Delillo is simply the finest novelist of modern times. One cannot read his works without experiencing a touch of warranted anxiety.

Don DeLillo is an outstanding writer, one of the greatest American writers of the second half of the 20th century. Regarding the mention of Chamberlain, I believe his umbrella was present when he talked to the press after his visit to Munich and Hitler, declaring 'peace for our time', an act that has become the ultimate symbol of the failed appeasement politics towards Nazi Germany, I believe also referred to as 'umbrella politics'. That Joe Kennedy would have been an supporter of appeasement remains to be seen, I think on the contrary, also in the light of the book 'Lessons in courage' that JFK wrote afterwards. Anyway, thank you for sharing this interview.

Is the insanely hot mic distorting their voices a post-modern stylistic choice?

@@andresmarino2788 I cannot stop laughing at this. The fact Delillo goes with it, there must be some choreography of civility here that I don't understand.

Portuguese film producer Paulo Branco, who produced Cronenberg’s adaptation of Cosmopolis, Delillo’s novel.
