    The open pontil vinegar is probably 1840- 1860. The bird on the Japanese plate is a stylized pheasant. It's a common motif in Asian ceramics.👍

    On my father's side, we are from Scotland. Before the (1800s) And the way things are said remind me of how pure and clean things used to be when I used to go and stay with my grandparents. Great English. And I love to hear the nice ladies, speak with such a sound dialect. Music to my ears.

  • @vegantattoo7292
    @vegantattoo7292 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That stamp is such a treasure! Obviously, YOU TWO ARE THE ALTERNATIVE. Without you, it would just be a load of worthless trash in a heap of mud. I found an old rusty truck battery shelf with heavy duty springs coming out of it that somebody painted a half fairy, half angel on it and it reads, "What are you waiting for?" across the top. I have it hanging over my bed now. I use the springs to prop up notes to remind me of things I need to get done. I take everything I find as a message. I don't believe in coincidences. Alex has the number 2 come up a lot. Gail, you also have 2 come up on all of your dominos. It could have something to do with the two of you and I am shocked at how often you find the same thing at the same time. It's almost as if there is a theme to each day you go out. I have the number 13 constantly popping up. I was born on the 13th. Crazy stuff!

    What a treasure trove! The lovely Venetian bead with dragged feather pattern has aventurine in it. This is a man-made glass known as "goldstone" in the U.S. The early Victorians used mica flecks to create sparkle. Aventurine was discovered by happenstance in Venice by melting soda-lime glass containing copper salts. These copper salts turned into metallic copper in the process. (When art and science go together -- oh, what miracles!) Hope you find lots more amazing beads! I especially admire the beads you both create. ❤

    Lovely Ladies,
    Wonderful video once again. I wish I lived in an area where I had a lot of places in which I could explore, dig and all of the fun things you to do. You found many beautiful things. My favorites were all of the different varieties of bottles. I love the texture the crudeness of how they were made. The drips of glass and the natural imperfections. The colors are so vibrant compared to the colors here in the States. I love how the both of you light up with joy when your treasures are found. All of your finds are beautiful in there own way. Continue making your wonderful videos and also have a Merry time doing so. Take care and stay safe.

    What is the alternative to all this? This question instantly hit me in a very profound way. What is the alternative to life in general. Kind of like what is the meaning of anything? What is the alternative to anything in life if it wasn’t what it is, or how it is at this moment? I don’t think that I am explaining this very well. I have never been good at explaining myself. I think what makes this question so great is it could mean something different to every person that reads it.

    The broken top off the first two brown bottles - the top made a really interesting scoop. Especially if you needed to scoop up something and funnel it into a narrow opening - or put a rubber stopper in the lip opening to keep stuff from coming out of the ‘handle opening’ - it would be a perfect tool. Happy Larking!

    The type comes from a Linotype which was invented in 1885. I grew up playing under a Linotype. It was the most amazing invention, its been compared to the delicacy of a fine watch. The column is typed in and the Linotype melts lead and casts each column line as a single unit. There are videos on this amazing invention.

    I collect old trade beads, and the red beads definitely appear to be Czech--the larger of the two was made in a mould. The smaller one looks like it may have been as well. Look close to the sides, you'll see where the spatter colours abruptly end, not going all the way around, the pattern only going halfway around the bead. There will be a slightly raised peak where the fire polishing didn't entirely remove the seam. These pressed glass beads are sometimes called Prosser beads. The big pink one might be Peking glass, another great source for high-quality beads. The marble-style bead was probably made in Venice, a major site for specialized, lampwork glass.
    I'd love to go digging in that bottle dump myself, one day. Some beautiful finds. Dumps like that are hard to come by in the U.S.A (I'm in California), and the city authorities don't like people digging around in the old dumps due to safety concerns. Most have been ploughed under, or paved over with buildings and roads. :-)

    I've been working on my family ancestry -- Our McLendon / McLennan line (as far as I've gotten) is in the 1500's!!!! We're related to the bottle!

    I’m sure someone has already said, but that’s a salt glazed stoneware bottle from the Bourne pottery at Denby.

    41:37 So i actually have an answer in regards to what causes those weird formations on the outside of the bottle. Basically what happens is certain areas of the molten glass when it's being moulded are slightly cooler (or they cool just a little faster) than other areas around it. So when it starts to cool down those areas that were cooling down earlier are "shifted" around, these can make the "bubbles" and folds you have on that bottle. I'm just starting to collect glass insulators in my area (Boston, Massachusetts) and i have an early two tone Brookfield that not only has what your bottle has, but the lines and folds are very deep and defined as well! I was also surprised to find it has "Snow" on the inside of the glass as well as bubbles. The snow is just dust and debris that fall in during the moulding. I included a picture for you both to look at. And before I finish my long winded comment (🤣) i just want to say I absolutely love your videos as well as both of your personalities and voices! (Hope that's not weird at all)

    Best episode ever! So informative and entertaining. Could that broken clay bottle have been cut that way? Since you found the remains of another one, they look like they were cut intentionally to be used as something else once the bottle was empty. Maybe a scoop for flour or something.........or a plate or bowl? God Bless and thanks.

    What an amazing video! Thank you both so very much for all the effort and time you put in to your videos and your other creations. I especially LOVE it when you share the history of the items you have researched. I appreciate the time it takes to do such research as well.
    What a phenomenal ending to a great video!
