The Truth About Nitric Oxide

  • Nitric oxide is a cellular signaling molecule that's closely tied into a number of critical processes in the body. It’s involved with everything from the binding and release of oxygen and hemoglobin, to inhibiting inflammation. It’s even linked to the destruction of viruses, parasites and malignant cells in the airways and lungs. In addition, nitric oxide is a part of the system that regulates blood pressure.
    Nitric oxide is produced in a number of body tissues but nitric oxide is also produced in the nasal passages. When we nasal breathe, our bodies can make use of this amazing substance, but as soon as we start breathing through the mouth, that’s just no longer possible.
    Research has linked abnormal nitric oxide levels with some serious health concerns such as high blood pressure, heart failure, atherosclerosis and strokes. Many of my patients also have sleep apnea, which is linked to a number of similar health concerns. Mouth breathing is a common factor for all of these issues, which means it’s the red flag that many health practitioners often overlook.
    To put it simply, breathing through your mouth bypasses important parts of the breathing process, which is why we see so many negative health effects around mouth breathing.
    In this video, I'll take a look at nitric oxide, and clarify how it can affect your health.

    A month ago I decided to tell people on Facebook about the benefits of Nasal Breathing, in and out through the nose, everybody who replied said I was wrong, in through the nose, out through the mouth, one guy I know who is extremely intelligent told me I was an idiot as did my brother, the list of benefits for me is long, much better lung function, no aches and pains in my neck and shouders anymore, great posture, my skin has defintly improved, my hair is much softer and smoother, I sleep extremely well as I have succeded in nasal breathing at night, people keep saying how good I'm looking, and I am 78! I only did it to get my lungs working better but my god look what it's done for me with benefits I did not expect.

    I was a mouth breather for most of my 70 years. A week ago I tried mouth taping. I was skeptical so I put a slit in a piece of first aid tape and taped my mouth closed for the night. I had to sleep on my back so my sinuses would drain equally. After 3 days of this my sinuses are mainly clear and I noticed that my urine went from bright yellow to clear. Also, burping has gone down and breathing through your nose gives you a constant supply of NO.

    I never knew there was any other way for normal breathing than thru the nose. The only time i breath thru my mouth is usually when I'm out of breath from strenuous activities.

    Any truth to the Nitric Oxide having side effects, I've heard that Nitric oxide causes hair loss?

    • @adamcraig1468
      @adamcraig1468 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've heard this too. It's why I came here. I've always had good hair and been on citrulline malate for exercises benefits for years. Noticing hair thinning. Could be a coincidence.

      @@mr.fluffy770 that's not quite how it works. Increasing nitric oxide that way actually leads to worse health problems. Nitric oxide is good when the body needs it but forcing it higher actually is dangerous. You guys need to realise theres no such thing as a biological free lunch

      Fluffy nitric oxide contributes to oxidative stress. Supplementing to increase it will have healthy concerns. Your body makes it when it needs it.

    One way to know if your a natural nose breather is if you have ever had a cold and your nose is blocked you feel like you can’t breath! I am that way!

    You can increase nasal nitric oxide by 1500% by humming through your nose. In yoga they call this bhramari pranayama (bee breathing).
    "Humming causes the air to oscillate which in turn greatly speeds up the exchange of air between the sinuses and the nasal cavity. The high levels of nitric oxide accumulated in the sinuses pass quickly into the nose where they can be measured." - JAMA
    "Humming caused a 15-fold increase (range, 8-21) in nasal NO compared with quiet exhalation" - American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine
