Does it matter? This is DF. The height of their creative process is a form of madness. That may break them if they can't get acceptable materials. I figure some dwarf just had a fey mood and made a golem.
@@jingbot1071I forgot about the amphibian people! Perhaps in ancient Athira Etah the precursor Dwarven civilizations had contact with the amphibian people and their culture was the inspiration for building the copper beast. How that inspiration manifested I feel would still be hotly debated by scholars. I feel a leading theory would be that the beast was a kind of "Trojan Frog": a gift from the dwarves to their aquatic neighbors, hiding a potent weapon. The bronze frog was, indeed, an autonomous weapon, designed to be impervious to amphibian-made weapons. The poisonous spit was an unintentional, but welcome, side effect of is construction, as the amphibians would absorb the poisons through their skin. Control over the beast, however, was lost at some point. Experts are uncertain if it was before or after the ancient Dwarven civilization that created it collapsed, but some believe the loss of control of the beast directly lead to the collapse.

@@kruggsmash I'm pretty sure every one of Queen Bee's children required alcohol to make it through the work day, and more than one had the doesn't care about anything' trait. Don't know if that's just typical of every dwarf, though, or inherited.
All dwarves need alcohol, that's just one of their traits. As for not caring anymore, I believe it's built up by seeing corpses, so maybe they walked past a lot of corpses early in life and quickly got hardened. I find that most dwarves get hardened very fast, but I don't know the specifics.
I think the dwarves always have a need for alcohol, even the children. The "doesn't really care" statement, I think, is a reference to an older trait about combat experience (mainly from seeing dead bodies or experiencing death). Maybe the kids saw a few too many creatures get killed in scuffles while being held?
When cutting copper, high-speed steel can be effective at dealing with the soft and sticky nature of pure copper. Be sure to keep your feed rates low, as high temperatures can cause chip weld. I like to think that big copper forgotten beast was built to be a great equalizer--a weapon against its ilk, made by either an ancient civilization or the gods themselves. But they lost control of it, and now it just aimlessly wanders the caves ending lives like it was made to do. What does a sword flung from the hand of a god know to do but cut?
Mayhaps, mayhaps. My only worry is that with Akon's body being made of metal AND the fact that it doesn't bleed will make things more difficult- and it was already pretty tough!

Are we sure that's a forgotten 'beast' and not a forgotten 'construct'? It reminds me a lot of the Rose Gold titan from that Longest Dark series honestly. Maybe some plaything of the gods that was left behind during a move. Like a lego piece escaping under a fridge.
Great episode as always! I really enjoy all the stories!
Also what is the name of the solo pet raising game? It sounds right up my alley.
Certainly seems to be a constructed monstrosity, eh? Someone must've made it, whether it was some forgotten civilization or even the gods themselves. Hrm.
Man, Queen Bee is going to be the ancestor of everyone in the fort at this rate, given a couple generations.
Certainly gives credit to the idea you can grow a fort without any migrants.
Everything about your videos is simply magical, i love every story you make, the drawings and openings are charming.
I love how the story of the fortress has evolved from the beginning to now. Feels really natural
This series is so cozy, love all the little developments and the closer look we get at each of the dwarves.
For all this talk of “dwarven ingenuity” I’m surprised they haven’t figured out condoms yet
Well, they don't have rubber trees. Maybe an iron IUD, lol, or they could have found a mushroom that can be used as a contraceptive sponge.
Indeed. sheesh
@@Thalatash Condoms have existed for a very, very long time and the oldest ones were made of sheep skin. It doesn't need to be latex...
KRUGGSMASH DROPPED! KRUGGSMASH DROPPED! DROP ALL YOUR WORK, KRUGGSMASH DROPPED!
I hope they chant this at my funeral.
Oh, you know what?
This copper toad was built by the amphibian people, because they live underground and need to defend themselves against forgotten beasts.
HrmmmMMmmm
This story is so good. It’s so peaceful to watch and lovely to keep up with these dwarves that somehow I feel close with. Thanks for making these videos!
I really love the trajectory the architecture has gone in this settlement! Particularly the indoor-yards with a view.
Hey Kruggs.
Not sure if you'll read this, but about a month ago I was having constant anxiety attacks due to some personal issues and I just happened to stumble upon your channel around the same time.
Your masterfully crafted stories helped calm me down whenever I needed it, so thank you for that (Doing far better nowadays). I can see you pour a lot of love into the things you do.
Cheers from Brazil!
I am very very happy to hear that my videos could help you, Zagreus. Thank you for watching and for the kind words. Glad to hear you're doing better now, too :)
I love this series. I love the hive. I love all the kids. How wonderful would it not be to see them grow up and then figuring out how to help them start their own families.

@@kruggsmash I've been here since Scorchfountain and I plan to stay as long as you keep uploading, I love your videos
I don't believe I've ever seen a fortress with a positive birth rate.
Yeah, for real. These guys are putting the work in!
Beautiful art for the forgotten beast. Truly a terrifying creature.
Those babies better be worried about how these dwarves dealt with the population explosions of the dogs and birds before, lol.
I just came from your CoQ vids,I have been trying to play DF for a week but I'm still clueless about it 😭. I guess watching ur DF series was enough for me if I want some DF experiences.. keep it up krug!
Hey, you'll get it. There's an awful lot to take in, but you'll get better with every single fortress.
More Qud coming next. Just finished up this part at the beginning with Aecius eating rocks. It came out so good lol
Infinite baby generator in Spearcavern my god
Honestly now. I dunno what the hells going on here.
Tinny established this fort with the goal of monster slaying in mind. With her death the fort has turned to one of peace and procreation but with Emmy I feel it reaching a boiling point where the fort returns to its roots. Perhaps will get that forgotten beast trapped in a glass dome to battle out other forgotten beasts in the middle of the fort.
I can’t believe I am so invested in these dwarves!
watching this while working thank you mr kruggsmash
Hey, good luck at work. Glad to give you a little diversion while you're at it. Good luck out there!
@@kruggsmash my brother showed me your channel years ago. my favorites are Monsterkiller. Hunters of Dune & Grotto. Honeystokers Dwarves of Blood and Honey and Skullhorrror.
Maybe it destroyed it's creators? Perhaps it was too poweful...hrm..
always a good day when krugg uploads!
Glad you like the show, man. It means a lot.
As a new player to dwarf fortress your content shows me how to enjoy this game
Oh yessss, I just finished recapping all of Spearcavern again so when I see this I click instantly. Happy day!
Hey go figure! Well, I hope you like it :)
So many babies! Can’t wait to see them all grow up.
This is my break, i dont get a lot of those these days. Good O' Kruggis videos hit just right.
Hey, i'm glad to give you some small diversion, my friend. Hang in there, you bearded bastard!
oh ya, the day's looking good now.
Glad to hear! Good luck out there
Ahh yes stories of combat in the caves. The demon dodging the crossbow bolts… wait a minute.. what if that could be tried again hmmm 🤔
Mayhaps, mayhaps. My only worry is that with Akon's body being made of metal AND the fact that it doesn't bleed will make things more difficult- and it was already pretty tough!
Always a pleasure. Thanks for all the great entertainment.❤
Damn, I just realized it now. You've been making content on DF for eight years now.
I don't know how do you do that but thanks a lot for this journey. Or journeys I guess. You taught me to imagine much more deeply and see the world beyond very dorfish in-game descriptions.
Love your work and your fun art style.
I just love these videos
Well, thanks for the kind words. It means a lot :)
Such amazing work, thanks Krugg
Amazing video, and even better series!
Nothing better than waking up to a new krugg video!
Good morn, y'bastard!
Such perfect sleepy time videos
Love the victorious pose of Emmy, well done :)
what a blessed morning..
Idrath be praised!
I just hope the fortress doesn't run into a genetic bottleneck if the kids come after their elders.
Same, yeah. Not sure how that'll all pan out :p
It worked out well enough for Archcrystal.
Always look forward to more of you Krugg
Keep on popping them Queen Bee! ❤ 😂 ❤ 😂
My wife is with child too. Boy is to came to our world next Wednesday. I wonder If he will watch this video someday in the future...
If yes. I love you son. ❤
Ah! wonderful news. Hey good luck with everything, guys. Best wishes to all of you :)
Reminds me. My kiddo loves the older forts, especially Honeystoker. Thanks for all the fun stories, Krugg 😊
Always a pleasure to see you upload. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, man. I certainly will :)
Always great to see the series in my feed ❤
Glad you think so! Thanks fo rwatching, man :)
@@kruggsmash your story telling, editing and art work is awesome, Krugg - I'm so hooked!
Nice to see more spearcaverns!
Can’t wait to see those steel weapon artefacts!
Your choice is clear! build a series of trapped holding cells leading to a grand arena, where spearcavern shall host a grand Splatterface of Forgotten Beasts!!!!
Leaving a comment for the algorithm! May it bless you
Hey thanks! Though, I am no friend of that algorithm, ha!
Still can't get over how cool that copper forgotten beast's design is. Might just have to draw something about it...
Ooooh. you did that amazing clear devil animation before. I am excited to see what you come up with :))
Haha glad you remembered! Still deciding if i'll do another animation but it will almost certainly be spooky
2:59 That kid may not have cried when he was born, but I bet that giant head made his mother want to.
2:31 The child needs alcohol to get through the working day of playing make believe
I mean, mood.
that is the most insane kill count i have ever seen in this game what a monster
