Late comment but a lot of competitors in fighting sports don’t give a shit about making friendships they want to fuck with / intimidate you, get to you. Same reason connor mcgregor is the way he is, when highly skilled fighters get angry or upset they stop thinking with their fight IQ and think with rage which leads to simple mistakes. Mikey took his ass out regardless tho

Mikey you are an excellent fighter. I suggest that you dont expect to be respected because your opponents will see your expectation of respect as an important thing. Forget about everything except your fighting. If an opponent says he doesn't respect you, will that effect your feelings in any way? You can't let anything effect you. Imagine if you start losing when opponents make fun of you or disrespect you in any way, it will become a way to beat you or at least have negative effects on your game. Don't even ask opponents what they think of you. Just fight.

God, I have so much respect for a BJJ black belt who really lives the lifestyle as a humble and self-reflective individual. He had every right to say what he did because Geo’s attitude sportsmanship-wise was subpar for most jiu-jitsu black belts (on the mat). He still took time to reflect on his own wrongs and correct them. I have so much admiration for this man and rooting for nothing but continued success for him.

Who ever said Mikey should kill himself deserves to be punished , and their punishment deserves to be one minutes on the mat with Mikey without the ability to tap out

It was a good experience for him all and all. Him saying Geo doesn't deserve to a BB was of course over the top, but he addressed that. He knows now he can stay composed during with an opponent trying to fight psychological. And next time he'll stay calm all the way through against such opponents and will see it for what it is, just some mind games.
