You stop being a foreigner the moment people can feel that you start adopting the greek spirit. This was a wonderful video and i wish you all the best!

Hi. I am so happy to come across your channel. I am Greek living in Melbourne Australia. I really like your attitude and I fully understand what you saying… because I am a foreigner myself in Australia. Few years ago I decided to work in Greece….although a great experience….salary wise and working conditions are not so good. So you are lucky to be earning US dollars. By the way you live at such a beautiful place. Dimitra Frangos

oh hello, I'm also a Greek in Melbourne, Bentleigh East :)
My wife grew up in Australia and then decided to work in Greece for a couple of years, that's where she first met me and eventually we moved to Melbourne together. So yeah I know what you mean, the money in Greece was a bit of a shock to her and the opposite happened to me when we moved to Australia, it was a pleasant shock :)
You definitely don't go to Greece for the money, unless you're some sort of football player. It's still very possible to have a great life there though.

@@SP-nx8qx hi. Yes I agree, you can have a great life in Greece when you work online and earn foreigner salary. I am glad you like Australia. I live in Mount Waverley, Melbourne. I worked in Sifnos for 3 years and I also worked in Mykonos for 6 months. Very amazing experience. Although I need to admit I was getting double the amount of Greek salary in Sifnos, which was very comfortable!

As I mentioned before, I would appreciate the vlog on learning Greek - you method, books, etc. Take care!

I am visiting Kefalonia soon, I have visited some of the other islands before and learnt good morning, hello, please and thank you. How do you maintain your Venezuelan identity Daniel?, integrating into Greek society is important, working and contributing to that society is vital, but you must maintain your identity how do you achieve that?.
I have lived in the UK since I was 14, but even though I am British, I am integrated but my culture has always been Greek, and that is never going to change.

I'm a German that has been living in Greece for 20 years. I find it easy in Greece to integrate and maintain my cultural identity in Greece, because most Greeks don't demand assimilation from foreigners. Greece has a huge diaspora, so most Greeks know it's important to cherish your own culture abroad, because they've either lived abroad themselves for a while or have relatives abroad.

I am married to a Greek and every year we visit his family, with the exception of 2020 due to Covid. This year we will be coming for a whole month. In the next couple of years the visits will be getting longer and longer until we are really living there part time. Integration will be key for me. I have already adapted to a Greek lifestyle in many ways although I struggle with the language. I appreciate what you say about putting in the effort. I need to do more of that. Can you make a video about Greek cuisine, what you like to eat and show something other than what tourists eat...The culinary secrets of Greek grandmothers, the starters, main courses, desserts, that you enjoy the most and/or healthiest...
I discovered, for example, pastistio in Athens, in a tavern in Plaka and being Franco-Italian, the comparison with lasagna gave an advantage to the Greek dish, to the point that I felt like Judas who had betrayed Jesus because that my mother, made them very well and I said to myself "sorry, mom" but it was really delicious ! And I'm a big fan of extra-virgin olive oil and Greek is by far the best !

Ok listen, wherever you live there is a kafeneio somewhere near you. Next time the football is on, just get up whatever you're wearing, in your sagionares or whatever and get in there. Buy yourself a beer and just watch the game. People are gonna be extremely passionate and relaxed at the same time, and you gonna hear the strangest words you've ever heard. Swearwords, whatever. But this is how people really talk, and if they don't talk then that's how they think, that's when you're getting in the heart of the everyday language. For better or for worse LOL

the other thing I am seeing is how many fan palms you (the land) seem to have lost. drought? human foolishness? non native plantings? I have lived in the sonoran desert in the sw US for decades and watched how few people have any idea how little and how important water is, most are way too wasteful.
how does potable water play apart in daily living. how many - what percentage - of households are carrying water/

You are one of us now...don't worry... you fit perfectly. You are more Greek in manners than any other 'original'.
They call Greeks racists but they aren't.They sounded like when they speak about a specific ethinc group but it's because of their criminal actions. They give bad name to their self's.I mean...you haven't hear any Greek say bad things about western people who visited Greece or stayed forever.Thats because we share the same greco-roman culture and religion. From the other hand they are some ethnic groups from the north and east of Greece that cause troubles. There is no day pass that you don't hear about them in tv news.We have no problem with legal good people who respect human life and give to society. We treat them as equals. We are all humans who have the same needs...we breath the same air...we watch the same sky.If all people had respect for the others our world would been better.
