    WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Until now I was convinced the Raider was impossible to turn into a bagger!! You have proved me wrong man! You're an artist!!! That's amazing, I wish I had your talent!

      Originally that's what I thought too! Called some bike shops, etc. The only bags available were UGLY and did not fit the lines of the bike.... so I knew I had to do it myself. I took a long time but I think it was worth the work. Thanks again!

    Let me Say THANK YOU.. I havent seen such a detailed video on this and I've been looking for 3 years.. Can'y spend $25k to then tear apart and spent another $6 - 8k to customize . You are the man. Once I begin I'll forward a direct contact. Spring 2017

      EletrikRidesAgain just wanted to say, excellent. I have some of your skills, but not all. I own a VTX 1800C that I just had the rims chrome plated and I am going to turn mine into a bagger, or at least a partial one. Fairing, stereo, speakers, etc. I was a machinist for 7 years and can fab and Tig, but not mig. Hopefully it will go well. Much respect to your craftsmanship, very impressive

      EletrikRidesAgain why not just use tire seal/balance it kills two birds with one stone and depending on the one you buy doesn't make tire change a mess.

    Just a thought, I've been using dynabeads to balance my tires, no need to actually do a rotating balance as the beads flow where they need to be. Been 115 mph on my Vulcan 1600 and steady as a rock! Its a cheap and easy solution for cars and motorcycles

    • @EletrikRidesAgain
      @EletrikRidesAgain  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +fighting17chicago Yes, I did look into those - they have some ceramic ones, also saw SS ones. I almost did it but decided to stick with the conventional method for now. Maybe next tire change.....

  • @3613jeremy
    @3613jeremy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I love how easy you made that look keep thinking after your video I should do something like that with it being that easy but that's when reality kicks in to remind me I can't cut a straight line much less fabricate anything other than a store but nice job would love to do the same with a Honda vtx or Yamaha warrior the only thing I would change is a 240 tire on rear with a 26" in front

    • @EletrikRidesAgain
      @EletrikRidesAgain  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A wider tire would have required me to widen the fender, bag mounts and mod the swingarm. Too much additional work for a tire nobody will ever see. I would have liked to go with a bigger front wheel, but the cost was simply too much for my budget. So I stuck with the stock wheel. You could totally do this. You might surprise yourself.... Start with some simple stuff first.

    Step 1: Get someone to give you a practically brand new bike. Aside from that little detail, nice job brother:)

    • @EletrikRidesAgain
      @EletrikRidesAgain  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ray Sah No - not hardly. In this project - the age of the bike is irrelevant. Since I practically tore the entire thing down and redid it all, the fact the bike was only a few years old is irrelevant. I did not have to rebuild the motor or trans - the rest was all reworked thanks to the customization. I built a 2004 Warrior - much older bike, with similar results. It's all about the details. Also - no one "gave" me a practically new bike. I worked my ass off for that bike. I earned every bolt. There were no shortcuts here. What I did not fabricate with my own hands I paid for with my own cold hard cash.

      Found the bags on Ebay - 4" stretched. Also got the bag brackets and hardware on ebay. The fender mount you cannot buy, you have to make it. Low n mean makes the front fender and spoiler. Memphis shades makes the fairing.

    Hey EletrikRidesAgain, would you mind sharing the fairing details (manufacturer, model)? Yours really fits the lines of the bike. You see a lot of them, and they look like a fairing mounted to a pair of forks, instead of looking like a natural part of the bike. Have been looking to find a two piece fairing that actually "fits" the bikes lines... thanks in advance, and again, great bike! P.S. I see you are from VT... This is a NH raider here :)

    Diggin on your bike man. I remember seeing this a while back when I was still in the contemplative stage. I've got most of my parts now and plan on setting my signals in the fairing also. I'm digging the style you've got, do you recall which signals they were? I've found a few that were almost close, but not quite spot on. Keep doing what you're doing man, you're killing it!

      +Justin Davis As long as I remember to air up it doesn't scrape. I have touched a few times when I was riding low, but the skid plates prevent any damage. Fully aired I have no problem, but I can't lean into it extreme and drag peg like I used to.

    • @EletrikRidesAgain
      @EletrikRidesAgain  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I always wear a helmet. But if I didn't that would be my choice to be a total dumbass. I don't condemn anyone who chooses to ride without a helmet because it's their business if they want to play drop the watermelon-on-the-concrete. Can't fix stupid, so I just mind my own head.

    • @ganjafarmer7403
      @ganjafarmer7403 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +EletrikRidesAgain my wife's a nurse, I ride.
      that helmet isn't gonna do you good. she sees accidents all the time where that partial helmet barely helps.

    • @EletrikRidesAgain
      @EletrikRidesAgain  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ganja Farmer It already saved my life once. After I got hit by an inattentive driver and it saved my melon, I went out and bought another just like it. So, no - they work - I have seen it first hand. Have the scrapes and impact spots on the old one to prove it. Everyone wants to judge - no offense to you, or your opinion - but it's my head and I get to decide how I protect it. I'm the one who has to live with the consequences. So far, I lived, have 100% function with no ill effects, and I'm OK with that. Even the best helmets with full face and all that can't help a person who is riding at 165 MPH and hits a pole head on. I prefer the lighter helmet because it does not snap my neck around like the heavier ones do. A heavier helmet would have broken my neck when I got hit - so no thank you. Every accident is unique, so no one can play armchair judge on what works and what doesn't. If you have ever been down before, your circumstances would have been different than mine. In my circumstance, a heavier helmet would have left me paralyzed - period. It's my head, not yours. so I get the ultimate final say as to what I do or don't put on it. You ride with your helmet, and I'll ride with mine. May we both ride safe and may God protect us both from those who don't!

  • @samt1307
    @samt1307 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    You could have bought a nice used Street Glide for 13k...but its always fun to build your own stuff. Just don't expect to get 13 for it when you go to sell it. Metric customers are horribly cheap. Anyways nice build, nice bike!

    • @EletrikRidesAgain
      @EletrikRidesAgain  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This leaves a street glide in the dust. Braking, acceleration, cornering - you name it. I ride with 3 harley guys - one with a street glide, one with a electra glide, and the third with a sportster 1200. They cant keep up. A Harley cant touch this without some serious mods. Maybe a screaming eagle or a v-rod. Maybe. My running gear is close to stock. And I will never sell this bike. I didn't build it for profit. I built it because I love it. Anyway, thanks for the props - ride safe!

      Nope! He had nothing for the Raider bagwise when I started this build! Now he does, but I did it first. And it was no trouble. I love building one-off stuff like this.
