Des' app idea for marathon spectators is fantastic. I could see how it could really help spectators plan day out. Maybe even reduce stress. And perhaps race could sell ads on it from surrounding businesses along the suggested routes. Also help plan day before and afternoon after. And re Grand Slam Track, they're gonna get the best athletes this year but format won't produce the best times above anything but short aprints. That will turn off fans. So, format will evolve or event will be gone. My prediction anyway. And I'm with Kara on mondo v warholm: was too esoteric to be sport-expanding. enthralling for someone in the sport already, but not bringing anyone new into it. that was not nearly the same as bringing snoop into the sport like at usa's. he grew it. and other national/global stars who have broader appeal can do the same. put another way, the more sentences you have to use to describe what mondo v warholm was and why it matters, the less 'sport growing' it did.
Since the Paris Olympic Marathon course, I’m less interested in fast/world record times and much more interested in challenging courses and the athletes’ racing each other.
the keepsakey sakeys... tough to get rid of that stuff... i finally ditched all the bibs, sent the medals to a charity... the magazines and paper are killercrappy. Des... YOUR app would be great in chicago, because of the way the course is set up and public transport is SO great, if people knew how to get to certain spots, would be great.
