@@MrPablo616 maybe they put thrash factors in Dave Mustaine's. But.. I don't know if Bill would take them up on it if they did offer. I would buy one instantly if they did though
Absolutely legend of extreme metal. Bill was there from the start, defining the sound of grindcore with Napalm Death and the sound of Gore Grind with Carass’ Reek Of Putrefaction and later his excellent work on creating Heartwork. One of the most influential musicians of extreme music.
That's absolutely what I'm all about. That solo has everything in it, so melodic, so musical and adventurous. First solo I ever tried to learn note to note.
Yeah he definitely was a early influence on my playing. Had a monster tone. Unique and original style and sound when everyone else was trying to sound like Hetfield and Hammet
Sir William is a legend, so glad they're getting the love n respect they so richly deserve, such lovely down to earth guys which makes it even better to see them be appreciated now, been one of my favourite bands n Bill is my top guitar hero for 30 odd years now
Have you noticed how he holds his guitar? Who does that!!! Love Bill and the whole band (of course, including ken), they are always drinking and happy.
Seeing the music video for Heartwork when it came out was literally the song that made me want to play guitar! The whole look of them playing in the warehouse in the intro and solo in the beginning...oh my goodness it was magic. What a legend this band is!
so pleased bill steer is still on the scene. ive been a fan since i was a kid and if i ever get given a mic for an interview i will hold it like a dainty teacup because bill just made it look cool.
When Carcass toured Australia for Necroticism, I saw Bill at the Sydney venue bar, offered him a beer (which he politely refused) and the dude sat down with me and just started talking about the album and the changes they made from Symphonies to Necroticism. he told me how some prick in brisbane stole his gear, and why they changed the album covers from the gore collage style. People were sending photos of mutilated corpses (animal and human IIRC) to a trio of vegetarians. They say don't meet your heros, fuck that, meet Bill Steer and treat him like the legend of a bloke he is.
No ody mentions it but hes also the guy who does my favorite vocals on reek of putrefaction. His back up singing is too notch. The guitar is amazing on anything he joins in on. What a brilliant musician!
Last time I saw Carcass was June 1990. Never in my wildest imagination would I have dreamed that they would still be doing this thing in 2024.... And that Bill would look only about 10 years older in 33 years....
confirmed it wont happen.. maybe one day but there is a fan on youtube who asked him multiple times and he said it's far out of the way. sucks, great band.
Necroticism is by far my fave. I think those transition records are often a band’s strongest, like when a band is obviously going through a serious growth spurt. Meshuggah with Destroy Erase Improve, Death with Human, Soilwork with Natural Born Chaos etc.
I still remember the first time I saw Carcass in 1990 at the Plus-3 lounge in Longwood, FL. No real stage so I spent the whole show standing right in front of Jeff, not five feet away. Death closed that show. I miss those early shows when everything was still kind of loose and a little reckless.
Hallo aus Deutschland. Bill war es der den Grind Core nach vorne gebracht hat mit seinem Unverwechselbaren Sound und Gitarrenspiel. Bill hat Napalm Death zu dem gemacht was sie sind, mit ihrem Scum und From Enslavement to Obliteration Album !!!! Die Carcass Alben Grandios !!! Bill ist Grindcore !! Bill ist eine Icone des Extreme Metal und Absolut Unauffällig, ohne Show, keine Tattoo's und Normale Kleidung. Alles gute Bill Steer !!
Bill is the best guitarist I've ever seen live. He's so technical and accurate but also melodic and can create hooks. People say Johnny Marr is the best UK guitarist or Jeff Beck/Clapton/whoever. It's Bill though and it's not even close.
I was there at their show on tour with Municipal Waste. And yeah, crossover thrash is super fast and wild. So what? It's not a competition, Carcass is a death metal band. I don't understand why they think it's competing, they have a different style. I find Carcass more artful and articulate. Municipal is more straight-up power chord slamming, their music is designed to be fast. Carcass still has speed and brutality, but the music has a lot of feeling. I loved when Carcass got up at the end, it made me realize music is more than just speed and blast beats
One of the great guitarists of our time! Here's a fun game: name your favorite Carcass Riff. I'll go first: Intro riff of Reek of Putrefaction. EVIL AF
sales. he’s not insanely famous, and look at what Bjorn Gelotte and Matthew Heafy did with Epiphone. Also afaik, Bill doesn’t do endorsements like that.
Heartwork is an album too far of its time being able to turn the heavy metal industry away.Where Carcass were able to show how to sound extremely brutal and at the same time sounding beautifully melodic.Definitely a landmark in the whole extreme music realm.
i have no idea why this guy gave up death metal for hippy music they say it was so bad or unusual the record company put a two year old on his pos album ? and why does he play gibson ? why give up your jacksons ?
@@vorpalblades he was asked in an interview early 2000s about why he quit playing death metal he said death metal was for teenagers this is a guy born in the 70s he is not even 30 years old he quit death metal to play hippi music
God bless Bill Steer. Gibson needs to give him a signature model
YES!
100% I would buy a Bill Steer melody maker but I don't think they'd make them with Monty's pickups. One can hope.
@@MrPablo616 maybe they put thrash factors in Dave Mustaine's. But.. I don't know if Bill would take them up on it if they did offer. I would buy one instantly if they did though
I didn't even notice that until I read this comment.
Honestly, if it was Bills, sig. and let him do his own. I would buy in a heartbeat.
Wish more people would realize how amazing this guy really is. Tone monster

Firebird
one of the most underrated guitarists ever
"Metal music is a lovely thing".
Bill, I couldn't agree more!
This man basically invented like 3 different genres of music, a gentleman whenever I've met him, he looks happy.
his solo in carnal forge is one of the best solos ive ever heard
A masterpiece

I believe the solo you are refering to is from Michael, Bill plays the 1st lead
Cool! He was in the year above me at school. I still have Scum by Napalm Death on vinyl. Great to see him having the success he deserves.
Did you go to Solihull as well?

The best, melodic riffs, agressive riffs, amazing solos. This guy can do it all.
He plays the blues as well
This man is such a living legend, an idol and inspiration to me. 🤘 So awesome!
“The value of a note, where you place it, how it feels…” 5:08
And THAT’S why this man is a guitar legend
Always amazed at the amount of melody and musicality bill puts into these extreme forms of music. He really is a riff god
Bill Steer is my all time favorite guitarist, he is my idol, I wish I had 1% of his talent.
He holds the microphone like a glass of wine or a cup of hot tea
Was just about to say that!!!

I always pay attention when Bill has something to say. Great guitar player.

people tend to focus on Heartwork, & it is top notch. But i think Necroticism - DTI is equally sick. One of the best death metal records.

Fantastic guitar player and composer. I believe that his gear still needs a boost pedal. More crunchy and more palm-mute response.
