People worrying about the movement being snappy is usually a good thing in games like this. I really doubt it would play well if it played like a Rockstar game were your character tried to move realistically and responsive controls took a backseat. Snappy animation movement usually means the devs are prioritizing responsive controls over realistic looking animations.
@@lordhughmungus Yeah, I don't remember having the same problem with RDR1. That said I really got into Dark Souls between RDR1 and RDR2 so I've probably gotten more sensitive to that kind of thing.
@@dhgmrz17 Same here, RDR1 is one of my favorite games ever. I replayed it not long before picking up the sequel and the movement is definitely a lot better.
This might be a small thing… but I love the way the mage held the staff. In most games I’ve played with mages they always hold the staff by their waist while idle/running but this one was holding it up right. It’s such a small detail but it will add so much immersion when I inevitably do a Gandalf the Grey playthrough
I also liked how when casting he would conjure the magic in his hand and then send it to the staff when ready to let the spell loose on the enemy. Looked amazing. They really cleaned up the greatsword combat too!
I've always loved the Dragon Age 2 staff stance, wish that was in more games as it looks so stylish. Like they're they're to fight and ready to use it as a bo staff if they need to. 😅 Plus, flipping the staff around to sling spells always looks awesome.
It's a small thing, but when you have a lot of small things like these it really adds up to make a big difference in the end. It shows that the devs care a lot and put immersion to a high priority imo.
for me its that mages in this game are fucking mages, most games wizards are like they are in Dragon Age 2, where they're basically D&D monks who shoot magic bullets, give me a fucking nerd who can't fight to save his life but he can end the world with a math equation and a staff
@@vooligan9499personally I kinda hated it you looked like an anime kid trying to lol cool waiting on cool downs for half the fight I think if they slowed it down and made it tied in with actually casting it would’ve been better. Nothing worse than seeing your guy twirling and shit and you see 10 dmg above an enemies head.
...For all the times people here call the Japanese "BASED", they sure A.F. are NOT based when it comes to the absolute tampons they choose to give preview and review copies to
This is low level gameplay. I guess you never played the first game because that’s exactly how it is at the start. What are you expecting to see? I didn’t see anything wrong with the gameplay.
@@xjrei17either they got rid of scarlet kisses or they gave him a shit load out for most of the classes but sorc. Either way i can see some people that haven’t played the first game saying, “that’s it?”
It kinda aggravated me they didn't use the quick-use button for the health item. It's up and down for health and stamina respectively on the d-pad while holding the weapon skill button
One thing i think Asmon would appreciate about this game is the lore of creatures directly affects their behaviors and gameplay mechanics. They didnt show it in this trailer, but the lore of trolls is they hate men and lust women. In a party full of men Trolls stay in an enraged state, and if you have females in your party trolls will legit just take them and run away. Its great cuz subtle nuances like that give a variety of game play experience. And side note to his earlier question, a lock on system does exist, but only for certain vocations. I'll leave it to him to play the first Dragons Dogma to figure out which ones.
@@Neropol14 thats the other thing i appreciate about the game. Even if they are the same classification of creature, the resistances and behaviors of deviant subspecies change. Adding more complexity. If there is anything capcom will always nail, its world building.

Ngl seeing people appreciating Capcom and their games recently is heartwarming. Capcom had their ups and downs but ever since 2017 they were doing the work and almost all of their games were amazing, starting from re7, MH, DMC5, SF6 and Re4... and now Dragon Dogma 2. As someone who grew up with Capcom and their games i'm very happy they’re being appreciated for their games and imo they understand how to make fun games. They have flaws for sure re3R is the best example but they know how to make games fun imo and that’s why i love them.
@@cdeo4l668 lol yeah re games were definitely all over the place but i think once they had their new engine”REengine” they started doing great starting from re7 in 2017 and tbh after that they were doing amazing hit after hit, sure re3 was... interesting but aside from that all their games were amazing and fun, DMC5 is the best example it’s too good.
NGL as a dragon's dogma fan not only did i not expect a sequel, i also didn't expect it to be this popular Been playing twice a year for almost a decade so this warms my heart ❤️
It's a really great feeling when you come back to the game months or years later and find out you have so many Rift Crystals waiting for you because people have been taking your pawn on adventures.
@@Lark88 This just happened to me haha. I started up the game for the first time in a couple years and had 325k rift crystals. Might sound low, but for how poorly optimized my pawn was it was quite a haul. Finally playing the game again with a more meta-built pawn annnd... the community is all level 200 running BBI, doing online ur, etc. so my pawn isn't getting rented out hahaha.
it was a feature in the first game that when resting at a camp you could talk to your pawn and change how they address you, if you wanted them to be respectful or sarcastic or timid or bold etc. I'd like to see that feature return in the second game.
The thing that Asmond, or anybody unaware, also needs to know is that the Capcom team behind DD is not the same as MH. The reason why combat is good and snappy is because the director, Hideaki Itsuno, and a lot of the people behind the combat design are the same ones from Devil May Cry(Shit, Itsuno IS Devil May Cry, even if Kamiya was the series father) and even further back to Street Fighter 3rd Strike. For example, when people noticed that the combat in Final Fantasy 16's resembled something out of Capcom/DMC, that's because combat director is Ryota Suzuki was the mastermind behind it coming after finishing with DMC5. Lots of old heads with Fighting Game experience. And many here coming hot after DMC 5. This are the same guys that made long time Capcom fans say "Capcom's back" with DMC 5, along with RE2 Remake, back to back, with RE7 being the first to show the signs of positive shake up.
@@AtticusKarpenter Even better, he designed the world and game concepts from the ground up himself for many years before he pitched the first game to capcom. First one ended up only releasing with 40% of initially planned content cause Itsuno got pulled to another project on a more important IP (DMC 2 iirc), and after he was pulled the DD team lost their funding. I'm guessing that his personal success within the company is leading to DD2 being what he originally envisioned for the first game.
So about the lock on, it’s an auto lock. I’m a big dark souls fan and in that game you need that lock on, but a game like this where the combat is very very fast paced an auto lock actually feels amazing to have so your character just automatically will face towards an enemy you’re walking towards or swinging towards. To those of you worried, please don’t be, if it’s anything like dragons dogma 1 it’s going to feel just right.
Heck yes. Dude, Bionic Commando is like top 5 NES game ever made (For me). That thing still slaps even today. However, more recently I played the heck out of Monster Hunter World - Iceborne - Rise - Sunbreak - Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Its crazy how good capcom has been insane for quality as of late. Im not sure what clicked, but they stopped trying to milk franchises, and seem to be more inline with just giving gamers what they want. The REmakes are exactly what all devs need to be doing when remaking a new game, the quality is just so good.
RE7 was the turning point. RE Engine just was that good. And the MHW came out and became their best seller. Capcom hasn't looked back since. Feels so great to see them do good.
i played the first one it was seriously underrated. the gamplay was slow at first but i maxed out every class and they all become monster slaying heros. and the exploration was amazing. being shorter or taller to get through holes or jump to higher ledges. theres a lot of reason to make more then one play through
I tried playing dd1 like 4 different times since it released on 360.. every single time the game felt borderline impossible.. zero ability to dodge any attacks and if you fight anything 1 level above you, you just get 2 shot.. i tried every time because the game looks so good, but how in the shit do you progress? It legit feels like darksouls without the ability to dodge..
@@TheHollowBlade brotha u were doing something wrong, i regularly challenged multi level harder creatures just becuz of how fun it was, u can survive a hit if you're not just a glass cannon
@@TheHollowBlade i never played the original, just dark arisen. But yea early game can be pretty brutal if you don't know what your doing (ie going off the main road past the encampment and winding up at the Great filter area or the lizard well in the starting village). There's no harm in sticking to the road before the encampment fighting goblins to learn the mechanics and how to utilize your vocation
@TheHollowBlade yeah you had to feel it out. I staid with the main story to start because they really dont throw anything at you you cant handle. But after you get a little ways thru its gets tough so you wana go out and find loot and slay monsters to get better. Just gotta save and test things out.
I played DD1 for the first time a few months ago. Stellar game, great gameplay and some really cool builds you can put together. It also has a full endgame dungeon that scales way past the main game where you can really push your characters and farm some awesome gear. I am so hyped for this game.
DD:DA will always hold a special place in my heart for its magic. I didn’t use the class much myself, but there is something special about seeing Bolide being cast.
yeah the magic is awesome... unfortunately this guy was terrible and he was only level 11 so he literally just became a sorcerer so didn't have many spells. since you have to be level 10 to become advanced class.
@@arcanumelite4853 That was in the first game, we've already seen changes in classes like Strider being torn in two. Don't be surprised if advanced classes can be picked early, immediately or just changed on how to unlock them even. May be based on a quest instead of level for example. We just don't know.
@@theworstcatholic7247 actually level 10 is still the requirement to become an advanced class which is why the sorc in the video didn't have any of the actual sorc spells and was just using mage skills.. outside of one spell. not really a good showcase of sorc when it was mostly using mage skills.
@@arcanumelite4853Point out where that was confirmed. You're not going to be able to because it hasn't been. Classes have been changed a decent amount, there's easily a chance for their unlocks to be.
Worth noting I think about that sorcerer gameplay, there's more going on that you don't see without some game knowledge (assuming of course things work like they did in the 1st). A lot of sorcerer gameplay comes down to exploiting the elemental weaknesses of the enemy, and they're also location based weaknesses. For example, cyclops were especially vulnerable to being stunned by lightning attacks to the eye/head, but fire was the way to go once you're in a position to lay down the hurt. The chimera favored a group strategy, burning the lion head, lightning to the goat head, and slicing then burning the snake head tail so it couldn't regrow. This showcase didnt really explain much of that (though it seems the guy was at least somewhat doing it) so the sorcerer showcase didnt look impressive by comparison here, but if it's anything like the first, sorcerer class was something you go "eh, I guess its kinda cool, rather play X though" until you pick it up later, get it equipped and leveled and you get the grand spells.... hooooly shiiiiit there is nothing in the game like landing a grand spell. It's like 5-10 second cast with huge animation lock but it hits every bit as hard as you would think, especially maelstrom bringing down a gigantic tornado. I still consider myself an assassin main just because the counter attack move was deliciously fun, but sorc was a close second.
Mage is a healer and damage and honestly not the best in early, tho the Vocations strength comes to show when you get better spells... or much better if you advanced to Sorcerer instead. I'm surprise that the mage in the gameplay is not casting Anodyne
Something worth noting: A lot of this slowness is 100% a skill issue. There's a lot of suboptimal play being done here, furthermore they're also missing a lot of what their vocations have access to. For the former, you can see many examples of the person playing attempting to climb the Cyclops when low on stamina, or how the Sorcerer would exhaust themselves casting spells. They also aren't targeting noteworthy areas. The Cyclops being a notable example, as you can make them drop their weapon by damaging them, and attacks near the eye do a lot of damage and tend to stun it. The latter is most notable for the Sorcerer. In Dragon's Dogma, your level and vocation level separately. When you level up you gain stats based on your currently equipped vocation. When your vocation levels up, you gain access to new skills for said vocation and augments (which are essentially perks that you can equip on any vocation). Your vocation rank levels rather quickly, generally leveling fastest by killing lower tier enemies (I haven't done much research into why, I assume it's a level by quantity and not quality type of thing). The footage is showing almost exclusively early Sorcerer skills. Sorcerer is most known for Maelstrom and Bolide, the former conjuring a tornado and the latter being a meteor swarm. Regardless: they're masterworks all, you can't go wrong!
i like how they made the magic faster to cast since while i did like the slow casting speed in dg1 since it made it feel more impactful when you finally get the spell off the faster cast speeds just making the class more approachable
DD1 had the most epic spells of any game I've ever played. But my sorcerer run's most powerful tool was hold Y...release lol. Could never get a maelstrom or a boldie to hit a boss.
@@fvb7 true! The spells were so epic they really did a great job making sorcerers feel like powerful glass cannons. My favorite spell was meteor even though it barely hit anything lol so I mainly used the icicles spell
Tou could group assist cast in dd1 also most people didn't know. If your pawn is casting a long spell and you have same spell equipped you can go by them and cast same spell to speed up the cast
20:48 I love the little details when the Ogre collapsed and you see the bushes and trees blow back from the impact. Loved the first game so much for the same reasons!
One of the interesting things to note here though is that Pawns (the NPC part members) learn to fight certain enemies better the more often they've encountered them, so right now they're saying fairly standard stuff as there's very limited gameplay data for them to pull from, but as the game comes out and gets older you'll also end up getting strategies and advice on weaknesses or particular dangers, Ogres for example ( the hairy gorilla monster in the warrior's clip) are perverted and will prioritize attacking female characters if there are any in the party while, at least in the first game, there was another variant of them that had the same behavior but towards men instead and the Pawns would make note of that and inform you of such
The sorcerer class was my favorite in DD1. Mage is more of a support. I ended up maining the Magick Archer class I wished they could've showed more advanced magic spells, bcuz he just used very basic ones The tornado just sucked up groups of enemies and rained them down on the battle field. The Meteor Storm just rained meters down on whole battlefield. Necromancy was pretty neat I really wanna see what they got in DD2 so badly
Yeah this was a terrible presentation of mage gameplay for DD, its actually really good and if you use the right abilities vs the right enemies unrivaled in the amount of destruction you can cause. Also the big spells truly make you feel super powerful BUT never completely overshadow the old spells because bigger spells = bigger cast times. A warrior or rogue or archer can just derp away, a mage needs to use the right ability at the right time. And IGN on low level characters with almost no time with the class....well....this performance is kind of expected.
@@Ralathar44 Bigger spells always took more stamina. And stamina recharges so damb slowly.. I did stick with fire ball and lightning spells since they were easy and cheap There was never anything more satisfying than casting High Maelstrom in the belly of a group of MANY enemies DD had some of the best magic game play Ilve ever seen since Wizard of Legend. And I look forward to finally playing Hogwartz
Goddamn the first game was fun as hell. You could basically play as any fantasy character you wanted (from Legolas to Guts), the game encouraged experimentation and branching out, and any play style you went with had a class for you (Strength, Dexterity, or Magic, and any combo of the 3)
As a die hard fan of the first game I’m so pumped for the second I’m willing to bet there’s gonna be “those guys” saying oh it’s not elden ring or baldurs gate and stuff like that trying to compare it to others dragons dogma is unique I have never had a similar experience
When i first used that tornado spell in the first game it just cemented what playstyle i want. Bonking is fun but when you summon the sun on top of something the spectacle alone is fun enough to play
Cant wait for every single person who plays this to have always been a Dragons Dogma fan, even though the first one was niche. I hope they release something akin to Bitterblack Isle in the future. It felt like isekai dungeon diving.
I mean I've been a fan since the first game even before Dark Arisen. I didn't even know about it, just saw the cover and title and thought it looked cool. I hope it has something like that built-in but more content is always nice.
I remember first reading an article about DD in Game Informer Magazine. I picked it up soon after it came out. Still have my first copy on Xbox 360 with my pawn wearing Guts' armor.
Bro it'll be forever mind blowing seeing asmon give it exposure to his massive fan base. Fuck, if it weren't for dd:da on the 360/ps3 I probably never would have ended up finding out about Berserk. I'm actually playing again on my ps5, and I'm falling in love all over again.
What I loved most about the first game was it felt like a DnD game where the more you go on quest you get knowledge about enemy weaknesses and a maxxed out character despite class was no joke with end game gear. They added a load of new classes to the point players will have ridiculously long hours of gameplay to completely max a character.
That's definitely the point, it has been stated that Dragon's Dogma was inspired by the D&D tabletop. Honestly one of my biggest hopes for DD2 at this point, is that they allow you to have more than one save.
I remember watching my friend's lvl infinity sorcerer pawn absolutely obliterate the map with meteorites and immediately knew this game was good. Its especially cool that some enemies also use the same spells/skills you do. Like as overpowered as it is to wreck enemies with a tornado it equally hurts just as bad to get one cast on you.
This series is shaping to be cult like. Reminds me much on Souls series and it's gain of popularity. Can't wait for people to rediscover dd1 after they fall in love with dd2.
7:11 you lose stamina if you are grabbing to stay on top, at that moment he jumped out of the grab and was standing over the neck by pure luck or skill in maintaing his equilibrium. Every moment you are grabbing you lose stamina, either moving or just staying still.
Asmon 100% needs to play Dark Arisen before DD2 releases. He'll understand the mechanics more, but also pretty sure itll get him even more hyped about the sequel
Asmongold. If you get a chance to play Dragon’s Dogma before the sequel comes out. You WILL love greatsword. Nothing feels better than big dicking multiple health bars off a boss with warrior. The game is relatively short too. Main quests are very minimal. Makes replaying the game super high value with the DLC and many optional/missable quests. Plus the ability to level to 200. There’s a lot of game for a relatively short story. For me, it harkens back to the design of chrono trigger. Obviously extremely different games, but in terms of how to structure an rpg with various ways to play. They both hit that same note really well.
Yeah, pommel smash to the head, stun them, knock them down, as they begin to fall, let go and follow up with a drop attack, while the enemy is still stunned on the ground, finish them off with an Arc of might to the head. The warrior gameplay here is so slow, I mean, yes, it's a slow class, but the way it's really played is fluid heavy movements into other heavy movements, animation canceling with something like exodus slash and keep chaining more moves and Warrior actually becomes a whirlwind of death with much more agile moves as to what was showcased here.
and something I liked a lot is that you could change what they say and how they behave and also if you summoned a pawn from another player that already played a mission you were doing the pawn will actually try to give you info about what/how to do the mission
So not only standing on the giant's shoulders and recovering stamina, but when on it's head she was pressing her knee into it's neck for support and started doing the downward stab. Amazing.
The funniest part of this whole video was the carriage pulling up to the fight and just randomly stopping to look at them fight and say "Dear me..." Funniest shit I've ever seen
Pawns (companions) had their own level of knowledge about quests, locations and monsters. If you get a pawn who is maxed out they can give you hints for quests or they will target a monster's weakness more for example. But you would have to pay more for pawns the higher their level compared to yours unless you're friends with them. Seems they're keeping this cause I heard several callouts , some very vague and others pretty specific.
Your pawn's behavior and tendencies can be customized. Only yours and not other people's that you borrow though. But the tendency on the fighter pawn during the mage gameplay is too high towards support skills and that's why he randomly would use the shield boost skill and launch the mage lol. They could fix it in a minute if they really wanted to.
Those mod are the beginner mobs. Cyclops are 5-6 times bigger, Chimeras and griffins are 3-4 times bigger, and dragons are daym way way bigger. Plus those are just mobs, bosses have skills.
I hope the pawn system is the same. It’s so nice to have a pawn that’s been through the mission before in your party. They give you tips and tell you where to go lol
Not only is it the same, it's more in depth. Pawns can have specialty perks like knowing how to speak different languages. Like if you stumble upon some ruins, if one of your pawns knows how the read the tablets and shit scattered around you can bypass needing to find a translator in town or unlock new parts of the dungeon that you would otherwise not be able to gain access too.
What I love about this game is that the combat aged so well. People that never got to experience the first game don't even know that the combat here that they're praising has existed since the first game with only minor changes. 10/10 RPG, I can't wait to play this!
The great sword gameplay has very similar mechanics to the great sword in monster hunter it seems I remember the sword and shield playing a lot like the charge blade in arisen as well
The original was an amazing game, this is going to be awesome. If we had the gameplay of this game with the questing/mmo of ddo online it would legit be the best computer D&D experience out.
I'm being extra regarded right now. Are you talking about dragons dogma online or dnd online? I wish Dragon's Dogma online had a western release before it got the plug pulled though.
@@garrettwilliams8637 well both really, it's possible that if dogma 2 does well they'll make an mmo out of the engine they made but dont hold your breath. I think it would definitely do well.
The first game was so obviously unfinished and yet still became a cult classic. The fact that this looks so much like the original fills me with hope. I haven't been excited for a game in a long time.
Clunkiness should frankly be tuned out of games. MH actually suffers from it, and I'm convinced fans of my are more masochistic than souls fans. But assuming mh was never talked about, dd is actually far from clunky, to which I would point right at mh for an accurate scale on truly clunky or not.

I haven't touched the newest monster hunter because Monster Hunter World was still dog ass with its controls. To which the fans argue it's a feature and part of the "difficulty" in the same way souls fans say the games difficulty is part of the experience. That's the only reason why I brought souls games up. Sadly the game on Steam is not exactly regionally priced. It's a direct conversion from USD ($70), equivalent of a month's worth of meal for where I live. I've been a fan since the first but sadly this one I might have to wait for sale or something. Such is life.
Dragon's dogma is the best action RPG ever created. Capcom is a master creator, they create Street fighter for fighting genre, Resident evil for horror Zombie genre, Monster hunter and this one DD for ARPG.
I really hope this doesn’t end badly I consider this game to be my greatest game of all time, it’s what made me love rpg open world style games. Will buy instantly if it’s good
The combat in this looks really good, I like how you're not swinging a giant ass sword like it's a butter knife, it definitely feels that Warrior is a high risk high reward, if you land those blows, that doing serious damage
Warrior was no joke in DD1,it only had 3 skill slots and a limited amount of skills to learn, but thats all it needed to destroy everything on its path, sending everything flying with the swing of an arc of deliverance was so satisfying.
Eh. Co-op not being in the first was likely attributed to your companions being pawns, which aren't human and more like walking dolls that can sometimes talk about your quests. Maybe they can make it work in dd2, since they had a Japanese only dragons dogma mmo that I believe got shut down. But as far as I've seen, it's still single player.
i did always wish the main pawn could be co-op playable i mean its pretty much mechanicaly built in already but i doubt it will ever happen. Capcom seems very afraid of mixing co-op in story games
i just completed the first one and the game is really good i just hope they add a lot more armor and weapons. i found myself using the same armor the whole game and swapped weapons like 3 times because all the other ones suked but once you defeat the dragon then the armors and good weapon's show up till then nope
there is once you defeat the dragon ... but until then i found myself wearing the same armor and the sword for most of the game but yes once you defeat the dragon and fall into the ruins thats when a lot of good armors show up.@@kg888
With the Cyclops fight you do higher damage if you hit the eye. All bosses have weak points (Some have many) that take more damage. Some bosses like the Chimera have multiple. The Chimera does mele damage from the lion head it does magic from the goat head and does poison from the snake head. In DD1 you wanted to take out the snake first because he would lay down AOE pools of poison. Then you would attack the goat head because the goat cast mostly blindness. Then you take out the lion. Not to mention that for example with any snake creature like the snake tail of the Chimera or the snake head of a Hydra the closer you climb to the head the more damage you do. The depth of the boss battles in DD1 were insane. Then just when you think well I have got this figured out then they throw a cyclops at you that is wearing an armored helmet that you have to break somehow before you can hit the eye. In DD1 the combat was fluid and the bosses were a really fun challenge. If they make the fighting and boss systems half as good as they look on screen in this demo then they will win GOTY hands down.
Thanks asmon for giving this game futher exposure its long deserved. For those skeptical all i can say is try ut fir yourself & you will understand why dragons dogma is so unique & in its own league.
Without even watching the video I'm gonna guess Asmon is blown away by the game and will bang on for 23 minutes about how he's actually gonna play a game instead of talking about it. Then he will decide to play through the first one, before changing to a completely different game just because more people on steam are playing it(adults get influenced by things like that)
Out of everthing, i do want them yo really fix how you navigate through the Menu, Inventory, Equipment and such. The first game was very clunky with such things and having a cleaner one with something like Dark Souls would help the game a lot especially if they add something like quickswap. Classes than use more than one weapon tupe would really benefit having a quickswap and even actually using throwable items would be a lot easier. The D-Pad being use for commands could have been used instead for the quickswap as really i have never even used the commands in most of my DDDA playthrough.
You lose Stamina in MHW no matter which body part you're on. If it shakes, you lose a bunch if you don't brace. You can mitigate it and do some damage if you move when it shakes. It can also ram a wall to do something similar as shaking or do a fast forward movement.
Dragon's Dogma always had a lock-on, and so does DD2. Only thing that sets this franchise apart from the rest, is you don't see any big annoying lock-on target/UI. You were always able to flick your analog stick in the direction of the enemy you want to attack, while attacking, and you stay locked on to that target until it's dead, or you move the analog stick again. It's stupidly easy to switch targets this way as well, with no hindrance. Even when targeting specific body parts, like the heart/chest of a small dragon, once you've locked-on to it by flicking your stick, your character doesn't stop attacking the heart of the dragon until you move the stick again, or the dragon dies. Just one of the many reasons why DD has some of the most fluid combat of any video game to date.
There was a great afk exploit to level vocations really fast in the first game. Not sure how many other people knew about this, in the town the guards/soldiers all have basic fighter attacks and they spawn infinitely in the noble district. You could stand on top of a high wall, like by the church, and they'd group up under you trying to aggro you, and you could have your pawns stand far away and just melt them lol. After beating the game I did this to try all sorts of different class combinations and unlock their skills !
I would've liked to see the cyclops and other big enemies destroy parts of the environment and then have that environment damage reset when your rest. Like the attacks that went through the trees would've looked insane if the trees got destroyed too. But the gameplay is still good and looks to be pretty responsive
This game rewards you for learning a monsters moves as well. For the rogue, it's fun to just chug a salabrous brew to get temporarily unlimited stamina and grapple onto a monsters head and just go stab happy. And at around 16:40 with the greatsword, they were too far away to do anything but if you could get an attack off while the ogre is off balance after it's attack, you can get it to fall over. I love the original Dragons Dogma to death. Can still pick it up today and have just as much fun with it as i did a decade ago. Easily one of my top 10 games of all time, personally.
The movement in RDR2 made that game completely unplayable to me. Shit was legitimately awful.

And then you have elder trolls who are the complete opposite.
@@Neropol14 thats the other thing i appreciate about the game. Even if they are the same classification of creature, the resistances and behaviors of deviant subspecies change. Adding more complexity. If there is anything capcom will always nail, its world building.

Taking that fighting game know how into new worlds eh? Thats awesome.
omg, Itsuno is head of the development of this game? Legend still at work, that is incredible pleasant to hear
I just pooped myself.
If thats true and the combat is anything like DMC im preordering this game😂
As a 3 decade gamer. Its nice to see capcom on fire like it was in the late 80s throughout the 90s and mid 2000s.

Its crazy how good capcom has been insane for quality as of late. Im not sure what clicked, but they stopped trying to milk franchises, and seem to be more inline with just giving gamers what they want. The REmakes are exactly what all devs need to be doing when remaking a new game, the quality is just so good.
If they made a souls like Mega Man game, I would lose my mind.
capcom really on the redemption arc, I love to see it
RE7 was the turning point. RE Engine just was that good. And the MHW came out and became their best seller. Capcom hasn't looked back since. Feels so great to see them do good.

I tried playing dd1 like 4 different times since it released on 360.. every single time the game felt borderline impossible.. zero ability to dodge any attacks and if you fight anything 1 level above you, you just get 2 shot.. i tried every time because the game looks so good, but how in the shit do you progress? DD:DA will always hold a special place in my heart for its magic. I didn’t use the class much myself, but there is something special about seeing Bolide being cast.
yeah the magic is awesome... unfortunately this guy was terrible and he was only level 11 so he literally just became a sorcerer so didn't have many spells. since you have to be level 10 to become advanced class.
@@arcanumelite4853 That was in the first game, we've already seen changes in classes like Strider being torn in two. @@theworstcatholic7247 actually level 10 is still the requirement to become an advanced class which is why the sorc in the video didn't have any of the actual sorc spells and was just using mage skills.. outside of one spell.

I'm surprise that the mage in the gameplay is not casting Anodyne
they kinda did the magedirty in that gameplay showcase 😅
That's actually the Sorcerer's vocation action, Quickspell. Lets you cast faster but presumably at the cost of power/stamina.

I ended up maining the Magick Archer class
I wished they could've showed more advanced magic spells, bcuz he just used very basic ones
The tornado just sucked up groups of enemies and rained them down on the battle field. The Meteor Storm just rained meters down on whole battlefield. Necromancy was pretty neat
I really wanna see what they got in DD2 so badly
I did stick with fire ball and lightning spells since they were easy and cheap

Goddamn the first game was fun as hell. You could basically play as any fantasy character you wanted (from Legolas to Guts), the game encouraged experimentation and branching out, and any play style you went with had a class for you (Strength, Dexterity, or Magic, and any combo of the 3)
Soft Lock-on is more class and move specific depending on spells etc

When i first used that tornado spell in the first game it just cemented what playstyle i want. Bonking is fun but when you summon the sun on top of something the spectacle alone is fun enough to play
Cant wait for every single person who plays this to have always been a Dragons Dogma fan, even though the first one was niche.

DD was only niche due to a lack of exposure though, everyone who played it praises it
I mean it sold 7 million copies at that point its not really niche anymore LOL
What I loved most about the first game was it felt like a DnD game where the more you go on quest you get knowledge about enemy weaknesses and a maxxed out character despite class was no joke with end game gear.
They added a load of new classes to the point players will have ridiculously long hours of gameplay to completely max a character.
That's definitely the point, it has been stated that Dragon's Dogma was inspired by the D&D tabletop. Honestly one of my biggest hopes for DD2 at this point, is that they allow you to have more than one save.
The warrior missing the two easiest dropping attacks were peak warrior IQ moments
First one was SO ahead of it’s time tbh
I remember watching my friend's lvl infinity sorcerer pawn absolutely obliterate the map with meteorites and immediately knew this game was good.
Its especially cool that some enemies also use the same spells/skills you do.

They both hit that same note really well.
if climbing is anything like Dragon's Dogma 1, it would be extremely powerful, even with a greatsword
This game is going to slap when it releases and I can't wait to play it!
well you wont have to wait long cause it comes out in about two months
Its all about the npc's its awesome a true party of adventures. You feel like you're right in there with them.
and something I liked a lot is that you could change what they say and how they behave and also if you summoned a pawn from another player that already played a mission you were doing the pawn will actually try to give you info about what/how to do the mission
So not only standing on the giant's shoulders and recovering stamina, but when on it's head she was pressing her knee into it's neck for support and started doing the downward stab. Amazing.
The funniest part of this whole video was the carriage pulling up to the fight and just randomly stopping to look at them fight and say "Dear me..."
Funniest shit I've ever seen
The fact this has the same victory music makes me very happy.
The great sword gameplay has very similar mechanics to the great sword in monster hunter it seems I remember the sword and shield playing a lot like the charge blade in arisen as well
I love how during the mage gameplay, the NPC's were grabbing their downed teammates and actually laying them at the feet of the healer. Smart ai there

This looks so fire, i wish we’d get more games like this and souls games instead of skin shops with a battle royale mode.
15:54 Random civilian on the side : "I'm a goner" lmfaooo
Sadly the game on Steam is not exactly regionally priced. It's a direct conversion from USD ($70), equivalent of a month's worth of meal for where I live.
I've been a fan since the first but sadly this one I might have to wait for sale or something. Such is life.
Where u from man? Hope all is well
in MHW your stam drains when you move or the monster does a shake off. it does not matter what part youre on.
This is like looking into a crystal ball. I can see my future. A lot of it.
Dragon's dogma is the best action RPG ever created. Capcom is a master creator, they create Street fighter for fighting genre, Resident evil for horror Zombie genre, Monster hunter and this one DD for ARPG.
Dragons Dogma, Monster Hunter World... My boy is now a Capcom guy.... Never to late ❤ nice bro
You are a drone for companies.
17:23 spoken like a true Barbarian main 🤣
I really hope this doesn’t end badly I consider this game to be my greatest game of all time, it’s what made me love rpg open world style games. Will buy instantly if it’s good
This is going to be a hallmark in RPGs, mark my fucking words mates
Honestly im just excited to jump on monsters again. It NEVER gets old.
Thing I loved about the pawns in number one was the more you fight a certain monster the better they got at killing those monsters to.
I'm dumping way too many hours in the first Dragon's Dogma. It's so good, despite its age.
just got Dogma1, gonna use it as a gauge for whether or not to buy Dogma2
The combat in this looks really good, I like how you're not swinging a giant ass sword like it's a butter knife, it definitely feels that Warrior is a high risk high reward, if you land those blows, that doing serious damage
Warrior was no joke in DD1,it only had 3 skill slots and a limited amount of skills to learn, but thats all it needed to destroy everything on its path, sending everything flying with the swing of an arc of deliverance was so satisfying.
the thing that was missing from dragons dogma was co-op as much as i enjoyed it, it was very antisocial no friends vibe from the game
That mage gameplay was the best realization of the class in video game I've ever seen omg
The way the warrior holds the sword is so much better now, and the weight of the hits, perfect.
That's wild that some random guys on an oxe cart turned up and joined in on smashing that giant gorilla.
i just completed the first one and the game is really good i just hope they add a lot more armor and weapons. i found myself using the same armor the whole game and swapped weapons like 3 times because all the other ones suked but once you defeat the dragon then the armors and good weapon's show up till then nope
What? There a ton of good ass weapon and gears. You have to farm from chests. They do have ton of armor and weapons. You just didn't play enough.
there is once you defeat the dragon ... but until then i found myself wearing the same armor and the sword for most of the game but yes once you defeat the dragon and fall into the ruins thats when a lot of good armors show up.@@kg888
God damn these bots are fucking quick
btw the 3rd boss has a unique gimmick where if you or a pawn are a female it will solo agro her. Idk if it will be the 2nd one tho
Thanks asmon for giving this game futher exposure its long deserved. For those skeptical all i can say is try ut fir yourself & you will understand why dragons dogma is so unique & in its own league.
Can't wait for him to do one episode of Dragon's Dogma 1 next year before returning to reacting to gameplay
The D-Pad being use for commands could have been used instead for the quickswap as really i have never even used the commands in most of my DDDA playthrough.
the first not BOT message lets go
Wdym. smh I'm dying quicker than you.
And just to Clarify, the first 2 Big Bois that they were fighting (Fighter and Thief) were Cyclopes, the Warrior was fighting an Ogre.
I had a dream that Dragon's Dogma 2 was delayed till September
A nightmare you mean
*cries in Space Marine 2*
@@joaovitorxn The game is gonna be bad
@@detective2221 🤓☝️
@@joaovitorxn I said the truth, lol.
MMO combat should be like this instead of the same style its been since 1999
Obviously game will be just as if not more baller than the first, we only need to pray that it's co-op.
I wouldn't get your hopes up, according to the Playstation store page for the game it's coming out soon, and is single player.
You lose Stamina in MHW no matter which body part you're on. If it shakes, you lose a bunch if you don't brace. You can mitigate it and do some damage if you move when it shakes. It can also ram a wall to do something similar as shaking or do a fast forward movement.
I'm so ready for this game
Why?
@@detective2221 The gameplay is great. You can do so much more then what this video showed.
I hope they come out with a collectors edition so I can get another shot at a Grigori Statue.
i cant wait to play it
first game is amazing
You are a drone.
Its seems that DG2 is going to be the same game, with all the problems again.....
I think the only lock on is for bows and magic
There was a great afk exploit to level vocations really fast in the first game. Not sure how many other people knew about this, in the town the guards/soldiers all have basic fighter attacks and they spawn infinitely in the noble district. You could stand on top of a high wall, like by the church, and they'd group up under you trying to aggro you, and you could have your pawns stand far away and just melt them lol. After beating the game I did this to try all sorts of different class combinations and unlock their skills !
Also killing the cows (?) outside the castle was a surprisingly good source of xp and a good way to test dps with different builds.
The guards one was pretty well known, I never tried the cow one though
Knock on magic all you want now, but wait till you see the high end spells.
