I can completely relate. Right now, I'm at a point in my life where I'm trying to "find my voice" and I'm trying to prove to myself that I do have something worth saying. I watch other people's videos or speeches and think "how do they speak so eloquently?" I often feel like I will never measure up in my videos. Every morning I just have to repeat to myself, "I have something worth saying" and hopefully one day, I will believe it and others will believe it too.
You know, if you'd explained to them exactly what you explained to us just now, you would've been fine. Also, you just gave me flashbacks to every single school presentation I ever "did." And by did, I mean zoned out everything and walked around like a nervous wreck for at least a week before and several days after every single one. Believe me, I don't remember November 2012.

I've gotten used to cry a little sometimes watching your videos but I never expected the spray of water from my eyes when you told how you started your speech. I'm glad I wasn't eating or drinking during this video.
That's so true! The thing I like best about acting is not being myself, and that's how I cope with nerves but it's different when you're with your friends or people you know because you're yourself and can't hide behind your character!! Ilysm carrie you're just perfect
Carrie, you really do deserve the award because you are just so amazing. I'm 13 and I saw you in January as a first time experience of les mis on stage and you were amazing. I'm already saving money for the next visit hopefully before June so I can see my favourite Eponine in action again so thanks for being awesome for us! luv a hopeful xx

As dux, me and the school captain had to prepare a speech about the teachers to give on our end of school ceremony. I loved writing it and it turned out pretty good; we divided the text and I was the one who had to start speaking, but when the moment came all the emotions of the day caught up to me and I just started crying on the podium and couldn't even think about speaking - luckly my partner started the speech and when my turn came again I was a little more coherent. Two years later I still can't forget bawling my eyes out in front of my whole school - teachers, students and parents included.
I was there :) best night of my life , got a hug from Carrie afterwards, literally cant explain how happy i was! bless you for tearing up about your mum and dad

When I have to give a speech, or a presentation, or anything where I don't already have a character I make up a character to be while I'm up there. My favourite part of acting is not having to be my awkward self

I am completely the same in terms of performing or talking as a character versus as me. No-one else seems to get it but it's completely different singing as a character and so when I sing as me I'm always ridiculously nervous. Which confuses my family and friends so much. I'm really glad someone else is the same! Thank you :D
