Nice rope anchoring tip! When installing new rope (or cable) do a break-in stretch by connecting hook to something sturdy, I use a light pole by my garage, un-spool all but the last solid layer of rope, then use just winch power to spool back up. This stretches and wraps the rope equally on the drum.
Happy New Year Roland! Simple process eh! I did mine back at the beginning of the summer. I just used the standerd 3/16" for my 3500 lbs winch. I don't plow with it so should be good enough. Great video as always! Cheers buddy!
I like this video as opposed to many I've watched about synthetic winch line now I know this is the size line I will use on my SxS winch. I think at least 1/4 inch is necessary for a SxS anything smaller, I believe would not be as good using cheaper overseas line.
Hell-o Roland , Brad here , I am in the process of doing the same thing , why is your black sleeve between the hook and your stopper ? I would think it should be behind the stopper but don't know for sure . I have learned so much from your videos , keep up the good work and stay safe, also . do you still have the original 3000 lb. winch on ?
Didn't need all the work with rope. You may have been missing pinch bolt but rope comes wrapped and you stick it through drum and tighten pinch bolt on rope. That was the third hole in drum and wouldn't have all the extra rope.

I like the shrink wrap idea 👍👍

Hi Todd, Happy New Year! 😊
Thanks for the video Roland. I'm thinking of doing this on my new Outlander and this video will really help me.
Glad to hear it!

Did the same thing forgetting the fairlead in the fall...
Lol it happens, we get ahead of ourselves
Great video Roland. I'm going to do mine now!
Have fun!
Sure do like that working with that synthetic compared to that steel cable.
great video Roland
Thank you kindly
what is the mpg on this beast?
Not sure I never calculated it but I can tell you I'm happy with the gas mileage.
No holes in my drum :( a TMax ew 9500
Did you see how he put tail end across the spool and wound over it? Do the same with a no hole spool
would you like to get some free light bar?
No thanks
