      The time machine you are (or were) looking for is called emulator. Look for a Master System emulator and Master System roms out on the web. Roms are the games themselves as made to run on emulators. There are many emulation and roms sites on which to search. All have at least one good Master System emulator and most MS roms.

    • @atanvardo5730
      @atanvardo5730 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Agreed. And that's because console power is not everything. The Master System was more powerful than the NES, and most of the best NES games were not as good as the best MS games (my opinion here); but the NES had a greater number of good titles. Same for PS1 vs. Wii: The PS1 was not so powerful as the Wii, but it had A LOT more of good titles. This was the main reason for its success.

    • @DijaVlogsGames
      @DijaVlogsGames 10 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      ***** Old games usually have a minimum of 2 layers. The Background and the sprites (characters/enemies) in front of it. Consoles like the NES and Master System couldn't handle to show more than 2 or 3 sprites at the same time.
      In this game there are no sprites. The characters are painted into the background and the background tiles have been animated.

      @@hughjass8383 That's because console power is not everything. I think the greater number of good titles on the NES had a significant importance to the fact that the selling of NES games was greater than the selling of Master System games. Not that Master System didn't have many good titles, too. It had a lot. Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Danan, Kenseiden, Space Harrier, Cabal, and many more. Personally, I don't think the best NES games were as good as the best MS games, although NES had a greater variety of good titles.
      The same occurred to Playstation. Look at how many good titles the PS1 had, if compared to the number of good titles that were available for the N64 (which belonged to the same generation as the PS1 but was a more powerful console). This made the PS a much more successful videogame. The N64 had power, but very few really good titles. The PS had LOTS of them...

      The sole reason why the movemen is choppy is because the characters aren't sprites but part of the background and since background tiles could only move by 8 pixels everything is choppy. The Master System easily could've handled the the characters (Check out Shadow Dancer, especially the first level boss) but the trade off would be less enemies at once on the screen and heavy flicker.

    Ok, let's speak about pros and cons of this port:
    Pros:
    1) The level design is close to original arcade game;
    2) The only port with proper music sequence (Turtle Village 2 -> Fiend's Path);
    3) You have 1-1,5 seconds to get up after getting hurt and change your position;
    4) Enemies have only 1 pallete (seriosly, why to change it for the same enemy?);
    5) Comfortable dragon's jump physics. Level 3 is a good example where you can jump over pit and not perform an attack while running.
    Cons:
    1) That damn Atari-like framerate (why, Sega?);
    2) Too hard to concentrate on attacks for the same framerate making your eyes hurt;
    3) Too hard to understand you're walking or running;
    4) Only one character with different magic (I know, lack of memory);
    5) The ending (Ax Battler became Tarik? Why did he get everything for himself when Golden Axe warriors always save the royalty and don't want to be rulers instead of them?);
    6) No duel mode and options (this doesn't need to take much place in the cartridge).
    For me, this port sucks.

    That ending. Yes, that doesn't look like they are ripping off Conan at all. Watch 18:29 on.

      Uhm you do know that the entire game was created because Makoto Uchida was a massive Conan fan and simply wanted to make a Conan game? The death screams in the Arcade and Mega Drive versions also came from the Conan movies (though some were also ripped from First Blood)

    18:01 I like the ending, even though it's not as good as the arcades.

    I think this looks great in the master system,but looks superior on the Mega Drive and Arcade Version,Golden Axe Beast Rider should put in heart for this game,but failed,they should have make another saga of this game for the PS5 and Steam

    While SEGA did an OK job cramming 16-bit spirits on a 8-bit console, the animation was a bit choppy, the colour pallet was limited and there was no character select. It would've been better if they had just used simpler sprites and backgrounds like they did with the ports or the TMNT Arcade Game or Double Dragon.
