    The complete process would be to introduce self to patient and wash hands first. I loved that you assessed the patient's comfort level. Thank you

    Thanks so much for the instruction. I'm not a nurse but am treating my aunt's bedsores on the 4 days a week that wound care doesn't come. So far so good because they've trained me well. However I'm always looking to learn more!!

    I have the pocket nurse tray so all my items are in the tray. If I’m right handed and put my tray on my right side.. after placing the drape down, when I’m taking my items out one by one… is the first item diagonal from me-so it’s be farthest from the patient and on my left side or do I take the item out and put it closest to the pt- my right side

    • @NurseMinder
      @NurseMinder  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As long as it is always in you sight. Once a tray is out of sight- we assume contamination

      @@NurseMinder I’m confused… if I’m standing to the left of the patient and I’m right handed. If the tray is in the right corner and my drape is down. If I take out the items one by one should I start from right to left or from left to right? Bc if I go diagonal from the box which is left to right my arm is crossing over the sterile drape. But if I go from right to left, my arm is crossing over the previous items? I appreciate all the help! I have checkoffs Monday and have no idea what order to do

    if we using sterile techique, how do we hold the forceps without contaminating our sterile gloves while holding the 1 inch part of the forceps?

    • @NurseMinder

    • @BellaCat3
      @BellaCat3 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NurseMinder would it be better then to decide whether you want a sterile or clean to sterile technique before placing the forceps down? If you choose to do sterile and don sterile gloves, would it be okay to place the forceps *in the field* and away from the border instead?

    Ok the error I have seen after watching the video is that the sterile field is contaminated by holding the bottle too far away when pouring the saline out, there fore causing a splash on to the sterile field contaminate it ,placing the saline bottle in the sterile field contaminate it and also not turning the bottle cover up after removing the cap and also placing unsterile forceps among sterile forceps on to sterile field therefore contaminate the sterile field

    Errors pretty much everything:
    -Placing the bottle over the tray. You shouldn't place unsterile objects above the tray. And in general must avoid doing things over the tray other than what's required with the sterile material.
    -Wearing a watch
    -Spill the solution
    -Use the blue forceps instead of the both the sterile forceps.
    -Not folding the cloth properly
    -Damping it and squeezing it with not enough care and attention
    -Leaving forceps inside the tray. Contaminated parts included
    -Touching the cloth with the sterile forceps for no reason

    • @NurseMinder
      @NurseMinder  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great job, just one note, the only way to get your sterile fluid into the tray is to have the bottle over the tray. Ensure you avoid touching the tray.

    • @mandarinesoranges9439
      @mandarinesoranges9439 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NurseMinder yes that's true. Then you're supposed to open the bottle away from the tray and pour the fluid carefully from the side of the tray? To minimise going over it
      Anyway, I'm not even a nurse, I'm not sure how I ended up here haha. I'm a physicist researching how to do wound dressings for my quail.

    right at the beginning of this video my school would fail you.. setting up the sterile field you use the aseptic technique and wear regular gloves to open the sterile bag to unfold sterile drape... and whatnot... you technically are reaching over the sterile field even with the plastic tweezers what good is it after ? FAIL

    • @NurseMinder
      @NurseMinder  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Always follow your schools policies.
      Using stripe gloves to open a “clean” package is pointless. The bag is not sterile and the outside of the drape is going to be in contact with your table. It is not sterile once it touches your table
      If your school has evidence to suggest the use of costly sterile gloves for opening the package - it would be surprising to me - and another reason why healthcare gets so expensive
