I love that it feels like the crab is becoming less and less of a fighter the more he bonds with his little monkeys. it's like the experience really made him more hesitant to take down the beasts of the caves with his own hands
That final forgotten beast waltzing up thinking it would break in easily only to realize too late that they sent out a single dwarf for a reason. The absolute terror on its face when Gutter snapped all of its teeth off is amazing.
Another funny thing that happens with fire breathers is them dying by their own fire because it burned down a tree that ends up falling right onto it. One story I heard claimed a dragon basically wiped his whole fort then died from a tree falling on it. Giants are also comically weak for how big they are, and they often die pathetic fast deaths.
I get genuinely worried each fight. I love all these dwarves. You do good work keeping the stakes high. Tinny running into that fight with the baby was WILD! Such an irresponsible move, but I totally understand her actions. Having a baby and being forcibly sidelined from her whole reason for being. Could make anyone ignore the dangers and go "it'll be fine".
Man, I love everything about the drawings. The cool monster, dwarf, and artifact designs continue to impress me over and over again. Its given me inspiration for my own DND monsters!
I get filled with a feeling of real joy whenever I see Krugg's uploaded. His videos have been there through some real highs and bottoming lows, and have a special place in my heart. Thanks as always Krugg 💜
I like how the leech looks less like an animal formed from an inorganic material and more of a artificial creation, could it have been created by a now dead civilization that no one from that era is alive to remember?
reminds me of the creatures from the long night series, far far into a deep forgotten future, these intricately designed creatures remained long after their civilisations ended only to be awoken, activated or rediscovered.
@@kruggsmash I imagine it is possibly a prototype made by a god to create life using clay and fire. It is similar to the legend of humanity being made from clay. Been having some particularly bad insomnia lately so this upload is a godsend for tonight. Can’t guarantee it’ll get me to sleep, but it’ll entertain me and make me feel all cozy when I need it like your uploads always do
I think the first forgotten beast suffered a bit from it's own Biology, being made out of clay it probably had some weird interaction with all the fire it was spitting around. like it should be turning to some sort stone if exposed right?
These episodes are such a delight! The drawings add to the scene SO well, I was on the edge of my seat for that Coal Monster FB fight. Its crazy how, if you follow a few dwarves closely, the stories develop on a small scale like the large ones in Legends mode. Glad we have someone like you around to document it!

"What's the sense of all this hard work if we can't enjoy the fruits of our labor from time to time?" A good question moving forwards into the new year.
I played the Path of Achra demo and didn't realize it was released now. It was a lot deeper than I thought it would be, probably because of the graphics. I'm excited to see what our Krugg does with it! I figured he was just busy with Christmas stuff for the family. Happy New Years, bastards!
I'm loving the series. An idea for a next adventure could be in a coastal area without trees and with few minerals, that will make getting things more interesting and trade more important😁
Love the episode Krugg, thank you so much for producing these videos. Aditionoally, with the amount of slain Forgotten Beasts it might be cool to build a statue garden solely filled with statues of the slain forgotten beasts.
Emmy is SO CUTE! Also, the martial prowess of your dwarves is seriously impressive -- I don't think I've ever seen so many forgotten beasts defeated by so few dwarves. And without any serious injuries or deaths, AND with that solo fight at the end! Damn!!

Hey Krug, wanted to drop this on the most recent video but your entire archive has been extremely helpful as of late. Life’s been rough and you’re beautifully illustrated stories always manage to bring a smile to my face in dark times. Thank you again for putting so much work and love into these videos. It really shows. Keep up the amazing work
I just got into Dwarf Fortress this week since it was gifted to me, but hit a slump since I stink at the game (for now) and found your channel. It's been a genuine blast! Just finished the eight episodes of Spearcavern. I love the drawn interpretation of the forgotten beast, and the thematic flare of storytelling. Can't wait for the next episode!
Amazing work as always, ya glorious bearded bastard :D Mrs. K did an incredible job on the coloring as well! Love little Emmy :D she's quite a nice addition to the fortress! So exciting!
So i took a bit of a break from these vids, but after recently rewatching the lets read of Boatmurdered, i decided to come back and watch Spearcavern from the start. And man, did i only now realize how much I've been missing these. The art, the storytelling. So good.
Haven't watched the video yet, just wanted to say while it was on my mind that this channel is awesome. I've been playing DF since 2011 or so, and this channel captures the spirit of the game so well. Seriously, it's incredible, I've been bingeing your videos, and once I'm done I'll eagerly await more.
I say it every time, and it's awesome to see the growth, but I'm still baffled that you don't have more subs. Thanks a ton for the content Krug! Merry Christmas and Happy Newyear!
I only recently rediscovered this channel and this is some of the best content that exists on this website. Thanks so much for all the work you put into these stories! I love them!
Is 5 beasts in 2 years alot? I would say not really, for just 7 well armed and armoured Dorfs? Yes! Crazy ambitious, that goes for this episode too. Stay well!
"This beast is composed of coke" was not a statement I expected. Given that most people probably don't use "coke" as "material used in metallurgy" but, well, another type of white powder. Come to think about it - a monster made of drugs is actually a neat idea. Imagine fighting it while getting progressively more intoxicated with risk of overdose looming ever closer. That would be absolutely weird, but surprisingly potent enemy. And now I can't get that scene from Scary Movie 2 from my mind. A bloody weed golem, lol.
I'm beginning to think that Wisp never lost her hand to a crocodile, she's just such a badass that she has been fighting them one handed to make it more of a challenge.
I will not see this episode soon. But I am so excited to have it that I will let it run in the background, comment and like just to support as much as I can. Then come back and savor it properly.
Question: Was that cardgame "Delve" hard to animate for? I wouldn't be opposed to watching more of that game sometime too, if it was easier to animate for!
Hey Kruggs, I wanted to ask you this again. Would you eventually show what happened to your previous fortresses and their inhabitants in a special episode? Also, you should make a story as an adventurer in this current world where your character explores everything and tries to survive the horrors everywhere.
I would really like to show off those forts yes, but a snag has arisen with it. Maybe a clip show sort of thing when we finally se Athira Etha to rest, but I rarely plan for anything. Adventure mode could be cool yeah. Not sure how it'd work with a pre established world, but here's hopign it works, eh?

From Nokortorad to Northbridge to Spearcavern, I think we would all enjoy watching how the previous characters are doing and how those fortresses continue to stand.
