    It is the best DAP I have ever owned. If they make a similar R2R DAP with a little bigger screen, video player, WiFi, Bluetooth but without Android, I will buy it immediately.

    Is the UI snappy. How many songs did you add? I have a Hiby R3 Pro saber and it feels like the more music is on it the slower it gets.

    • @Soundnews
      @Soundnews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have 2800 tracks on my 256 Gb card and I'm not experiencing slowdowns. It's snappy, but not as snappy as flagship DAPs carrying a SD 660 or SD 665 SoC.

    As the thumbnail may have suggested, did you like the HD800s paired with this dap and felt like they were being driven properly?
    I was looking into a DAP specifically for those headphones and nothing else.

    I’d be using it to lower Fiio FA7 and FH1 IEMs.

    Hi there, I'm considering getting the RS2 as an upgrade to my Fiio X1 (an ancient DAP compared to whats available these days). Do you reckon this will be a worthy upgrade? Unfortunately it's not possible to audition this where I live at the moment.
    Many thanks in advance

      I just got this last week , I can tell u the instruments and vocals are amazing.. a little downside is if ur into fast music, it’s a little weaker, but the sounds is clear and energized and feels spacious. I upgraded mine from a fiio m7 too,

    • @Soundnews
      @Soundnews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had the X1 as well. There is no comparison whatsoever, RS2 plays in a much higher league. There is more of everything.

    È ancora una volta si sa quanti Gb o Tb di Micro SD può ingoiare, ma di quante tracce riconosce e cataloga per Titolo, Album, Autore, Genere non si sa. Io ho una collezione di 23000 tracce per 169 Gb nella Micro SD da 256Gb e il mio pur eccellente (come suono), Hidizs AP80 Pro-X più di 20000 non ne vede, le rimanenti ci sono fisicamente ma bisogna andarsele a cercare. Alcuni Surfans arrivano a 14999, e questo?

    I just saw this on their site, I have the Hiby R6 2020 and do enjoy it but I honestly would be more attracted to not having all the extra stuff of a big screen, wifi, apps ect.. When I listen to music I dont want any distractions and I do not use spotify or any music streaming services anyways.
    My question if you or anyone else could answer me. Would this be a better performer than my R6 2020? (Ignoring wifi, apps, ect) just technical wise. Thanks

    • @Corwin74
      @Corwin74 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I honestly have not messed with the R6 2020, but I do own the R5 Mk3 and the RS2 and I can tell you that the RS2 sounds A LOT better than the R5 Mk3. The R2R DAC is the real star of the show here, and unlike the R5Mk3, the RS2 can operate as a usb DAC for your smartphone or PC. This is probably the best use case of this device, using it as a usb dac. The built-in DSP makes this a better option than other R2R dongle DAC/Amps (like the Hiby FC6).

    How many hours of run had that Hiby RS2, before you have updated this review?

    • @Soundnews
      @Soundnews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I updated it to the latest firmware (V1.04) and put about ~50 hours of on the RS2 before starting my evaluation.

    • @joaodiniz3320
      @joaodiniz3320 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Soundnews , ok. But with your level of experience, you know that all R-2R devices, need a minimum of 300 hours of run, before those resistors start to perform adequately, correct? Before this, all reviews are just a glimps of any of these things are able to do in reality. With some of my own R-2R gear, it took even more time for them to fully open their performance, and we don't need to go much far. Just my little Cayin RU6, took me more than three months to get the perfect tuning and a more splendid performance. So, reviews, with this little time of devices working, mean nothing, when it comes to their true abilities, most important at all, their way to present music, which is the most important. Anyway, thanks for the video. It's a nice device, and i'm also expecting to receive my own shortly. I love these R-2R based daps.

      Those two have definitely better SQ, however, it is apple vs orange since they are bulky and have to use with a phone while RS2 is a stand alone product.

    Hello, just got second device and after a month of use, again loose battery, noise when shaking the device. Creating playlists in this device is almost impossible. I have spent more time packing the device, sending it somewhere to China and communicating with hiby and other retailers than actually listening to it ... NEVER AGAIN ... Cowon was best.

    This device sounds like sandpaper. Super shrill and harsh and unengaging. Returned it immediately

    • @Soundnews
      @Soundnews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You have a valid point, the treble was indeed hotter at first. Did you leave it play for at least ~24-48 hours before sending it back and did you also try the MSEB settings, including the NOS mode? You might be surprised by how different it can sound after making some adjustments

    • @Reeeepicheep
      @Reeeepicheep 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Soundnews Yes, I switched NOS mode on and applied MSEB which is definitely necessary. While it certainly helps, it also muddies the signal. I did not leave it running for long to burn in or anything. Just sent it back while I still could. I was expecting something similar to the Cayin RU-6 or any typically warm and smooth R2R dac and I couldn’t detect any R2R qualities that I typically enjoy.

    • @suntanglory
      @suntanglory 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Reeeepicheep That's funny, l was hoping it will sound like Ru6 too. It will be weird if it did not sound anything like that.

    • @Reeeepicheep
      @Reeeepicheep 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@suntanglory It sounded harsher than my old AP80 Pro I used to have before selling. Nothing like the RU-6. Nothing like my Himalaya EF400 DAC. Nothing like my Bifrost 2. Really disappointing. This could be due to the amp stage. If there’s a good R2R dac inside this device, you wouldn’t know it.

    • @wengezhu1
      @wengezhu1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Reeeepicheep It requires burn in. I demoed a well burnt in RS2 during SoCal CanJam and it was surprisingly good. I was side by side compared it to my Sony WM1A.
