- I’ve been to Mexico several times, but never on the west coast. That was until a few days ago when Vickie and I had a chance to escape the cold (and sometimes harsh) days of winter here in Montréal Canada, for a week under the sun. For that trip, I wanted to focus on photography so I ended up bringing minimal gear with me. Discover how I built the most minimal setup I've traveled with yet!

Great video Fred. Always loved my time with the x100 cameras.
Y’a man, been shooting this series of cameras for the past 11 years. There is something unique about these little gems! (If only the Tiktokers didn’t decided to hype it up haha)
Looked at your blogpost:) Amazing photos!
Thanks for the feedback!
Great video … merci! I’ve been shooting with the X100V for a year now and really enjoying it. I might pick up a conversion lens one of these days but I’m more likely to get a Wotancraft bag … they look really good. I like your setup but I might just go for the 7L version, partly because of the straps on the bottom that would let me attach my small carbon travel tripod. I’m shooting mostly B&W landscapes just west of Montreal on the Ottawa river. Well done and enjoy the sunshine! 📷🌞
Thank you for the kind feedback. I’m sure you will love the Wotancraft bag. Well built and so convenient! Happy shooting 🤘🏻
Nice video Fred but I am always surprised by the bags that most TH-camrs use and recommend. That Wotancraft looks cramped and the kit inside must be bouncing around on top of each other. To me, the Jealiot is far better. Excellent design with pockets, dividers, inside lid mesh etc. Just nowhere near as well known as Bellingham, LowePro et al. I would be VERY interested in seeing a review of the Jealiot which I have used for a few years now very successfully.
I’ve been on a quest to find the “perfect” bag for more than 15 years now and I can safely say that it doesn’t exist (just like the perfect camera) ;-) I enjoyed the Wotancraft for it’s small size, magnetic clip system and the fact that it fits the kit I brought just right. I would be interested in trying our the Jealiot and be able to compare since you seem to have found “the one” ! Cheers!
What about Leica Q2? Also 28mm and 47 MP which you can use at least up to 50mm crop mode. Not as small as X100V but with the WCL there is not much difference in size anymore.
Yup another viable choice, but the X100V size and weight is hard to beat.
Hi Fred. Which Wotancraft bag is it?
This is the Pilot 3.5L www.wotancraft.tw/product/pilot-travel-camera-sling-bag-3.5L-blackC
Does the wide angle lens affect image quality at all?
Not at all! Even at F2, the images retain sharpeners and micro-contrast!
@@FredRanger Thanks Fred, now when the x100V becomes available.....lol.
Yup, pretty sad that it’s not available anywhere…
I’m about to purchase this same bag. Are you located in the US? I am and am wondering about the shipping. $50 for trackable shipping if there ends up being a problem. Which shipping method would you recommend?
It did ship to Canada without a problem. No extra insurance needed. I can’t tell for the US, but people ai know who ordered it did get the same flawless experience.
Given the insane over-inflated prices of the X100 V these days (thanks Tik Tok!) this isn't the best reco. Not even easy to find these for retail prices. An XE-4 is a good alternative. Or Ricoh, or the Q (used, not that much more than the ridiculous price for the X100V, and a much better lens and camera)
All great options! my GF had an X-E4 (you can see her photos in the blogpost) and they are just as good as mine + you get the option of being able to switch lenses. All great travel options!
XE-4 just as hard to find at the moment
Indeed. X100V and XE4 are both very hard to find.
