Lady Danbury isn't related to the duke. She was friends with his mother and took him under her wing when his father rejected him.
Although she's technically not a his family member, she's probably the closest thing to family he's had aside from him making a family himself with Daphne.

4:32 What's happened is that her granddaughter has just died - the man crying over the coffin is CHarlotte's eldest son George the Prince Regent and future King George the Fourth. That's her one legitimate grandchild, the rest at the moment are results of her son's numerous affairs.

Lady Danbury is the dukes godmother- not mother. I love queen charlorte, it's such a touching show and gives great depth to both lady danbury and the queen, but especially the queen!

It has been mentioned that the Queen has 15 children in season 2 when she invited Kate, Edwina, and Lady Danbury to the palace to look at the zebras. And back then it was mandatory for people to see the "consummation of the marriage" in order to make sure that nothing goes wrong. Also I hope I'm not the only one thinking that Grandpa Bridgerton looks like Anthony.

14:24 We did. In season 2 when Charlotte was looking at the zebras with Lady Danbury and Edwina, Charlotte mentioned that she didn't know what to name them and that after 15 children she was out of ideas.
Also in season 1, in her scene with King George, George asked about "Little George" and she mentioned that he was getting plumper by the day - they were talking about their eldest son, the future King George the Fourth, currently the Prince Regent because George III was considered mentally unfit to rule. He's the one who keeps crying because his daughter just died - he famously hated his wife Caroline of Brunswick, they disliked each other before they'd met and it got worse after their marriage, he was also looking for some way to legally divorce her and ended up preventing her from having just about any knowledge or input into their daughters life, but by all accounts he did genuinely love his daughter.
Also in season 1 - George mentioned Amelia, she was their youngest (child number 15) but she died in her mid-late-twenties. When Charlotte was pregnant with Amelia her 13th and 14th child both died - two boys, both under 5.
The 13 men and women we see in this scene are the rest of the royal babies queen Charlotte just mentioned.
How did they dislike each other before they met? Did they have a correspondence?

It was partial played for laughs but...she was never ALLOWED to say no to her husband's...desires

27:14 It’s not known for certain what king George actually had but it’s speculated he had porphyria. It usually had physical symptoms but some variants caused mental issues. But it’s also possible that he had BPD.
The porphyria was recently (more or less 10ish years ago) debunked. Manic BPD is now generally considered the definitive diagnosis

haha I didn't understand this at first but basically King and Queen's granddaughter and greatgrandchild died. so technically, no heir.
YESSS FINALLYYYYYYYY.....i was so sad when you didnt react to this when it first came out😭ik this isn't technically a bridgerton season, but this show had (in my opinion) the best love story, the best couple,. the best chemistry, the best music, the best characters, everything was just incredible🤭💕

Also technically there is no exact explanation for what happened with George but it is believed he had porphyria and/or bipolar type 1 disorder. They didn't have the proper words to describe it or treat it at that time, unfortunately.

It was based on the real Queen Charlotte. Look it up! The whole debate about in real life is because of writings and paintings where she "might" not be all white. So a lot of this is based on real history, including how many kids they had.

Isn’t it sad we now that “”Lottie and George” actually were in love. There are letters documenting that and the many children they had together. It could have been one of the happiest royal couple in history. In the last years George was totally beside himself and never knew his Lottie passed away before him. He died about a year later or shall we say was freed of his sufferings.

Just for a note, I don’t remember when it was said so might be a spoiler? But the reason why Lady Danbury was thrilled her husband died and didn’t love him is because she’d been promised to him as a 7 year old when he was already an old man. At this point she is 17 years old. Her story is incredibly tragic and I do wish they hadn’t played those scenes as comical
