but it is grim and dark as hell, IMO.
New here. But I know that, if you get this ending, you cannot import that save to Mass Effect 3. As if it is like, Bioware made this scenario as a punishment for people, who played the game REALLY terribly.
What's crazy about the whole thing is that you have to really work very hard to get that ending. If you get that ending, it's almost as if you are admitting you deliberately did.
So, since most of these scenes can be replaced with a different crewmate, there are different responses and such. For instance, the Seeker Swarm kill... I just want to say that the voice acting for these games range from okay to pretty great, but when it comes to screams or shouts, it tends to be rather dull. HOWEVER, Kasumi's voice actress must have had some bills to pay, because her Seeker Swarm death is haunting...
The first time I played ME2, I kept everyone alive, and just assumed that everyone always survived. Then, on my next few playthroughs, I lost someone every time. I was making broadly similar choices, so I couldn't figure out why. My "mistake," I learned later, was doing the IFF mission early, because I wanted to take Legion on more missions. That does make for some interesting exchanges but, as it turns out... not a good idea if you want to save everyone!
@@kvm6 I think you have a threshold of two missions after the Reaper IFF before you start losing people, so you could theoretically save Tali and Legion's loyalty missions for last while still saving everyone.

@@stanzelot They actually thought about the Vega thing, before deciding to nix it. They also, at one time, were thinking about making the Virmire Survivor (Ash or Kaidan) the Dead Shep replacement.
When ME first came out I had to experience every different action, I created 9 Sheps using all the Classes and back then you had to play through 3 times, had to do every mission, not miss anything, unlock every crate and locker, to fully level up. That's 27 playthroughs. On ME2 I carried over all 9 Sheps, killed 3 of them and their crews just like this, again 27 playthroughs except in 1 case my Renegade Male Shep betrayed Samara and recruited Morinth in her place. My Renegade Fem-Shep also betrayed Samara but I carried her over with the 5 other Sheps, 1 from each Class, 2 Renegades, 2, Paragons and 2 Neutral, only 18 playthroughs for ME3.
I got so good at remembering the outcome for every action I could customize who lives and dies in each game. All my Sheps had different partners, My Renegade Fem Shep slept with everyone, the slut. She was my favourite Shep, an Engineer, she could control enemy tech like Geth and battle mechs to make them fight each other and with Morinth's power she could turn organic enemies on each other, rarely ever had to fire a shot in battle.
Watching you cry was harder than anything else
This video doesn't even include my personal pick for most horrifying death: if you do any missions in between the crew getting kidnapped and the suicide mission, then you don't arrive in time to get all of them out of the tubes, and instead of watching that colonist get liquified you instead see Kelly, and half the crew dies with her. That one I actually got once or twice, and it was horrifying.

I manage to keep the whole squad thanks to directions alive and had every possible upgrade on the normandy, but I didn't knew that it was extremly important to rush into omega relay asap after activating the Reaper code, cuz still needed Legion loyalty mission. I had to witness Kelly being turned into some "Reaper-Smoothie". First time playing ME2 and Suicide Mission, lesson learned.
First playthrough I lost two members, Legion and Jack, looking back I made some awful decisions I’m surprised I didn’t lose more, I was shaking through the whole mission scared of every new decision and who would be next. I don’t think there’s another game that got me as emotionally involved as this one.
I can see one reason, aside from intentional sabotage, that someone might get this. And that is if they believe side quests and conversations are a distraction and follow the main quest line only. So, no upgrades and no loyalty missions, and no chatting with the crew to learn what their strengths and weaknesses are.
For shepard todie u need to take two people who are not loyal into the final fight so its deliberate stupidity as most even when nit thinking take their favourites and your favourites normaly end uo being the ones u do loyalty missions for if any
I would say it was a little hard for me to get them all through the other side, though after a few mishaps where I didn't know what I'm doing. but after a few practice runs and a bit of research I found a way to do so even if I had a few non loyal on occasion
Shepard can only survive if at least one squad member lives, as to your other question you can't import a file to 3 if Shepard is dead
I had to watch all the clips like this because I absolutely could not do it in game. There was only one run where I let a few characters go, just to see. (Miranda, Jacob, Zaeed)

This is a very brutal ending that person really went out of their way to do the worst possible ending. Even if you do all the upgrades and get everyone's loyalty, you can still have people die, just by choosing the wrong people for certain jobs. For instance I believe if you chose Miranda or Jacob for the biotic bubble, I think they both die cause they are not powerful enough. only Samara and Jack are powerful enough. You really have to make the right decision to keep everyone alive.
On my first playthrough I chose Thane for the biotic bubble and it bursted too early, so the collectors' insects swarmed around Garrus and took him away and he died. Before starting the mission I had sworn the oath that I would keep on playing no matter who died on me. So after that I did the only reasonable thing and loaded an earlier save.

To be fair to Sheppard Garrus did have good tech skills in ME1, not his fault Garrus was so reliant on the Omni-gel hack. 😛
I lost Miranda on my first playthrough--the original release with no DLC characters. I sided with Jack against her (because Jack is awesome) and couldn't keep her loyal. She was left to hold the line with the group during the final battle, and she was shown lying dead on the ground at the end, where you see Mordin etc. in this video.
And I was 100% fine with that result, since she was an untrustworthy Cerberus lackey who was mean to Jack. 🤬
My Shepard leaned Paragon, but had a lot of hard-bitten Renegade in her too. So I assume she had quietly asked someone to make sure Miranda met with a convenient 'accident' during the last firefight. 😈 🤐
The other thing that happened was much worse though. After the crew were abducted from the Normandy, I did some random minor sidequest, not realising it would affect anything. The delay meant that when I found the crew on the Collector base, only half were still alive ... and I had to watch Kelly get horribly killed in the tube. The scene is more graphic in the original than in the remaster too. That upset me so much I had to go back and restart from an earlier save.
A while later I tried playing through the suicide mission again from the same save just to see what happened. I managed to keep Miranda alive even though she wasn't loyal by bringing weaker squadmates into the final battle, meaning that heavier hitters were left to hold the line.
But Miranda dying is canon in my head. Never trust a bloody space Aussie!

Ahahaha, the first time I played, I played ME3 because people keep telling me "you can just start in ME3" but then I keep failing to save both Quarians and Geth, either or both keep dying and I get the worst ending (destroy ending but the beam destroyed everything it touches) so I read on how to save them and the only solution is to play from ME2, so I started ME2 and rushed the main mission and get this ending for the first time 🤣🤣
Ive done this once, its alot of fun. Usually wipe out tali, grunt, and or jacob, makes for more entertaining renegade playthroughs.

@@LucyusMaximus Miranda is one of the hardest to kill in the mission. Even she's not loyal. I've tried to make a save like this once and like, 3 people survived without my wanting them to.
This is the only ending you _can't_ import into Mass Effect 3. Also, it was eaier to get before the DLC characters were added, as Tali dies in engineering if Kasumi isn't there, plus without Zaeed, it's easier to have a lot defense point squad to hold the door at the end (and therefore die).

In fairness the original Normandy never got the chances to fire back so we never really got a gauge on it's defensive capabilities.

Reaper Tech, which I assume Collector tech is partially derivative of, has a weak point in the Weapon's firing chamber when the gun is priming. Maybe that applies here too?

@@GriffinPilgrim the normandy pre upgrades 8s using rail guns , the colectors ship is using a reaper cannon , which in lore is stated to be super heated magma metl shot as a beam to melt through the armor and shields of ship thats why normandies upgraded weapons is a giant beam not a muilti shot weapon
@@demonic_myst4503 That's not an actual Reaper cannon. Same sort of tech but way less powerful; even the SR1 could took multiple hits to fully destroy. The Collectors tech is deliberately meant to be different to the Reapers to prevent anyone figuring out the Reaper's existence from encounters with the Collectors.
Besides, the question isn't about the Collector's weapons but their defences.
If you choose to skip recruiting a couple people you would leave Mordin behind to gaurd the door by himself. Personally for this ending id leave just Jacob lol
Eh, the problem with the game is that it doesn't factor in the fact that leaders delegate work for their underlings so naturally you should pick the worst guys to lead the more capable ones for a given job other than leadership. Then the others do the work of actually holding the barrier and all that until they get the job done, or they buy time for their superior to be the last ditch effort.
If BioWare weren’t so focused on Shepard being the Central Protagonist, it would be possible to play ME3 if this video was canon.
Obviously, the Virmire Survivor would have to step up and take the lead helped by Liara, EDI & Joker. As the VS is still in the Systems Alliance, s/ he will be taking orders from Hackett and [SPOILERS!]
Otherwise, the team will be made up of the various substitutes & stand-ins Shepard would have recruited.
The Omega & Citadel DLC are still playable, but they won’t have the same impact especially the latter.
Ultimately, I feel you would still be able to play the whole game, but with lowered War Assets and without those cutscenes specific to Shepard.
I would love to see Joker as the ME3 main character!

In my first walkthrough ten years ago I lost only Mordin, because I thought it was super smart to choose him as a tech expert. He is so tiny and talented, what can go wrong?

My first experience with ME2 was watching someone else's playthrough, but I remember thinking about the choices I'd have made had I been playing blind; Kasumi or Mordin through the vents, my logic being that they're a theif and a commando respectively, and both work with tech, so it should be right up their alleys, Garrus to lead the second fireteam the first time since the only other obvious choice is Miranda and that might cause problems with Jack. Since Jack is my barrier specialist, because her whole thing was that she was an absurdly powerful biotic, Miranda could lead the other team the second time, while Samara leads the crew back to the Normandy. That way, both other teams would have someone who could maintain a barrier as well (Or so I thought. Apparently Miranda can't) in case the swarms came for them, too.
So yeah, I'd have probably been mostly okay, unless I picked Mordin over Kasumi for the vents. The real trouble would be whether or not I'd realize that I need to have all my affairs in order before doing the IFF mission, cause the game telegraphed pretty clearly that I needed everyone loyal before the _final_ mission, so if I had to spend time after the IFF getting all those done, I'd be looking at some deaths among the non-squad crew, at least.
Supposedly, there is an even worse version that was supposed to be available, but was scrapped at the last minute, and never included in any version of the game that exists.
In it, Joker dies too, after being shot again several times by the Collectors. he tumbles out of the Normandy's airlock, and Shepard tries to grab him, but in doing so, Shep loses his/her own grip, and both Shep and Joker tumble into the chasm,
Hitting bottom, Shepard lands on top of Joker, crushing what few bones were left unbroken inside Joker, and the last thing that Shep sees, before he/she dies, is Joker's life draining out of his eyes as he is trying to say something through a mouthful of blood and a crushed ribcage.
EDI self-pilots the Normandy back to TIM, and reports on everything that happened. TIM then says, "Well, we've got what was important (referring to the Collector Base), everyone, and everything else was expendable", and then he orders EDI destroyed, as well, because he plans to fix up the Normandy with another crew, but doesn't want EDI around to tell anyone else what happened, or what his plans are.
The last thing we see is the camera panning through the empty, destroyed inside of the Normandy, until the camera comes to rest on EDI's hologram at the helm. She says, "I'm sorry, Shep..." (ard), before we see the hologram flicker a few times and disappear with a couple of sparks, as EDI is "killed", as well.
And the credits roll, in complete silence.
No idea if this is real or just some rumor, but it is grim and dark as hell, IMO.
New here. But I know that, if you get this ending, you cannot import that save to Mass Effect 3. As if it is like, Bioware made this scenario as a punishment for people, who played the game REALLY terribly.
What's crazy about the whole thing is that you have to really work very hard to get that ending. If you get that ending, it's almost as if you are admitting you deliberately did.

So, since most of these scenes can be replaced with a different crewmate, there are different responses and such. For instance, the Seeker Swarm kill... I just want to say that the voice acting for these games range from okay to pretty great, but when it comes to screams or shouts, it tends to be rather dull. HOWEVER, Kasumi's voice actress must have had some bills to pay, because her Seeker Swarm death is haunting...
The first time I played ME2, I kept everyone alive, and just assumed that everyone always survived. Then, on my next few playthroughs, I lost someone every time. I was making broadly similar choices, so I couldn't figure out why. My "mistake," I learned later, was doing the IFF mission early, because I wanted to take Legion on more missions. That does make for some interesting exchanges but, as it turns out... not a good idea if you want to save everyone!
Legion should definitely go to Tali's trial.

@@kvm6 I think you have a threshold of two missions after the Reaper IFF before you start losing people, so you could theoretically save Tali and Legion's loyalty missions for last while still saving everyone.
