Paul Martin if it doesn’t kick start you have to start jealing for people to turn of their bikes klick the choke shake it up and start jumping on the kick start as hard as you can until it does and if it doesnt it’s time to mess with the ignition or the carb in front of your friends to seem cool and like you know what you’re doing as they watch

I would say that Voyager is more hipster than a stock Goldwing as it's not as common.

You missed the most hipster brand of all: Royal Enfield. They sacrifice performance, ride quality, and ease of maintenance, all at the altar of vintage style. Because they stubbornly adhere to obsolete tech, even a brand new RE is a finicky, impractical PITA to maintain, needing specific operating procedures to keep working. Added hipster bonus: you've totally never heard of them.

My first was a Bridgestone 175 dual twin, and then responsibly bought a Yamaha XS650SJ Heritage Special (black with spoked rims) and dated my girlfriend, now my wife of 30+ years.
My next three motorcycles were a 1987 Kawasaki ZL1000 Eliminator, a 1994 Yamaha V-max, and yet another gen 1 2007 Yamaha V-Max 1200cc.
I enjoyed watching Shadetree Surgeon's build of the XS650 chopper, but I liked my OEM Heritage Special being unmodified for its classic look.
I have to admit that should I purchase my next motorcycle, that I will forego the 4-barrel carburetor and even fuel injectors and jump to something akin to the Harley-Davidson Livewire. I did work at Harley-Davidson's Product Developmental Center in Wauwatosa, WI in late 2015 when the Livewire was being prototyped and we had one in our office. I am glad to see it is now available. It is an equally potent replacement for my V-Max, but a bit too tall for me - like the gen2 V-Max are. At 58, I do not attempt to be hipster, but have enjoyed riding since 1978 - solo, (only with my wife on just a few occasions).
Josh did a memorable job on this video. The script was well-written/thought out, graphically the embedded images were well produced, the music in the background was subtle and appropriate, and your diction, enunciation and pace were strong - as usual. If someone else had your script, their attempts to duplicate your video would have paled in comparison. Like rookies who select classic songs on karaoke night, there are some musical numbers that should just not be attempted. You, Josh, own the Shadetree Surgeon personality, and it is why we come back for more every week.

Had to take a long look at myself when you put the iron 883 in B tier, but then when you put the FXR in S tier I felt a whole lot better
When I owned Triumphs and BSA's you better have some level of mechanical know how. My patience ran out over 20 years ago as I sold my Whitworth tools.

I restored a BSA in the early 90s and used a XS650 to pick up the parts. After I sold them both I bought one of the first Triumph triples to hit the states. I sold the Triumph and bought a Sportster sport (really the best handling frame HD produced outside of Buell) which I still own today. Next to my d Harley is my CB250 cafe racer. I didn't know that at the age of 49 I'd be the king of the hipsters completely by accident. This is without including that I've had a CB650, RZ350 and a Rd350.
I will never tire of your rants, Shady. You are a true artist. BTW-I ride a T120 Bonnie that's bone stock except for the fork springs and bar end mirrors (Halcyons from England!) It occurred to me the other day that bar end mirrors and heated grips may be the ultimate motorcycle irony. At least until I saw a true biker grooving through the Sunday morning coffee shop gauntlet on a brand new Chieftain with Thriller turned up to 11. That image still gives me a chuckle.

I had a 1973 CB350F. Was just a great bike that always started conversations with oldschool riders. My most hipster/non hipster bike was a tragically uncool 1984 GL1200 Goldwing. Luckily, it was the naked version and was fast and handled really well.

lol This man just listed 75% of the bikes I am interested in for my first. I cant complain, this was absolutely hilarious. I will say, when I was in HS I only dreamt of having a sports bike but I realized by the end of my freshman year that my 5'2 height was going to make that hard, then I realized by the time I graduated I was never going to be responsible enough to have a bike that was built for me to put my knee down (attempt to.) Shorter seat height hipster bikes and cruisers with adjustable controls look like my only option unless I can get reliable info on how far a bike can be lowered and still handle well. I am strong though so I am not worried about weight. Any suggestions Surgeon fans?

The new twins are definitely hipster bikes. Cheap, cool and a brand that has history but not that well known. Himalayan also has that post-apocalyptic Mad Max ugliness that hipsters love. Definitely as hipster as a Bonneville.

I do appreciate you're writing (I actually laughed about the job as a "photographer" hah), and can see you nailing that delivery in the future. Try getting a shriners cap, smoking jacket/robe, pipe, arm chair, and glass of bourbon or scotch when you do these lists and roasts. It would really add to the comedy, especially giving your look and voice, and it'll give you something to do with your hands which honestly get kinda Ricky Bobbyish in your videos. Plus you get to enjoy a fine drink and smoke! I can also appreciate how this video is comedy yet also being an actual helpful guide for serious hipsters haha. I personally find hipsters to be mostly wannabe pricks that give real word renaissance men (the ones that go out and actually try and learn new things that don't revolve around internet photo sharing websites and or coffee) a bad name and accidentally get them mislabeled as hipsters. If I was a hipster though I'd clearly be D tier, especially if you swapped the fsr700 for the 900. I've gone on record saying this before about Triumphs, but matte khaki green should be called midnight green or nooner green because every time I see it I go from 6 to ^12... as in it makes ma dick hard

I’m a 55 year old who just got into vintage bikes and I made the top of the list right out of the gate (BMW 1976 r60/6) or did I? Maybe just a little light in motor size. So I bought a 1997 r1100r. What’s that make me? I’m almost 56 so that just makes me old.

Back in 1996 I bought a 75 CB750 with weld on hardtail. It was bored out to 836cc. All for 300.00. It was a former drag bike. The cooling fins were shaved down. It wasn't running and I never got to get it on the road. I miss not having done so.

For the most part, the hipsters in my area don't ride motorcycles. If they are out of their Honda Fit or Kia Soul in the summer, they are on small scooters or bicycles with electric motors. Bikes like the Kawi Z900RS on your list would scare the hell out of a hipster. None of them, and I mean none, turn wrenches on anything. Their hands do nothing other than manipulate I-Phone apps and hold pints of craft beer.
