It is the coating. Same principle with basic standard AR-15 groups. At areas of contact the coating gets polished down to expose the steel then lubed and voila, smoother trigger action.
    Might work the same here.

Great video. This knife is 30$ in my country and you helped me realize there are better knife options for that price with similar steal properties.

It’s $35 where I live. May I ask what other/better options are there? I’m on the fence about this one too. THX

@@cecilm3720 Since 5 months ago, Ka-Bar put the new D2 version of Dozier on the market. It is even more expensive. I could buy one of the 2 versions just to have a Ka-Bar. There are some other options more or less expensive depending on the place of residence: Cold Steel Pro Lite Sport Clip, Cold Steel Tuff Lite. Cold Steel Double Safe Hunter, Cold Steel Bush Ranger Lite, EKA Swede 8, EKA Swede 10, various Ganzo versions with D2 steel, Buck 110 Slim. If you want to buy a fixed blade at a smaller price and get a much better knife you can get the Mora Heavy Duty Stainless Steel knife. That's what I did and I'm not sorry because I got a bigger, better knife for half the money.

shorinryu2008 Thanks for the tips. Much appreciated. (I wouldn’t not buy knife with a D2 blade again. I had one and it rusted - while my O1, 1095, etc are all fine.) Happy New Year.

shorinryu2008 PS: None of the knives you mentioned are available where I live (SE Asia), only the CS Grik is. And we can only order online, so no going to a shop to actually handle a knife. It looks like a good workhorse of a knife. Do you know it? THX

@@cecilm3720 I didn't know about CS Grik. It looks like a great knife. I'm from Eastern Europe and I buy online only because there is only one shop where I live in a nearby city and they only have a few Opinel knives and some Mora. I use lamnia and bladehq websites for research but I usually buy from local online shops. I can tell you Ganzo has some very good 440C knives, cheaper than the Dozier. If you are looking for a work knife, I wanted to buy the Ganzo Firebird G722 a while ago but I choose a fixed blade instead. I don't know what you can find on your local market so I don't know what to tell you. A few good european brands are Mora, Opinel, Joker, Fallkniven, EKA. I don't know how much I helped but I always enjoy a good conversation about knives. Good luck to you in finding that great next knife!

Thanks for the video! I just bought a Dozier and noticed it was very hard to open with the thumb stud (like blister-inducing stiff - and I EDC a thumbstud-opening knife already). I wanted to open mine up to see what I might need to adjust to get it to acceptable levels.
One thing I noticed is that the lockbar spring isn't bent at the same spot on both ends. I tried swapping it "backwards" - and lo and behold, there's a little less tension on my lockbar. After reassembling, I can openthe knife with the thumbstud! It's still a little stiff, but at least it's possible now.
Do you think there's a chance that they sometimes get the spring backwards when assembling at the factory? Maybe try it backwards next time you take one of your Doziers apart. You don't need to reassemble - just swap it backwards and push down on the lockbar. I could feel less tension.

You should have swapped a backlock as well. Then you only needed to polish screws.

Should have used a Dremel to polish the black back spring.

87% likely your problem has nothing to do with the rocker bar or any of the hardware or even the cheap cerakoting on the blades... I would bet dollars to doughnuts that it's the zytel (plastic) handle causing your slight grittiness. You gotta figure they pump those handles out probably by the thousands and call it what you will zytell, nylon, grivory, dynaflex, FRN, GFN, etc. etc... All just fancy names for plastic of one form or another, but all typically are done using an injection molding process that more than likely causes ever so slight variations,. possibly even within a single batch. And as you probably already know the tightest of tolerances that are invisible to the naked eye could be like miles in relation to the knife world..

It is outrageous what they charge for this knife considering that it’s nothing more than a blade sandwiched between 2 pieces of plastic..!! I guess you are paying for the name.
